From French fries to employers, Southwest readers weigh in on their favorites
O
ur readers have spoken. More than 3,000 of them, in fact, as part of Southwest News Media’s “Best of the Best” contest for 2017. Participants were encouraged to vote for favorites in many categories, from places of worship and elected officials to best entertainment venues, eating establishments, services and retailers. Most entities that were nominated are located in or have direct ties to the Southwest News Media coverage area which includes the Lake Minnetonka area, Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, Chaska, Shakopee, Jordan, Prior Lake and Savage. Nearly 3,100 people participated in this project by logging into one of the Southwest News Media websites and registering their favorites through a nomination in one or more categories. Close to 3,000 businesses, people or venues were nominated. A total of 7,798 votes were cast in the contest. All nominees are listed
in this special print edition, with the top vote-getter in each category indicated. Prior Lake, Shakopee and Chaska readers were most engaged in the voting process that began in October. It should also be noted that interest in this initiative extended all the way to Great Britain with one vote cast from across the pond. “Best of the Best” is expected to be an annual project through which local residents can give a shout-out for their favorites. We encourage you to support businesses in the Southwest metro area that contribute greatly to our overall economy, add convenience to daily life and are frequently called upon to partner with other community efforts.
