These germs are so tiny that even a thin needle can carry them into the body. Once under the skin, they love to MULTIPLY and can cause BIG PROBLEMS! This can lead to skin infections or even worse infections of the blood (called a septic infection) OR heart (called endocarditis). Another type of skin infection is called cellulitis. Cellulitis is caused when a germ gets into the layers of the skin and spreads. When the skin gets very red and hot, and the area gets bigger and bigger, it may be cellulitis. This needs special antibiotics. See a real doctor or needle exchange staff.
