In this IT era, where institutions possess and process large amounts of confidential and personal information, its security is not a need, but it is a must. Each company should insure that its data is properly secured and is not the target of cyber criminals, accidental lose or employee misuse. Encryption is the solution for securing sensitive data in transit/storage, thus avoiding many data breach scenarios, protecting data even when access controls fail and ensuring data privacy is respected. Encryption helps satisfy many legal requirements for data privacy, protects data in the event of theft (especially with lost & stolen devices) and allows the employees to handle data safely.

Assess technical, procedural and data controls

Ask yourself:

ec Control Compliance Suite

Managing IT security, risk and compliance puts enormous burden on today’s enterprise organizations. Increasingly complex IT infrastructures make it difficult to have proper insight into the overall IT risk and compliance of the company, as well as to control deviations from standards like ISO 27001, PCI DSS or others.

To evaluate how effective you are in following established polices you need to evaluate technical, procedural and data controls throughout your organization. Control Compliance Suite 11 simplifies this process. Control Compliance Suite Standards Manager reduces cost and complexity by automating technical control checks for your entire enterprise. It offers best-in-class pre-packaged content with over 2,900 control objectives mapped to over 45 regulations and frameworks. With support for both agent-based and agentless data gathering options, Control Compliance Suite Standards Manager supports flexible control evaluation across

• In the last compliance audit, how much time and

effort was needed for providing all the necessary information to the auditors? • How do you know that the configuration of your IT

infrastructure is still compliant with the applied standards one month after the audit • Do you want to perform all these manual and

labor-intensive tasks when the next compliance audit comes?

Report on IT risk and compliance Once you have defined policies and evaluated the effectiveness of your controls, it is critical to understand where you stand and provide the right risk and compliance data to multiple stakeholders within the organization for better visibility and improved decision making. Control Compliance Suite 11 allows you to report on your IT risk and compliance posture across the enterprise, combining data gathered from all assets, data sets, controls and policies in a single console for reporting purposes. Web-based dynamic dashboards allow users to select from multiple panel views and filtering options, build actionable reports and drill down to granular data to discover root causes and isolate problem areas.

Gain control of IT risk and compliance

Define policies and controls Usually, policy definition and management is a complex task requiring deep knowledge of regulations and frameworks which are constantly changing. Control Compliance Suite Policy Manager simplifies this process by allowing you to automatically define and manage policies for multiple government regulations, industry standards, and internal mandates. It automatically maps these policies to control statements for both technical and procedural controls, while deduplicating common controls across multiple mandates to eliminate redundant efforts. Control Compliance Suite Policy Manager includes a database of over 150 customizable sample policies and policy templates covering over 60 regulations, frameworks and best practices. This content is automatically updated on a quarterly basis, eliminating the need for organizations to maintain a center of expertise on policies and best practices. Now you can automate the entire IT policy lifecycle from policy definition and review to approval, distribution, acceptances and exceptions.

Symantec Control Compliance Suite 11 allows you to better manage all aspects of your organization’s IT risk, while demonstrating compliance with multiple standards at much lower levels of cost and complexity.

Symantec Control Compliance Suite automates the entire risk management and compliance process, including: • • • •

Control Compliance Suite 11 also features a centralized evidence system allowing you to automatically collect evidence from disparate sources across the enterprise, map this data to policies and store it all in one central repository. This could include vulnerability assessment data, log files from firewalls or other security devices and applications as well as data from the Symantec data loss prevention solution. The new vision of online browsing experience

ith all the transitions in life, we are naturally nervous about change. We had this apprehension when we learned that the VeriSign® Seal would be changing to a Norton Secured Seal. However, our fears were quickly put to rest by Symantec™ Trust Services (formerly VeriSign®). In August of 2010, Symantec™ purchased VeriSign® Authentication Services and as a result, all VeriSign® product names and branding were changed. VeriSign® SSL Certificates and the VeriSign® Trust™ Seal became part of the Symantec™ suite of security solutions and were included in the company's Norton™ branded suite of products. In April 2012 Symantec™ completed the transition of the VeriSign® offerings into the Norton™ security products family by changing the names and logos for all VeriSign® products. The famous VeriSign® "checkmark" - combined with the leading name in personal technology protection - became the Norton™ Secured Seal and is now set to remain as the most recognized trust mark on the Internet.

