Brief Summary of Patient Information about ODEFSEY ODEFSEY (oh-DEF-see) (emtricitabine, rilpivirine and tenofovir alafenamide) tablets Important: Ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist about medicines that should not be taken with ODEFSEY. There may be new information about ODEFSEY. This information is only a summary and does not take the place of talking with your healthcare provider about your medical condition or treatment. What is the most important information I should know about ODEFSEY? ODEFSEY can cause serious side effects, including: • Build-up of lactic acid in your blood (lactic acidosis). Lactic acidosis may happen in some people who take ODEFSEY or similar medicines. Lactic acidosis is a serious medical emergency that can lead to death. Lactic acidosis can be hard to identify early, because the symptoms could seem like symptoms of other health problems. Call your healthcare provider right away if you get any of the following symptoms which could be signs of lactic acidosis: – feel very weak or tired – have unusual (not normal) muscle pain – have trouble breathing – have stomach pain with nausea or vomiting – feel cold, especially in your arms and legs – feel dizzy or lightheaded – have a fast or irregular heartbeat • Severe liver problems. Severe liver problems may happen in people who take ODEFSEY. In some cases, these liver problems can lead to death. Your liver may become large and you may develop fat in your liver. Call your healthcare provider right away if you get any of the following symptoms of liver problems: – your skin or the white part of your eyes turns yellow (jaundice) – dark “tea-colored” urine – light-colored bowel movements (stools) – loss of appetite – nausea – pain, aching, or tenderness on the right side of your stomach area • You may be more likely to get lactic acidosis or severe liver problems if you are female, very overweight (obese), or have been taking ODEFSEY or a similar medicine for a long time.
• Worsening of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. ODEFSEY is not approved to treat HBV. If you have HBV and take ODEFSEY, your HBV may get worse (flare-up) if you stop taking ODEFSEY. A “flare-up” is when your HBV infection suddenly returns in a worse way than before. – Do not run out of ODEFSEY. Refill your prescription or talk to your healthcare provider before your ODEFSEY is all gone. – Do not stop taking ODEFSEY without first talking to your healthcare provider. – If you stop taking ODEFSEY, your healthcare provider will need to check your health often and do blood tests regularly for several months to check your HBV infection. Tell your healthcare provider about any new or unusual symptoms you may have after you stop taking ODEFSEY. What is ODEFSEY? ODEFSEY is a prescription medicine that is used to treat HIV-1 in people 12 years of age and older: • who have not received HIV-1 medicines in the past and have an amount of HIV-1 in their blood (“viral load”) that is no more than 100,000 copies/mL, or • to replace their current HIV-1 medicines in people who have been on the same HIV-1 medicines for at least 6 months, have a viral load that is less than 50 copies/mL, and have never failed past HIV-1 treatment. It is not known if ODEFSEY is safe and effective in children under 12 years of age or who weigh less than 77 lb (35 kg). When used to treat HIV-1 infection, ODEFSEY may help: • Reduce the amount of HIV-1 in your blood. This is called “viral load”. • Increase the number of CD4+ (T) cells in your blood that help fight off other infections. Reducing the amount of HIV-1 and increasing the CD4+ (T) cells in your blood may help improve your immune system. This may reduce your risk of death or getting infections that can happen when your immune system is weak (opportunistic infections). ODEFSEY does not cure HIV-1 infection or AIDS. You must keep taking HIV-1 medicines to control HIV-1 infection and decrease HIV-related illnesses. Ask your healthcare provider about how to prevent passing HIV-1 to others. Do not share or re-use needles, injection equipment, or personal items that can have blood or body fluids on them. Do not have sex without protection. Always practice safer sex by using a latex or polyurethane condom to lower the chance of sexual contact with semen, vaginal secretions, or blood.
Who should not take ODEFSEY?
