GLAMOUR THAT SHINES
t’s good to speak to you all again and in this GLAMOUR issue of Nfinite Form Magazine we are
Pie de foto. En este caso, un saddened that we have lost one of the most glamorous models the plus size community has ever pie de foto común known, para todas las fotos, describiéndolas unaMia Amber Davis. Nfinite Form was to interview her for this issue; we are saddened that we are a una de izquierda a not derecha y de arriba able to do so as we wanted to share her talents with our readers. So please see our tribute to her in a abajo. Los pies de fotothis verticales ocuparán 9 u 10 issue. líneas como mínimo. Si se llena todo el espacioWe mejor.are so excited about introducing different types of glamour to you. Some say glamour is only for
the celebrity, however, we say differently. Glamour is a look that exudes total exquisiteness. This can be seen in any culture and can also be seen during this season of proms and brides. We have a little bit of each for you in this issue so we will let you be the judge if we accomplished our Glamour Goal. We are going to look at the glamour of kimonos of Japan; I know you will be intrigued by their creation and display. Nfinite Form is also in harmony with the saying, “Kids are People Too,” and we accomplished this by introducing our children and teens model component which you will now see in each issue. Why? It’s because everything begins with our youth and they too can be glamorous, which I’m sure you will agree. Our youth need to feel special and that they too can display glamour in their lives. So I applaud them in their spectacular shoot, they did us real proud. We have so much to share with you this issue that will keep you informed and entertained. We have the infamous former Wilhelmina plus Size Model and now celebrity make up artist Kim Baker who sheds
some light on the modeling industry and what she is doing now. She is truly a Glama-Zon at heart and our spokesperson for NJFFFWeek! Speaking of NJFFFWeek, it is steadily approaching and we are kicking it off with our Sneak Peek, July 15-17, 2011. You will not want to miss this one! Our theme is “Fashion Meets Music.” A lot of our fashion is worn by entertainers and a great deal of fashion trends come from entertainers, so why not combine them in one great fashion event. I hope you all will be able to attend, make sure you read our article about it and see who is on the bill. On Saturday, July 16, 2011, at The Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, NJ, we will have the first ever Disabled Fashion Show, “Rolling the Runway.” This is a component that is near and dear to Nfinite Form’s heart. Outside of the full size community, the disabled are also not given their fair share in society and Nfinite Form is going to do its part in trying to change that stigma. They are people too and we aim to put them in the mainstream of society. I often ask individuals, when you go to the movies and you look in the handicap section, who do you see sitting there? The majority of the answers I receive are, “No one.” So our goal is to try and change that; they should be sitting their enjoying the film just like everyone else. Nfinite Form supports Spinal Cord injury patients and those that are disabled and we sincerely hope that you will join us in our fight for awareness and acceptance. Later that evening at the Richfield Regency in Verona, NJ, we will have our Networking Mixer featuring great entertainment and a glamorous fashion showcase. On Sunday, July 17, 2011, we will be at the Livingston Mall where we will have a full size Modeling Competition with a $1,000 prize and our Retail Sneak Peek Fashion Show. You definitely don’t want to miss any of these events that will lead up to New Jersey Full figured Fashion Week that will take place, September 30, October 1&2, 2011, in ATLANTIC CITY! We are definitely going to have a blast and I look forward to seeing all of you there. So with all the excitement welled up in my being, with this issue I leave you with the words of Webster, “Glamour is The attractive or exciting quality that makes certain people or things seem appealing or special,” Nfinite Forms motto: “Giving Back, Giving Love and Being Real,” because we cannot be any other way
so please do the same, and my personal mantra: “Put God first in all that you do (Psalms 83:18) and you will truly be fulfilled and blessed.