Symantec Seal-in-Search When customers browse online, they often find a long list of websites vying for their business. Symantec Website Security Solutions feature Symantec Seal-in-Search, which puts the Norton Secured Seal next to the link in search results to show that the website is trusted by Symantec. Before Seal-in-Search, website visitors had to follow a link to see if a website was trusted. Now, the Seal-in-Search offers visual differentiation from the other links in the search results, so that web users are able to trust a link before they click.

lying above the clouds has been a man-kind desire since the beginning of man-kind. YES!, the man has flown to the moon, and got back of-course, but again, for most of the people it’s still just a wish or more - a dream. What’s interesting though is that for most of the people that dream of flying through the clouds, walking safe down on the ground is much more important, even if this means that the flight might be postponed or may not happen in the foreseeable future. There has always been the avant-garde proclaiming the new trends, playing with the newest toys, or just showing off the newest gadgets. But if asked, every single one of them will confirm that somewhere down the basement they still keep non-cloud replica systems, based on the good old proven datacenter concepts and technologies, running for just in case. Just in case, that is, but What case might that be – wasn’t the cloud that perfect playground where You don’t have to worry about the rain (still falling under it)? You know the two sayings, “he, who flies high, (usually) falls low”; or, what goes up must come down”? These have been around nearly as long as the men’s wish to fly, so are they applicable to the IT Cloud? You bet they are! So from pure simple deductive thinking and somewhat of experience, shouldn’t there be some kind of a safety net under the cloud, so all of those

cloud walkers would eventually fall into? Oh yes! – but there’s the catch, no cloud provider will provide it for You, You have to provide it for yourself. So, I ask the question, are non-cloud based systems, aka plain all datacenters still in play, or are they just plain dead? We may be talking, cheat-chatting about clouds, puffy clouds, rainy clouds, clouds of whatever, but if you ask me, for the time being, I prefer sunshine – no clouds around! When the clouds will get as solid as, the ground I walk on today, I may be willing to walk on the clouds and enjoying the sunshine above them - then I might change my mind but since then … let’s get down to earth … Houston?! The old web site was outdated and inflexible to support all of Alkaloid’s products, information and pace of updates. Besides that, the site didn’t reflect the brand image of Alkaloid as the biggest Pharmaceutical Company in Macedonia and as one of the most successful in the region. Although corporate social media profiles were present they needed a lift and a fresh approach bringing all online communications on the same level of quality. Here we present the work that we’ve done together in the past two years since the start of our successful collaboration and the plans for the features and projects that will follow.

PROCESS FLOW

The new website, (implemented on Nextsense’s WebBuilder 3.0 CMS platform) served as a base for the consistent, full circle online experience. The architecture of the site was carefully planned to ensure that the needs of all target audiences are met – the users of Alkaloid’s products, medical personal, investors, employees and job seekers. Every single product and brand in Alkaloid’s vast portfolio is displayed in a clear, consistent matter ensuring that the consumers can always refer the website for product information. The search of pharmaceutical products is done through the Vademecum, an integrated application enabling the general

population and medical personal browse through the drugs by brand name, generic name and pharmacotherapeutic group. The Vademecum presents the prescription and OTC & consumer health drugs in a friendly and easy to use manner serving as an assistant in choosing the right medicine. The specific segments for “Career” and “About investors” serve as micro portals for getting the necessary information for these two groups of stakeholders. In short, the whole marketing communications of the company are presented on the site in 1670 (and rising) pages in a complex yet easily navigable structure.

The number of users of smartphones and tablets is rapidly growing, as well as the time that the users are spending browsing the web through these devices. Mobile internet has an exponential expansion in speed and number of users, it’s definitely here to stay and possibly take a large share in the total internet consumption. As mobile devices are becoming a vital part of our lives, the companies have a responsibility to enable access of their websites on these devices. Recently, Alkaloid had the honor to present the mobile and tablet versions of its web portal, as one of the first pharmaceutical companies to recognize and follow the trend. With acknowledging this fact, Alkaloid shows foresight and willingness to be accessible to the “mobile users”. The step that Alkaloid is taking in the shape of mobile web pages will bring the brand closer to the users and make the information more accessible. The mobile version of the portal (phone and tablet) is technically a resolution responsive web site implemented with the latest HTML5 & CSS3 techniques. The screen resolution and device type dictate how the website will be presented to the user, presenting a custom tailored, device specific user experience. The choice of creating the site using the responsive web design technique provided many benefits among which the most important was that the management of the massive content

Geo•tour•ism n Tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place—its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well-being of its residents.