Do not take ODEFSEY if you also take a medicine that contains: • carbamazepine (Carbatrol®, Epitol®, Equetro ®, Tegretol®, Tegretol-XR ®, Teril®) • dexamethasone (Ozurdex®, Maxidex®, Decadron®, BaycadronTM) • dexlansoprazole (Dexilant®) • esomeprazole (Nexium®, Vimovo ®) • lansoprazole (Prevacid®) • omeprazole (Prilosec®, Zegerid®) • oxcarbazepine (Trileptal®) • pantoprazole sodium (Protonix®) • phenobarbital (Luminal®) • phenytoin (Dilantin®, Dilantin-125 ®, Phenytek®) • rabeprazole (Aciphex®) • rifampin (Rifadin®, Rifamate®, Rifater®, Rimactane®) • rifapentine (Priftin®) • the herb St. John’s wort or a product that contains St. John’s wort What should I tell my healthcare provider before taking ODEFSEY?
Before taking ODEFSEY, tell your healthcare provider if you:
• have liver problems including hepatitis B or C virus infection • have kidney and bone problems • have had depression or suicidal thoughts • have any other medical conditions • are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if ODEFSEY can harm your unborn baby. Tell your healthcare provider if you become pregnant while taking ODEFSEY. Pregnancy registry: there is a pregnancy registry for women who take HIV-1 medicines during pregnancy. The purpose of this registry is to collect information about the health of you and your baby. Talk with your healthcare provider about how you can take part in this registry. • are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. Do not breastfeed if you take ODEFSEY. – You should not breastfeed if you have HIV-1 because of the risk of passing HIV-1 to your baby. – At least one of the medicines in ODEFSEY can pass to your baby in your breast milk. It is not known if the other medicines in ODEFSEY can pass into your breast milk. – Talk with your healthcare provider about the best way to feed your baby.
Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Some medicines may interact with ODEFSEY. Keep a list of your medicines and show it to your healthcare provider and pharmacist when you get a new medicine. • You can ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist for a list of medicines that interact with ODEFSEY. • Do not start a new medicine without telling your healthcare provider. Your healthcare provider can tell you if it is safe to take ODEFSEY with other medicines. How should I take ODEFSEY? • Take ODEFSEY exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to take it. ODEFSEY is taken by itself (not with other HIV-1 medicines) to treat HIV-1 infection. • Take ODEFSEY 1 time each day with a meal. • Do not change your dose or stop taking ODEFSEY without first talking with your healthcare provider. Stay under a healthcare provider’s care when taking ODEFSEY. • Do not miss a dose of ODEFSEY. • If you take too much ODEFSEY, call your healthcare provider or go to the nearest hospital emergency room right away. • When your ODEFSEY supply starts to run low, get more from your healthcare provider or pharmacy. This is very important because the amount of virus in your blood may increase if the medicine is stopped for even a short time. The virus may develop resistance to ODEFSEY and become harder to treat. What are the possible side effects of ODEFSEY? ODEFSEY may cause serious side effects, including: • See “What is the most important information I should know about ODEFSEY?” • Severe skin rash and allergic reactions. Skin rash is a common side effect of ODEFSEY. Rash can be serious. Call your healthcare provider right away if you get a rash. In some cases, rash and allergic reaction may need to be treated in a hospital. If you get a rash with any of the following symptoms, stop taking ODEFSEY and call your healthcare provider right away: fever; skin blisters; mouth sores; redness or swelling of the eyes (conjunctivitis); swelling of the face, lips, mouth or throat; trouble breathing or swallowing; pain on the right side of the stomach (abdominal) area; dark “tea-colored” urine.
(Patient Information is continued on the next page.)
Brief Summary of Patient Information about ODEFSEY (Continued from previous page.) Important: Ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist about medicines that should not be taken with ODEFSEY.