T
NEWARK,NJ Paula Michelle
his brotha is known not just for his Braun but for his brain. This intelligent man can tackle a linebacker and quote Shakespeare all in the same breath. He has a thirst for knowledge and a spirit for the full size community like no other. Before our interview began his words to me were, “I don’t understand the vanity, someone being told you’re not good enough, you’re not pretty enough, their hair is not long enough.” So with words like these readers, you are in for a meaningful message without the sugar, straight no chaser. I now introduce to you our member of the month, Mr. Wil Clayton, who does all facets of construction and home renovation/company restoration from Newark, New Jersey and this is how our conversation started:
I like to get the viewpoint of men when it comes to the full size woman because there are a lot of stigmas and stereotypical images out there what is your view? Yes there is a lot, like they may put up with more than some women or you can tell when they are depicted as lonely or needful or something like that. I don’t find it at all, not at all. What I’ve found are determined people. People that despite the stereotypes, you know, just going to different restaurants and the chairs being too small, it’s really something I think that society has made difficult for them. I’ve been to movie theatres and even right in Newark at Symphony Hall, I went there to see a play, the seats down there are atrocious if you’re over 5’ 5”. I’m just feeling put off by it, those boxes that they try to fit people into. Starr Jones, I don’t find her personally a beautiful woman as far as me being attracted to her. I find her spirit is attractive, I find that her ambition and her accomplishments are attractive. I don’t particularly think that J-Lo is the most beautiful Spanish woman I have ever seen. I’ve seen some on the street that are more attractive. That’s why I like your magazine because when I saw it I said wow this is nice, it’s expressive without being apologetic. I hate apologizing for being who I am or what I am. You know God made me too and the fact that you don’t agree with my look is not my issue, like I remember, during the time of Jim Crow and the Reconstruction in America and all that, I don’t believe slavery ended. I do believe it’s been modified it’s called the Department of Corrections now. It’s still here. I’ll give you an example one part of our world in California you have young men dying right by the hundreds. They are pulling bodies out of the hood, out of these war zones. These urban war zones are made from financial reasons, for economic reasons. You crowd a bunch of people together, you put in resources but you let them have limited access and then you don’t educate them. The public school system is failing, and the stereotypes that we gain are gained from our entertainment. Americans spend billions and billions of dollars on entertainment and the other “E” education is thrown out the window. How the heck can you play basketball, baseball, football, whatever and you make a billion dollars and the person who teaches your child is standing on the picket line for more health care and I know I have gone off the subject.
ON THE
MOVE
No, don’t feel that way, it’s a great interview, it shows concern for issues, that’s always important. If a woman is sultry or a little thicker or a little heavier, if she carries it well and she’s confident and classy. I mean, come on now, you know sometimes stretch pants aren’t made for everybody. So if you know you can’t do the bicycle pants and all that don’t do that. You know, be classy in how you carry yourself. Like Jill Scott is a larger woman who knows how to carry herself, and Toccara. Men are trained to be more visual. What’s beautiful is what you perceive but I have never, ever said to a woman, you’re a size 18 dress size, I don’t like that. That is crazy. You lose so much experience and friendships. My life is richer because I am open and not biased to body types. You know, to say oh well, I will only talk to a big girl or I will only talk to a little girl, I mean be a man, be for real. You know how beautiful that woman is, you know how wonderful the experience is. You can laugh and holding her close to you, I mean you know it’s a difference if you hold some little chick. Let me give you an example, take Jada Pinkett, you know I may feel like I’m holding a little girl or something. She might be too fragile, you know, I might break her in half or something. I find full size women to be very passionate about a lot of things, about life itself.

I
now introduce to you our member of the month,
Clayton, who does all facets of construction and home renovation/company ewark, New Jersey and this is how our conversation started: Now what about you Wil, has your size affected how others view you as an nfinite sized male? I believe I’m considered more of a menace. People are almost frightened by the fear, physical presence of a big man, especially a big, bald head black man. I’m not even a giant, but my presence, the fact that I carry my intelligence like a shield, I have a piercing glare, basically because I’m always, con-
stantly checking to see what’s around me. I’m constantly scanning the area for any threats or opportunities for friendliness or any type of predator response. I’m constantly checking things and being aware to stand out because most people are so involved, concentrating, not aware of the immediate surroundings. In security places where people have to minimize threats, I’m always one of the first ones singled out to be identified and find out who this is and let’s see what he is doing up in here, before maybe a smaller guy or a person of another race. Sometimes, when you go to approach a woman, even if you want to say hello, you know all they can see is this big guy coming. I’ve been told that and I was almost a little put off. Why was I perceived as a threat before being welcome, especially when my ears are down and my tail is wagging? Yeah, being a larger guy you go through that and the clothing, oh my God, coats, suit jackets, shirts, nothing fits the sleeves. If you do go to stores and try to find something you always end up in the Big and Tall section. I guess you have to have categories in order for people to find it but it’s not like you’re going over into a giant size. You’re just going

