The National Federation of Demolition Contractors is more than just a Trade Association. We are a trade body with global recognition as the voice of the demolition industry, setting standards that many demolition trade associations across the world aspire towards. Founded in 1941 to help spearhead London’s post-Blitz clean-up campaign, the NFDC’s members are responsible for more than 90% of all demolition that takes place in the UK. Today, the NFDC is committed to establishing safe working practices for its members and to represent their interests in areas such as training, safety, the environment, waste management, industry guidance, legislative changes and codes of practice. Using an NFDC member gives clients the reassurance that the exacting standards achieved through the Federation site audit scheme provide the best demolition contractors within our industry.
Assurance can be found in the high-quality training all members undertake that distinguishes NFDC members from the rest of the industry. The NFDC manages the National Demolition Training Group (NDTG) in partnership with the CITB ConstructionSkills. The Federation also has its own Training Officer and operates an NVQ Centre at its Head Office in Hemel Hempstead in direct association with NSAC. Furthermore, another key role for the NFDC is the dissemination of information to its members. With legal, financial, economical and legislative information changing at such a rapid pace, the NFDC prides itself on providing members with information that is both timely and relevant via regional meetings regular email bulletins, the Demolition & Dismantling magazine and other publications. We are proud to conclude that Federation members truly are the best in the industry.