What are the possible side effects of ODEFSEY? (continued) ODEFSEY may cause serious side effects, including: • Depression or mood changes. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you have any of the following symptoms: feel sad or hopeless; feel anxious or restless; have thoughts of hurting yourself (suicide) or have tried to hurt yourself. • Change in liver enzymes. People with a history of hepatitis B or C virus infection or who have certain liver enzyme changes may have an increased risk of developing new or worsening liver problems during treatment with ODEFSEY. Liver problems can also happen during treatment with ODEFSEY in people without a history of liver disease. Your healthcare provider may need to do tests to check your liver enzymes before and during treatment with ODEFSEY. • Changes in body fat can happen in people who take HIV-1 medicine. These changes may include increased amount of fat in the upper back and neck (“buffalo hump”), breast, and around the middle of your body (trunk). Loss of fat from the legs, arms and face may also happen. The exact cause and long-term health effects of these conditions are not known. • Changes in your immune system (Immune Reconstitution Syndrome) can happen when you start taking HIV-1 medicines. Your immune system may get stronger and begin to fight infections that have been hidden in your body for a long time. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you start having any new symptoms after starting your HIV-1 medicine. • New or worse kidney problems, including kidney failure. Your healthcare provider should do blood and urine tests to check your kidneys before you start and while you are taking ODEFSEY. Your healthcare provider may tell you to stop taking ODEFSEY if you develop new or worse kidney problems. • Bone problems can happen in some people who take ODEFSEY. Bone problems may include bone pain, softening or thinning (which may lead to fractures). Your healthcare provider may need to do tests to check your bones.
The most common side effects of rilpivirine, one of the medicines in ODEFSEY, are depression, trouble sleeping (insomnia), and headache. The most common side effect of emtricitabine and tenofovir alafenamide, two of the medicines in ODEFSEY, is nausea. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any side effect that bothers you or that does not go away. • These are not all the possible side effects of ODEFSEY. For more information, ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist. • Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088. Almost five years after the release of “We Found Love” and “Where Have You Been,” Calvin Harris and Rihanna have collaborated once again, and the resulting “This Is What You Came For” seems set to be just as big a hit. The pair’s first single together, “We Found Love,” topped the Billboard 100 for ten weeks and sold over 14.5 million copies. Understandably, hopes were high for the pair joining forces again, and on the strength of our first listen (or five), it sounds like they’ve done it again. Expect to hear this one a lot over the next few months.

he visually captivating book is the brainchild of photographer Magnus Hastings. Hastings’ name has become synonymous with drag queens ever since he traveled to Sydney, Australia to focus on its thriving drag scene. While there, the publishing industry took notice, and he was offered a ten-page spread by Blue magazine to showcase his dazzling work. From that point on, Hastings’ demand skyrocketed and after returning home in London, he worked with leading publications around the globe that yearned for the chance to showcase his amazing knack at capturing the drag community and personas in the most appealing and radiating light. It was a dream come true for the sought after photographer. “I think a big part of Why Drag? is rooted in that little effeminate boy who was shamed out of doing what made him happy,” says Hastings. “I grew up resenting that childhood version of myself until one day, I had such a wave of love for him. I realized how extraordinary and beautiful he was, how fearless. Somehow I think this honors him.” Hastings first made a name for himself in the London gay scene with his explosive exhibition at The Box in central London. His majestic way of capturing colorful details that 14 MAY 04, 2016
WHAT’SNEXT provoked awe in viewers was noticed by Time Out magazine, and they picked up the show, quickly honoring him as a respected name throughout the photography and publishing world. In 2010, Hastings had the amazing opportunity to work with Boy George snapping beautiful shoots of queens that appeared in Boy George’s 2011 coffee table book, The King of Queens. Their work together was so synergistic that a love for one another solidified an agreement that Boy George would write the forward of Hastings’ book. That time came in 2015 when Hastings’ hugely successful 2014 drag photo and short essay exhibit in NYC, titled “Why drag,” was noticed by publishing’s Chronicle books, which offered Hastings a book deal. He spent the rest of the year and 2015 photographing 135 interesting and prominent drag queens throughout the United States asking each one, “Why drag?” As promised, the fun and endearing book has a forward written by Boy George. Hastings has recently partnered with award-winning filmmaker Dimtry Zhitov on a feature length documentary of the book. “I want people who don’t know drag to be opened up to its beauty and its comedy,” says Hastings. “It’s a wonderland, and I want people to go there.” N – Jameer Baptiste

WHAT’SNEXT renovated Brooklyn Studios for Dance continues this legacy in its home at the historic Cadman Congregational Church in Clinton Hill. Founded by Pepper Fajan last May, BKSD will host a night of queer performance with The Pageant of St. Sebastian on Saturday, May 7. I recently sat down with curator Arla Berman (Brooklyn drag king Oliver Fist) to speak about the evening. Arla, what exactly is The Pageant of St. Sebastian? It’s a cabaret/variety show with dancers, musicians, drag performers etc. all performing works that are inspired by the figure of St. Sebastian. I just recently became aware of St. Sebastian who has been called histories first queer icon, or the Patron Saint of Queers. He’s the most depicted religious icon after Jesus and Mary which is fascinating.