to a normal size as far as I’m concerned because a man should be 6 feet or better. I’m 6’2” and 260; I’m the littlest man in my family. My oldest brother is 6’9” almost 400 pounds and my other one is 6’6” and 340.
How do you overcome those kinds of obstacles? Well actually I’ve learned to wear the mask you can’t walk outside looking concerned. I remember one night I had a personal problem with a co-worker and when I walked outside, I remember immediately the response I got. It was like, look, I don’t want no trouble and somebody like jumped from me, like they saw the scowl on my face and I remember it has trained me to be at least bland and to keep a neutral face, not smiling. So you won’t be perceived as a threat. Being in the office alone with a secretary, you know you walk into the office and you automatically look up and if there is a certain look on your face, you can see the alarm. You can see the alarm bells ring. So you have to make sure you come in there smiling. Even if you come in there for an adversarial reason you have to be friendly so you don’t push the panic button. Yes, we have a name for it, “Pushing the Panic Button,” and then they start calling for people, Tom, Joe, Mary, come out here, come up here. Can I help you sir. Being a bigger guy going to a job even, most of them want to put you in lifting and toting. Come over here and pick this up, I know you can move this stuff over here. They don’t even see if I can do the calculating or accounts payable or generate more money for the company by being a consultant. They haven’t even explored if those talents are there or not, they just assume, like taking the outside impression instead of the inner person.
Do you feel Nfinite Form is needed in today’s society and if you have the power to change one thing in the full size community what would it be?
Of course, of course, with all the problems that our society places on people, poverty problems and obstacles that’s placed in the way of women, children and everything it’s a beacon of help and if I had the power I would change self perception. Self perception as a badge, not being considered plus size or labeled plus size, not allowing society to depict them or state the name themselves or embrace themselves of themselves and feel as beautiful and useful and part of this society as everyone else.

THE HAIR SPOT
Hair extentions, wigs, lace fronts, and weaves need more than just an occassional brush. The Hair Spot untangles the myths that surronds womens’ hair.
T
he Hair Spot is a new shop that caters to those who truly want luxurious hair to look their best at all times. Opened just this past February it is already becoming the go to spot for wefted weave hair by the ounce. The Hair Spot is the only New Jersey based business that sells 100% cuticle correct hair. The hair industry is a billion dollar industry and with no African American owned businesses for selling hair, The Hair Spot is genuine in its approach and its products. What exactly does cuticle correct mean and is it important?. The answer is an astounding yes. 100 % cuticle correct means it comes straight off the head and the cuticles kept intact and that’s what keeps it from tangling and makes it expensive but it will last you over, over and over again. If there is no cuticle in the hair, they strip it, it’s processed and it will begin to tangle so quickly after you wear it for about a month.
16 NFINITEFORM 2011
Hair selection and length determines the price, however it is well worth its weight in gold. The longest length they carry is 22 inches and that is $195 for four ounces per weft. The curly wavy hair is more expensive than the straight hair. One advantage with coming to the Hair Spot is that you no longer have to go to New York to purchase human hair. It may be expensive to some but one has to reason this way, the amount of money that is spent on hair mixed with
THE HAIR SPOT
The Hair Spot does not sell a product for the money and let you walk out their store, they make sure you understand what you have and how to get the maximum benefit. other products or animals does not last very long and must be repurchased for each weave. If you are an individual that wears weaves on a regular basis in the long run you will spend more than what you would spend for the 100% Cuticle Correct Hair. However when you purchase 100% cuticle correct human hair it will last you for quite a while and it will remain in great shape with minimal shedding if any. It is said that you can keep the hair for three years but The Hair Spot can say without a doubt you will be able to keep it a year so it is a definite investment. If you remember the movie, “Good Hair, Bad Hair,” by Chris Rock, the hair came directly from India off the individual’s head; this is the same hair that was spoken of in the movie. It comes right from India. Approximately one and a half wefts will cover one head. The Hair Spot assists women by educating them on how to maintain the hair. Many women wear weaves but not all know how to care for it. They simply don’t know what to do with it. The Hair Spot sincerely
cares about its clientele. One thing they stress is that you cannot put a lot of product on the hair. In addition, they also wear their product because they believe in it and as they say, “You can’t sell something and not use it yourself.” They have a hair care sheet that they give their customers so that they can gain the best performance from their hair. The Hair Spot does not sell a product for the money and you walk out their store they make sure you understand what you have and how to get the maximum benefit. This is what sets them apart from all other Hair Supply stores. The hair is already on the weft whereas other businesses are custom blending the hair. You think you are getting the 100% human hair but you aren’t you are purchasing a blend. Currently the Hair Spot carries the basic colors; they find that coloring changes the natural texture of the hair. Remember, you get what you pay for and if it’s not 100% cuticle correct its not good quality. NFINITEFORM 2011 17

What is there really to say, that we all don’t already know about her. Oprah went through much turmoil in the early parts of her life and the groundbreaking progression to fame and glamour, with broadcasting the turmoil, joys, talents of others as a talk show host. The Oprah Winfrey Show was broadcast nationally, and quickly became the number one talk show in national syndication. In 1987, its first year of