ExploringMacedonia.com took the initiative to represent Macedonia in a regionally sustainable IT project, designed and co-branded with the global footprint of National Geographic.

In today’s modern and dynamic way of living, getting the right information at the right time is crucial. Social media gives the opportunity to share information and communicate in real time. The transparency of social media empowers people, gives them the opportunity to communicate easily and to be more involved in the public life. The essence of social media is the ability to have a two-way communication, where everybody can contribute to the content. As an old Chinese proverb says Tell me and I will forget, Show me and I may remember, Engage me and I will understand, social media are the best way to engage citizens and bring Government institutions closer to the civic.

The Official Gazette is one of the three pillars of the legislative system in the Republic of Macedonia. The primary function of the Official Gazette is to keep the national legislative database consisting of laws, acts and other regulations, to organize and categorize the legislation and make it publicly available to the citizens. Besides this, the Official Gazette also provides a variety of public services to the citizens and helps them to keep trace with the new legislation and the changes in the existing legislation. Httpool started the project for the Facebook fan page of the Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia in June 2012. The purpose of the project was to start communicating with the citizens, share information with them and promote the services offered by the Official Gazette. Four months after the fan page was created, it engaged more than 1.800 fans. Facebook allows the Official Gazette to achieve dynamic, daily communication

Together with other 5 countries, collaborating on a joint project for Western Balkans, Macedonia was granted a seat to the National Geographic Stewardship Council, accredited to the CEO of ExploringMacedonia.com, Ms. Elena Ivanova. It was promoted with series of photo exhibitions in Ronald Reagan Building and Farragut Square Park, Washington D.C. with support of the USAID Regional Competitiveness Initiative project. with the fans, thus making it become more transparent and open for the citizens. The Official Gazette fan page is used on a daily level to communicate a lot of information about events, news and citizen services. The fan page is also an open place where the citizens can ask questions, give their opinions, and suggest improvements of the work and services offered by this Public Enterprise.

The main activities of the PE Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia are publishing of laws, acts and other regulations in the Official Gazette. Following the spirit of the new age, PE Official Gazette does not lag behind the current world trends and innovations of how to make the legislation available to the Internet audience, how to follow the changes in the legislation and to inform the citizens about them. Internet technology and websites are the windows towards the information world, enabling us to have faster and more efficient ways of communication, information transmission and content presentation. Creating and maintaining the Facebook fan page of the Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia is just another step in that direction - getting closer to the people by making the information process easier and faster. Corporate volunteering from the heart

“We make a living by what we do, but we make life by what we give.” Winston Churchill People by definition are human beings that have certain capacities or attributes constituting personhood, at times showing altruistic activity intended to promote good, or improve human quality of life. Corporate volunteering is not new concept; it is a gateway for those new to volunteering. Workers volunteer their time and energy, either on their own good, good for the community, good for those who volunteer or do well for the company itself. It is a source of new time, talent, and energy. Most important, it brings people who are skilled and who know how to work productively. It brings new social connections and support, new knowledge and skills, psychological fulfillment, etc. Employees are more loyal, more productive. Corporate volunteering gives a positive public image and addition of a new resource to help meet strategic business goals, most often in human resource development and management, public relations and public affairs, and marketing. Corporate volunteering is largely based on perception and intuitive good sense. Furthermore the engagement of corporate volunteers increases the possibility of influencing corporate behavior. Companies

that are ‘good citizens’ contribute in many ways to their communities and companies that are ‘responsible citizens’ participate in ways that can lead to changes in the way the community operates. Employees from Nextsense and Httpool have created a Facebook fun page to express their altruistic activity in sharing the information of the people in need and help them in ways they can. “OdSrce” is a civil initiative with a mission to set up infrastructure and logistics for the community to benefit from charity. It is not a profit organization or non-governmental organization. It is initiative to assist the others in creating a society with proper ethical and moral values. “OdSrce” shares a vision to become a place where we ourselves - all Facebook & Twitter users of the virtual world will implement real actions and will contribute to the smiles of people and friends who need help. We would like to emphasize and to show the real meaning of the term “Social” in Social Media. So far “OdSrce” has organized four social activities and one is still ongoing. Together with the other coworkers and friends of friends, we helped collect clothes for the orphans and homeless children; helped collect equipment and school materials for children who come from poor families; and now are collecting baby clothes for parents who can’t afford that. Because we believe that sharing is caring and social media do share fast.