I know that in paintings of St. Sebastian martyrdom (he was shot with arrows for refusing to renounce his faith), he is often depicted in an androgynous and sexualized way, very similarly to the way women were painted at the time. Why create an evening of performance based on this religious/queer icon? Queer people have used St. Sebastian as a quasi-secret code word since the Italian Renaissance. Then, a wealthy patron might hire an artist to paint Sebastian under the guise of religious iconography with the understanding that he was really getting a male nude in exchange. So the secular tradition of this icon is to be shaped and molded by the queer community for their own purposes.

That reshaping is so important to queer artists! You have an amazing line-up of performers: drag kings and queens, dancers, and singers, all creating work inspired by St. Sebastian’s legacy, and the legacy of how we queer people re-code his tale. How does that make you feel? I’m excited to do something that pays homage to such an incredibly rich historic figure. I think it gives us a sense of pride as queer people to know that queers have been around forever, and that they’ve always been producing incredible works of art, and that in a way we’re unstoppable and irrepressible. I want to share that sense of pride that I get when I think about the legacy of St. Sebastian with other people in that very special space. The Pageant of St. Sebastian, a night of queer performance, is at 9:00 pm on May 7 at the BKSD, 210 Lafayette Ave, Brooklyn. Doors open at 8:30, and admission is $10. After my diagnosis, it took me a while to accept the fact that being HIV-positive is not the end of the world: It’s just the beginning of a whole new way of life. The first meds I was prescribed gave me some bad side effects. But I worked with my doctors to find a new one that was better for me. Now I feel great and my viral count is undetectable. That list of things you wanted to accomplish before you were diagnosed? It’s still possible if you stay in care and work with your doctor to find the treatment that’s best for you.

BEACHPATROL We feature three spots that aren’t Fire Island to get a little sandy this summer.
BY ALEXANDER KACALA & MICHAEL COOK
PROVINCETOWN, MASSACHUSETTS
P
rovincetown is one of the last gay bastions, a gay Promised Land where we can find our refuge. More artistic and tranquil than its main competitor Fire Island, people are opting to vacay for a week in P-town as opposed to a few weekends in the Pines this summer. Peak season is July through August so plan early if you plan on traveling there. The Crown and Anchor is the destination’s largest entertainment complex. The two cabaret venues boast incredible headliners all summer long like Lily Tomlin, Alan Cumming, Miss Richfield 1981, and Dina Martina. To thwart off obnoxious bachelorettes parties who have tried to stake their claims on our gay spaces, The Crown and Anchor is responding with two new parties at their nightclub. Black Out will be an underwear party every Thursday, and Testosterone Gear will be a uniform night on Saturdays with dress code enforced. Names like Vinny Vega, Boomer Banks, and Seth Fornea help all summer long making sure the boys stay hot and bothered on the dance floor. While the most popular option to stay are house rentals, there are still some great hotels to lay your head. The hotel at the Crown and Anchor has 18 rooms, 11 standard and six waterfront suites with private balconies overlooking the shore where the pilgrims landed many years ago. The Brass Key and Crowne Point are also great guesthouses that offer social situations for mixing and mingling with new people in some pretty upscale digs. During the day, stake your claim at the best beach in P-town, Herring Cove. Stay to the left for the gay-friendly and clothing-optional side of the beach. The Cove is the perfect spot for couples looking for a romantic getaway, with whale-watching and sunsets that seem to melt into the ocean. - AK 20 MAY 04, 2016
BEACHPATROL REHOBOTH, DELAWARE
ASBURY PARK, NEW JERSEY
With more than 50,000 at the peak of tourist season, Rehoboth has long been a draw for gays from all over the East Coast – especially DC, Philly and Baltimore. But some of us New Yorkers are also making the drive down, and staying for a week or more.