The following year, the show received its second consecutive Emmy as Outstanding Talk/Service Program, and Oprah herself received the International Radio and Television Society’s “Broadcaster of the Year” Award. She was the youngest person ever to receive the honor. her accomplishments had yet more firsts to follow with the production of her own production company, Harpo Productions, Inc., in 1986. Harpo is the became a magazine publishing company and the Internet site, Oprah then became the first woman in history to own and produce her own talk show. KIM BAKER
Former Whelimina Model
Exclusive
T
here are models and then there are Models, however, there are some that leave a lasting impression on you as soon as your eyes see them walk the runway. Kim Baker was that Model and she still carries the same magnetism and charisma when she walks into a room. This former Wilhelmina plus-size model and beautiful, dark diva is a step above the rest when it comes to glamorous fashion, style and makeup. We at Nfinite Form are proud to announce that we have Kim as our spokesperson for New Jersey International/ National Full Figured Fashion Week in September. Kim is a celebrity makeup artist genius and her skills on the face are astounding! This newlywed is married to free agent and former New England Revolution Soccer player extraordinaire Joseph Nouky. She is also a wonderful mother of two daughters who also are beautiful free spirits that are a direct representation of Kim’s magical aura. So grab a drink, relax yourself and join our conversation as we speak with this dynamic personality about her life, aspirations and upcoming projects…….
and before I could even say anything to her, she said, “You should be a model.” So that started my whole obsession with looking into modeling. My icon back then was Iman who was the epitome of Black beauty and people use to tell me that I resembled her. So this really started my fascination and interest in the fashion industry. Always loving beauty and being appreciative of physical and spiritual, whether it was male or female, I always had an eye for it. I was always stimulated by my vision. I mean, not a vision of myself but of beauty period and I think that is what ultimately led me to makeup artistry. What was the highest point in your modeling career and the lowest that you can remember? The ultimate was a Vogue Cover try and also shooting at John Lennon’s house. The lowest was being on trial for conspiracy, I plan to write a book about it someday.
Kim, what made you decide to enter the world of fashion as a model?
We will have to wait for the book on that one, but tell me from your experiences in modeling, how did that actually spur on your desire to become a make-up artist and leave the modeling behind?
What made me want to get into modeling is that everywhere I went and I mean everywhere I went people would say, “You should be a model, you should be a model.” All ethnicities would say it, Black people, White people, Indian people, everybody would say it back then when I was a teenager, that I should be a mode. What kind of confirmed it for me was when I met Brooke Shields
Well, the initial thing that started it was when I first became a model, I was infatuated with the prospects of what could be as a model but then I noticed there was still a lot of racism that existed. So, I wanted to be judged by what I was capable of doing and not by the color of my skin. So, I knew ultimately, the make-up artistry would allow me to show my creativity without being judged by my
22 NFINITEFORM 2011
color. Also, it gave me a platform to stand on for people in the industry to respect me as an artist and my opinion. Whereas when I was a model people use to be like you know you’re just a pretty model, just stand up there and shut up and model. But, when I became a make-up artist people would ask, “Hey, Kim, what do you think about this? Do you think we should do it like this or do you think we should shoot it over here? “So they respected my creativity a little bit more. I was more valued. How did you develop your own sense of
style, because I know when I look at you, you always have different looks? It’s all about the mood. How I feel. Even on myself I change my makeup. One minute I can be very dramatic, one minute I can have a very clean natural makeup look. It’s just how I feel, my attitude. The same thing I do when I’m working as an artist on a muse, a model, it’s all about the feel of the clothes, the feel of the setting. It’s just like a regular artist, through the years I’ve worked with everybody from Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Toni Braxton, Kimberly Stewart, Jade Jagger who is Mick Jagger’s daughter, Michael Baisden, Laurence Fishburne and so many more. I’ve worked on Essence, Harpers Bazaar and a host of other magazines. So by working on these individuals and more and for great magazines I’ve learned and mastered my sense of style. Kim, what do you get from doing your make-up artistry or should I say what do you get out of it? It makes me happy. I get to travel and work with talented people. I get to be part of a creative effort to make something come to life. Making it go from a thought to actually seeing it on film and to know that I’m a part of it. Like, I just finished doing a new campaign for AOL. The world is going to see that. The world is going to be looking at that imagery on their website. It’s a picture that comes on the moment you key in AOL and 160 million people around the world are going to see that image and it’s my work that they are looking at. I did a poster for Americas Next Top Model in Times Square and one day while it actually stood there my mom said, “Nice photo,” and I said, “Yeah, your daughter did the makeup and she said, “Wow, nice!” That was about three years ago. How long have you been doing makeup, when did you actually start modeling?
A Natural Style Some can only Make-up
I started 15 years ago but I started magazines about 10 years ago. I started modeling at the age of 13 abut I became a professional when I graduated from high school. My first magazine was Essence Magazine I did a spread and I was 17 then. All together I modeled from 1985 to 2001. My heart left it in 2001. I was truly going through the motions there was no passion about it like it use to be, that was when I knew it was time to move on.
Let’s talk about the projects you are venturing to do now, your passion. I know you love your makeup but you are also doing some other things. I’m getting ready to launch my Glamazon beauty line which will be out the latter part of the year and everyone should be on the lookout for my reality TV show Mommy Moguls. With the Glamazon beauty line, what made you want to come out with it and what makes your beauty line different from other ones launched by former models? I am a make-up artist, I didn’t hire one to develop my line. I’ve worked as a make-up artist on Americas Next Top Model and New Jersey Housewives and as a make-up artist I’m coming from a make-up artists’ perspective. I work with talent every day. Some former models that now have make-up lines had makeup put on them as a model but still don’t know the craft of it. If you are not the actual artist you wouldn’t know, that’s the difference, I know the craft. I want to take a little bit from all the lines I love and work with to use and create one line at a moderate price. The same service I give to a Toni Braxton is the same service I want to give to the everyday woman. Why should a woman not be treated like a princess or a celebrity just because she works at a Wal-mart. If she is spending to buy my brand, I want to provide her with the customer service that she deserves. The same woman that walks into Bloomingdale and gets treated special because she’s shopping there should be treated the same because she is shopping in Target. Being a Glamazon Beauty I want to treat her as the Glamazon she is. Why did you choose Glamazon as your name? Glamazon, because I ’m a woman who loves wearing stilettos, I stand 6’4” and I love glamour. I love make-up, I love hair, I love nails, I love pocket book and I love shoes. So everything in glamour I love and most women do love those things as well. The Glamazons of the world want to rule their nation and now it’s time for us, the Glamazons, to take it back. We look fabulous where ever we go, whether it’s to work or to the gym. The Glamazon woman is the woman who likes to put on a little bit of lip gloss before she goes to the gym. Every woman has it in her and she has to tap into it. Tap into your Glamazon. Mommy Moguls your upcoming Reality TV Show, tell me about that. Mommy Moguls is a reality show that I am using as a platform for my brand for Glamazon
and also to showcase that there are posi-