The gays were the ones responsible for turning sleepy Asbury Park into the bustling resort town it is today. With six full bars and weekly events, Paradise is one of the best gay nightclubs on the East Coast right now. They have weekly events, and when summer kicks off, will have their famous Sunday Afternoon Tea Dance with D.J.’s spinning poolside weekly.
Located within walking distance to the town’s nightlife, The Shore Inn is one of Rehoboth’s few exclusively gay bed and breakfasts. It features 14 bright and vibrant rooms, clothing-optional hot tub and sun deck, and loaner bicycles for cruising around town. Right across the street is the Double L, a leather bar that will reopen for its 19th season this year. Their Saturday night Mandance is always packed, and resumes raging on May 21. Poodle Beach is where the beautiful boys, masculine men, and everyone in-between go to frolic during the day. Find it by going south down to the end of the boardwalk at Queen Street (that can’t be a coincidence), and turning toward the ocean. Get there by noon to claim the prime beach real estate. By 2pm, it’s jammed towel-to-towel.
After you towel off, build up some liquid courage at one of the local gay watering holes like Aqua Grill or Blue Moon that bring all the boys out for day drinking or late night cruising. The Purple Parrot Grill is a mixed spot, but is known for their popular Sunday night drag show featuring Tara Austin and the Birdcage Bad Girls. - AK
Connected directly to Paradise, the Empress Hotel is located directly across from the Asbury Park beach. Your room can have either views of the Paradise pool or ocean views, and the Copper Bar and Grill is located directly in-house. Best of all, the hotel is connected directly to the Paradise nightclub complex, so after a night of partying, you can pop right up to your room.
Another option, The Hotel Tides brings a touch of boutique to Asbury Park. With a retro meets current vibe, and killer martinis, the Tides is the perfect spot, several blocks from the beach, to get a touch of quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the beach and boardwalk scene. The rooms are quiet, and the in house restaurant offers American cuisine, using only the freshest seasonal ingredients. Long known as the “Gay Cheers” of Asbury Park, Georgies is the well-known watering hole where “everyone knows your name”. They have weekly events, and friendly and local bartenders to always fulfill your cocktail needs. One of the biggest nights of the week is their Tuesday night stripper events, with gorgeous boys coming in to dance for your pleasure (and tips)! - MC MAY 04, 2016 21

hen my plane first touched down in Thailand after 31 hours of travel, it was midnight. Our taxi drove from the Phuket airport to our resort shrouded in darkness. My traveling companion and I couldn’t see anything in this rural section of the country – only the shining lights of a few 7-Elevens that dotted the way. In the morning, I pulled back the curtains of my windows to an overwhelmingly animated landscape. From my vantage, I could see turquoise water, navy green hills, and violet flowers that overflowed from my balcony. Thailand is a country long respected for the visibility of its LGBT community, and they continue to welcome us as visitors with a rainbow of colors. While a great distance away, the trip to this far off destination is well worth the travel. Sure, getting there can be expensive but once you are there, it is affordable for even a boy on a tight budget. Here, we explore the vibrant color scheme of this magical land, one fabulous hue at a time.
THE RED NEON LIGHTS Bangkok is a sweeping city filled with skyscrapers that touch the sky. No wonder its nickname is City of Angels. The vitality is felt best at night when the city comes alive and the red neon lights turn on, drawing passersby’s inside the clubs and bars with promises of drink specials and other temptations. This especially is true of gay nightlife that brings people far and wide for its openness and debauchery. Visit Soi 2 to 4 in Patpong for the gay nightlife hot spot of Bangkok, where both locals and tourists flock to have a great time and mingle. Telephone Bar is a popular destination, where you can pick up the house phone (yes, the phones do work) and dial the extension of the nearest guy who has caught your eye and say, “Hello.” For the bears and their admirers, stop by Bearbie Karaoke Bar. Just a short walk way is the So Sofitel Bangkok. Popular with LGBT visitors for its proximity to the gay bars, pick from four themes (water, wood, earth, and metal) – all with ostentatious and over the top designs by Christian Lacroix. There is also a rooftop lounge that offers not only a view of the beautiful Lumpini Park below, but also a view of eye candy sipping cocktails at the bar. MAY 04, 2016 25
THE PINK SUNRISE FROM THE PENINSULA. Another destination to rest your head, try snagging a room at the Bangkok Peninsula, where stars like Madonna helicopter in on the roof’s helipad. Don’t let that suggest it’s out of your price limit. Luxury comes at a much more affordable price in Thailand. On the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the Peninsula offers magnificent views of the cityscape, especially at sunrise when the pink sun climbs from out of the abyss of tall buildings. Other highlights during your stay include sunset cocktail cruises down the river, a three-tiered outdoor pool, authentic Thai massages at their tranquil spa, and an afternoon tea service that the hotel is renowned for.
THE GOLD PLATED WALLS OF THE GRAND PALACE. Thailand’s most visited attraction, the Grand Palace is a sight that your eyes must see for themselves. There is beauty absolutely everywhere you turn in the massive complex that once housed the country’s monarchy. From gold plated walls, sculptures, gardens, pavilions, and the famous Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Thailand’s color scheme is the boldest and brightest here. The Palace is revered as an important religious site, so don’t forget to wear long pants and a top that covers your shoulders.
THE ORANGE ROBES OF THE MONKS. An integral part of Thai culture is Buddhism. One of the ways to honor and celebrate is to visit some of the many beautiful temples that dot the landscape. There, you will find monks wearing brilliantly bright orange robes ready to bless you as you kneel at the altar of Buddha. Some temples that are not to be missed for their unique characteristics are the Big Buddha in Phuket, the Chiang Rai White Temple, and The Temple of the Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho in Bangkok. 26 MAY 04, 2016

THE LUSH GREEN LANDSCAPE OF THE ELEPHANT SANCTUARY. The symbols of Thailand, elephants are everywhere. While many of the elephant tourism attractions do not have high standards of living for the magnificent creatures, there are some attractions that are trying to change that. Anantara Resort and Elephant Camp is in the north of Thailand in the middle of the Golden Triangle, a region that borders Myanmar and Laos. The gorgeous resort is tucked on a ridge overlooking lush green jungles, rice fields, and an elephant camp. Established in 2003 as a traditional mahout village, the camp works alongside the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation to perform street rescues, provide employment and a comfortable lifestyle for elephants and their entire mahout families. There, you are able to spend lots of quality time with the grandiose Goliaths, participating in different activities throughout your stay.
THE BLUE WATER BEACHES OF PHUKET. Thailand’s most popular beach destination, Phuket has spectacular scenery, stunning tropical sunsets and the warm blue Andaman Sea. Just a short 45-minute journey from Phuket will transport you to the tropical paradise and famous islands of Koh Phi Phi, the ultimate tropical getaway in Thailand made infamous by the 2000 film The Beach. Amazing, white sandy beaches and breathtaking rock formations boldly rise from the turquoise waters surrounding the islands – making you feel like you are in the world’s quintessential paradise. Energetic nightlife awaits you at Patong Beach, where the epicenter of gay life is concentrated in the Paradise Complex offering plenty of guesthouses, go-go bars, discos, gay saunas, restaurants and bars.