tive women out here. Not all women are NeNe Leaks that decide they want to be something at 46 years old and instead of being something positive they’re showing something negative on TV, that Black women are head rolling, eye popping and finger snapping. We don’t have to go there. My friend Shannon and I, we disagree but we respectfully disagree. We don’t have to be ghetto about it. So my platform is to show that we are entrepreneurs and we are fathers we are wives and we are productive and positive women and if we do disagree we do it with class. Is the show primarily for women of color? No, it’s for everyone, it’s a mixed cast, it’s me Kim Baker a.k.a. Kim B. the Glamazon. There’s Shannon Cook who is my manager and business partner, there’s Gleshia Joyner Givens, who is Little Kim’s Publicist, there’s Lacole Broadus who is a Fitness Trainer and designer, she designed Jay Z’s Line, Eminem’s Line and Nicky Hilton’s Line. There is Kerrie Roberts a number one country artist in Nashville and we are all friends and we are all positive. Speaking about the plus size industry, where do you see it going in the future because it seems like everyone is starting to ride this wave like it’s taking off. Do you think it’s just a notion or a flash in the pan that’s going to burn out? The United States has the largest number of full figured women. I feel that women should come out, stop being in denial and support who they are. If you’re wearing a size 14/16 why are you buying vogue magazine? You’re not wearing anything in it. So, I think we have to be accepting of ourselves and be realistic about who we are and just because you are a size 14 or 18 does not mean you have to style yourself as some old frumpy, bed sheet wearing woman. It has to be more of us supporting who we are and acceptance, accepting who we are and embracing who we are. I feel like who we are as a plus size industry will be bigger than the straight industry. If only women would come together and support each other more. I think so many people are trying to do the activist thing, I received an email from someone I met at Mia Amber Davis’ funeral and they were a plus size activist. Well, guess what if we work on ourselves and who we are activisiming for, If our numbers come together because there is power in numbers, if we support and buy, trust me, the designers are going to follow. It’s the people, the people determine which way the market goes, you know. I know we touched on the support issue the last time we spoke. There are a lot of full size organizations out there, but they are so busy competing with one another that they are not bonding and supporting one another so they can make the agenda 24 NFINITEFORM 2011
known to the mainstream so they can make a difference. As long as they keep competing nothing is going to get done because they’re not focusing their attention and energy in the right area. Exactly, “Instead of worrying about what the guy is doing in the yard next to you, you should tend to your own yard and make that grass grow.” You can quote me on that one.
I know Nfinite Form is trying to make a difference in that area we are having a Size Acceptance Summit in January 2012 and we are inviting the full size industry to set the platform, dialogue and then have everyone go back to their perspective areas to uplift and push for change. I keep stressing that there are too many individuals in this world for one person to have a monopoly on the full size community, it’s just impossible. That’s a beautiful thing. You don’t see other designers having to compete against each other and there are so many of them. People are going to buy what they like it don’t make a difference if you make it or I make it. If it’s something that someone likes and its fashionable and trend setting and wearable, people are going to buy it. That’s so true, and you know we have the NAACP and many other activist organizations and an individual can belong to every single last one of them. I don’t understand what the problem is. I’m going to support you and you and you because I believe in what you’re saying and doing, so why wouldn’t you support me. We have to take that crab-in-thebarrel mentality and throw it out the window. Exactly and you know what I have to tell you, I am definitely on that panel, we need to have that and we have to lecture on this. I would really love to speak as one of the pioneers in the plus size arena and say listen what is going on, this industry is completely different than the one I knew of. We all made money, we all worked, we were all happy. I talk to a lot of plus size models today and I hear a lot of negativity. Another model that I know who is plus size and was always on the cover of Mode Magazine, she said the same thing, “I don’t know what’s going on with the plus size market today but it isn’t anything like when we were modeling.” We are working on changing that and we look forward to having you on the panel for the Size Acceptance Summit Kim. Together we really need to change things, it’s not going to get any better if someone doesn’t stand up and say, “Let’s Stop the Nonsense!” Some of us have to be willing to put those shoes on but we are only as good as those who stand with us. So hopefully with you and other full size organizations we can make that happen and make the change. Nfinite Form is here and is not going anywhere. We are trying to make a difference and we hope that everyone will enjoy and benefit from what we are doing in the full size community at-large male and female. I look forward to it along with moving forward with my television production and keeping my make-up line fresh and updated throughout the years. My brand is headed towards international, but first it will be the US, then the WORLD. Kim, I ask this question of everyone I interview, if you had the power to change one thing in the full size community, what would it be? That this industry be totally accepted, that it be accepted the same way the smaller size market is. I would like to see everybody treated as an equal and I would like to see everybody represented when it comes to doing campaigns because the real woman is size 14 and up. NFINITEFORM 2011 25