THE INDIGO TEA AT THE ANANTARA CHIANG MAI. When you check into the Anantara Chiang Mai, the concierge greets you with a butterfly pea flower drink that magically turns from clear to indigo in front of your eyes. Bordering the Mae Ping River in this beautiful northern city, Anantara is a luxurious sanctuary of contemporary, Thai and colonial style. While there, visit Chiang Mai’s Night Bazaar. This nocturnal marketplace is filled with stalls selling everything from souvenirs, textiles, food, and plenty of other interesting items. MAY 04, 2016 27

PARTY TRIP

WASHINGTON D.C. DISTRKT C @ DC EAGLE DISTRKTC.COM Every second Saturday of the month, D.C.’s hottest men gather at Distrkt C hosted at the new DC Eagle. The party begins at 10:00pm and doesn’t end until the wee hours of the morning. Expect men in gear, porn star appearances, and go-go dancers that get down and dirty with the audience. Your preconceived notions of preppy Washington will quickly be dissolved after you walk through the door. “It’s worth the trip because the party is sexy and raw in the hottest venue on the East Coast,” promoter Bruce Yelk told us. On June 11, Disrkt C is the official Saturday night party for Capital Pride with resident DJ Mark DeMarko and special guest Manny Lehman. PHOTO COURTESY OF ANTHONY DIFIORE
CHICAGO NEVERLAND FACEBOOK.COM/NEVERLANDPARTIES Don’t we all want to go to where the lost boys are? The notoriously creative Chicago dance party, Neverland, is described as “walking art and the best music.” Founded in 2012, Neverland is a team of savvy artists who can turn the most creative of dreams into a stunning reality. The next event in Chicago is May 27 with an Orwellian Animal Farm theme for the IML. Prepare for a dark and dirty fantasy set at the stroke of midnight in an old barn where a story will unfold about the animal inside each of us. The Neverland team also hosts magical events over Chicago Pride weekend and a totally unique Summer Pool Party on July 2 for Independence Day. 30 MAY 04, 2016

PROVINCETOWN INDEPENDENCE @ THE CROWN AND ANCHOR ONLYATTHECROWN.COM The Crown and Anchor in Provincetown has hosted Independence, a week long Fourth of July extravaganza annually since 2005. This year promises to be the biggest and best year yet, with lots of opportunities for boys to socialize under the sun and on the sand. The inaugural beach party in 2014 was chosen as the best new Circuit event of the year and this year promises to be even bigger with Brian Rafferty and Alan Picus helping out behind the scenes. Taking place on July 3 at Provincetown Harbor, party goers will be able to enjoy The Crown’s breathtaking waterfront location and dance all afternoon to the music of DJ Joe Gauthreaux. Count us in.

LOS ANGELES BEARS IN SPACE @ AKBAR FACEBOOK.COM/BEARSINSPACE It’s a jungle out there. Especially on the streets of the Silverlake neighborhood in Los Angeles. Long-running summer party Bears in Space at Akbar has outgrown its reputation as the quintessential bear gathering and has evolved into a carnival of delight for anyone (cubs and otters too) in Los Angeles. Frontiers reporter Kevin Wilen wrote, “When it comes to daytime hard-partying, it may very well be the most iconic celebration of L.A. culture since the construction of the beloved Hollywood sign.” Summer is just around the corner and for their season opener on May 15, DJs Solar and Dirty Dave will be making their Bears in Space debut with Solar playing a special extended dancefloor set. Beam us up, Daddy. PHOTO COURTESY OF MARIO MANZONI
Sometimes, you just want to hear the divas on the dance floor – and who else do you really need than Bey, RiRi, and Nicki? The Holy Trinity dance floor is a mixed crowd of gays, straights, queers, punks, fems and mascs. The scene is come as you are and leave your ignorance at the door. With Beyoncé’s new album just dropping, we think this party will continue to be packed going into the sweaty dog days of summer. Usually the last Saturday of the month, check out the calendar on the venue’s website to make sure you’re not taking the bus down for no reason. MAY 04, 2016 31