She stated, “No agency would accept me because of my height.” Shervon further stated, I heard about Nfinite Form from Ms. Shebra Jones, who is our Model Development

Coordinator.” She always knew that somehow she would be able to walk the runway; there would be an avenue somewhere out there that would see what she had to offer. When she found Nfinite Form she knew this was her chance, she said, “Nfinite Form gave me that chance to learn how to be a professional full size model and she loved what Nfinite Form was all about.” There are many women who do not feel good about themselves in society, regarding the mentoring programs that Nfinite Form has Shervon said, “I love the mentor-
ing programs that Nfinite Form provides, and it helps increase my self esteem. It made me a stronger woman. It transformed me to be a wonderful independent spirit.” Shervon stated that she likes to shop at TJ Max, Macy’s, Fashion to Figure, and H & M. With this in mind she stated, “My goals are to complete school and obtain my Master of Social Work Degree.” Along with working towards her Master’s Degree, she is also in the process of starting her own online shoe store that will also cater and carry sizes that full size women can wear that are both affordable and stylish. Shervon feels that society has not accepted the full size community. She stated, “Society still labels the full size community as fat, unhealthy, and unattractive. I feel as though society looks down on the full size person.” Shervon tries diligently to show the world that full size women are not just big and bold. They are classy, sophisticated and exemplifies fashion just as the smaller models do.
African American full size woman are often looked upon as loud with no style but have plenty of confidence being in their skin, however, Shervon defies that stereotypical view and you see the difference when she walks on the runway, she demonstrates that African American full size women can go toe to toe with anyone else in the modeling fashion runway industry. Nfinite Form is here to change how society views the full size woman. We are here to up lift, empower and up build the average person and transform them into confident men and women. Size knows no color, gender or age and we are striving to teach others how to love themselves in the skin that was created for them to be in. Shervon has reached that plateau and strives to show others they can to. Look out for Shervon as she rocks the runway during New Jersey International National Full Figured Fashion Week’s Sneak Peek, July 15-17, 2011.
Nfinite Form gave her that chance to learn how to be a professional full size model and she loved what Nfinite Form was all about.

When it comes to dating where does a full size individual in a regular size community go? Renee-Hillside, NJ Wherever she wants to go, as long as she goes with dignity and class. 85% of women today are full figured and looking good. Some men prefer a full figured woman, especially if she is confident about whom she is. So make sure when you step out your attire fits you with style and class. So look out, if thin is in phat is where it’s at.
How do you overcome jealousy? Palace-Belleville, NJ To overcome something means to conquer or overpower. So first you need to understand where the jealousy is coming from, maybe not enough attention growing up? Picked on as a kid or just your own insecurity? Most times it’s not the other person themselves the jealousy is directed to but what it is that individual has or how they make themselves look and you don’t have that. Whatever it is you need to direct your energy in a positive direction, maybe take up a hobby, help someone in need or even some volunteer work. When you help someone it makes you feel better. Look at yourself and see where you can make changes if you admire something in someone else. So, work hard to overpower those feelings of jealousy. *If you have a question that’s been on your mind, ask Ms. Sound Advice, email nfiniteform@gmail.com, it my not be what you want to hear but it will always be the truth! 300 million people suffer from Asthma and it’s estimated that the number of people with Asthma will grow more than 100 million by the year 2025! That figure is absolutely astonishing. Asthma is as serious a condition as Diabetes or Hypertension and is the most chronic disease among children. Asthma accounts for over 500,000 hospitalizations per year. While there is little difference in the rates between Caucasian children and African American children, the African American children experience higher rates of activity constraints, hospital visits/stays and deaths than Caucasian. This has led to a growing concern for the disproportionpproximately

From 2001 to 2009 the rates for Asthma have grown among African American children. These rates were the highest, almost a 50% increase. challenges with her children’s interaction with
each other because they all had
different developmental processes.
A long road awaited her but she
facilitated the road map to successful family life.
The picture perfect mom knew what she wanted in her family portrait and set it to focus.
She made her
youngest son with autism learn to
communicate...from the progression of
non-verbal to sign-language to actual verbalization.
She did not take “NO” as a solution to her son’s cognitive development. She gave her children the
ability to accept obstacles and the mind set to emerge as an
Olympian. There
were no mental crutches allowed in her household.
She felt that they were all capable children and didn’t label them based upon handicaps or disabilities.
Mrs. Story gave motherly love equally to her sons and expected them to be able to naturally reciprocate that love.
She is no stranger to discipline and feels this is lacking in homes. Mrs. Story states that parents are afraid to discipline children because they are
DYFS (Division of Youth and Family Services) or that their child will call 911. “Discipline,” parents, doesn’t mean to harm your children but scared of
to set firm guidelines and repercussions
for disobedience.
Disappointingly, par-
ents are allowing the children to hold the rod that is outlined in the
Bible.
She feels a mother has endured the labor pains and the appearance of
stretch marks so the child doesn’t run the show.
She understands that chil-
dren must express themselves or feel that they are valued but they are not granted power to over ride any motherly suggestions or permitted to have attitude that usurp her judgments.
She
knows that children don’t always see to eye with their parents decisions and may not like mom afterwards but that’s ok
, children don’t have to like our rules but they will respect them. This mother demands RESPECT from her son’s , she feels it prepares them for the real world.
Her view is if they don’t listen
or respect you how are they going to respect the secular authorities.
Respect should be a mandate in a mother’s tone and everyday structure.
Mrs. Story’s motherly advice Please....
1. Instill values from infancy. Don’t wait until they get taller than you to start. Values have to be built so time is a factor it’s not something that can be rushed. 2. Mothers and fathers, if you are still present please try to work out any marital problems before deciding to walk away because the kids suffer from those decisions. 3. Watch and listen to your child’s association. Stay on top of your child’s where abouts. If parents did this more often we wouldn’t have so many teen drug-users. This from lazy parenting? Phone- Call check -Ins will ensure your child’s safety when unsupervised . Check -in times must be scheduled whether hourly or at set time-frames with the who, what, when , and why’s being answered. Mrs. Story feels she’se not going to give her children enough rope to hang themselves. 4. Stop Letting the T.V. Be the baby sitter.
This is what has helped with her three teenage sons, who
are known to be re-
spectable young men.
There is no allowance
for foul language whether on televison
or from them verbally.
No street hanging pants. She doesn’t want anything that is

Thousands of teachers, social workers, union members and more took part in a march in May in New York against Mayor Michael Bloomberg's plans for wide-ranging budget cuts -- and against the Wall Street bankers they blame for the city's budget woes.
THAT CATER
The NYPD arrested several marchers, but it did not dampen the demonstration which took in a number of colorful signs, loud crying chants and a stilt-walker. The May 12 Coalition's organizers promised a big turnout of more than 10,000 marchers, and while immediately pinning down the crowd's size proved difficult, at

least that number turned out.
There were in attendance demonstrators from the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) which faces more than 4,000 teacher cuts if Bloomberg's budget is enacted as is, these number in the thousands. Rev. Al Sharpton, UFT President Michael Mulgrew and other city councilmembers and state elected officials laid the blame for the budget cuts squarely at Bloomberg and Wall Street's feet. "Wall Street recovered, hedge funds got stimulated, and now they want to lay off teachers and close day care centers," Sharpton said. "We're going where they sent the money," he said of the march. Organizers claimed the city could prevent budget cuts by reinstating the state's "Millionaire Tax," ending subsidies for large companies that failed to meet job-creation targets and renegotiating city contracts with the big banks. They estimate their proposals could save New York City $1.5 billion and billed the event as a demonstration not just against the Bloomberg budget plan but also as an effort to "make the banks pay."

ello all! Summer is finally here and in last issues magazine we pretty much covered the trends for us adults for spring/ summer. Now, what about our lovely children? What do they have to look forward to? Okay, they say ladies first right? So girls are first. There are a lot of things to look forward to for little girls; some of it is mini versions of us as women. So, if any of you are Mothers with mini me’s, as I call them, then you will love this. I can’t believe the assortment of styles to choose from! There are rompers, maxi dresses; jersey knit dresses, smocked tanks, sequin graphic tees, shift dresses and crochet trim dresses. Most of these can be found at The Children’s Place. I don’t know if any of you shop there for your children but they have the look to keep your little ones stylish.

to summer Chic graphic tank tops roll waist shorts and swimwear consisting of one pieces and bikinis are the thing right now and has been on the scene since summer of 2010. I’ve also seen guard shirts and board shorts that can be worn instead of a swimming suit. Tank dresses and terry foodie dresses are worn as cover ups over the swimming suits. These items are located at Old Navy, JC Penney and universally everywhere. Now let’s talk shoe wear, we have ballet flats, wedge peep toe sandals and slip on sneakers. Again these can be universally found in all stores for children. Here are some prices to give you a guide, breezer Mary Janes -children place $7.95 slip on sneakers- children’s place $19.95 , jelly sandals- children’s place $9.50, boardwalk sandals -children place 2 for $24.00 or one pair for $12.00 Boy’s now it’s your turn because they need to look good too. The summer fashion trends are patriotic with plaid styles. They have sports tank tops and basketball shorts, graphic tank tops which are also on polo’s, tee shirts and plaid button up shirts. Linen pants are also available for boys this summer. These styles can be found at old navy at very affordable prices. Bottoms for this summer which are very popular are plaid, cargo
and chino shorts. Now for their swimwear, swimming trunks of course, and rash guard shorts. Shoes: moccasin shoes-children’s place $19.95 campfire slip on shoes $19.95 rocker slip on $19.95 breezer fisherman sandals $7.95 low top sneakers ranging from $19.95 and up, high tops $16.50 I hope my information helped you parents to keep your children in style this summer. So go ahead and shop for your little ones and let them be ready for the days of summer fun!

lamour is not exclusive to adults there are younger ones who also emit the ways of glamour as well. Young sunshine radiating rays of beauty for the entire world to see on a daily basis is what they are. Just as we need the sunshine to warm us, we need the visions of these young Glamour Girls to warm our hearts. Today young girls are not handling themselves as such and we want to encourage them to remain the sweet innocent ones they are. Fashion is Nfinite Form’s Platform to address issues and what better way to dress these young Glamour Girls than in glamour dresses from Tomika Williams, CEO of Night of Elegance, (See her story in this issue of Nfinite Form). These young flowers are going to blossom on the runway in 2012 so be ready for them. Our youth need something positive they can hold onto and claim as their own and the fashion runway is going to assist them in doing just that! There was a time when young girls were sugar and spice and everything nice, however, teen pregnancy is on the rise, smoking is pressured by peers, drinking is a young party craze and with all these pitfalls
facing them in life, our young girls need direction, guidance, understanding and most of all love. Parents do the best they can but for a certainty we are living in trying times and with the demands that they have on them, they find it hard sometimes to have the time to share in everything that affects their girls. Nfinite Form’s Mentoring Program and Youth Initiative is here to assist parents in working with their little princesses. As the saying goes, “You have plenty of time to be grown, stay a child while you can.” So, with our young Princesses in mind, along with Tanya Sweet Preston of Bishop Taylor Manor, Nfinite Form will introduce and collaborate with her on “Princess for a Day.” Our young ones need to know what it feels like to feel special, wanted, needed and most of all appreciated. Mentoring our youth is essential to self awareness, growth and esteem.

ONE, DON’T S DO
ONE, TWO, THREE, DON’T SAY CANT OR IT’S DOUBLE TIME. These are familiar words to the New Jersey International National Full Figured Fashion Week Models. Yes, they are the words of their Personal Trainer, Reggie Lamptey (See Reggie’s article in the H.I.M. section). Getting into shape is never easy, but if you are going to rock the runway then you have to do what’s necessary. The models work very hard on Sunday mornings. They get their early, ready for the work-out. Reggie shows no mercy, he knows that regardless of our outcries to stop, it’s what we need. Yes, I said we, the founders are there too, doing laps and squats to get the job done. Although we are not gracing the runway, we too have to set the proper example for our models to follow. We all know that when any of us want to stop we holler, “Nfinite Form,” because we are not allowed to say, “Can’t.”

NATURAL GLAMOUR
News media at times puts a slant on what they portray to you the viewer, just enough to serve up a biased dish of propaganda all set and ready to go! In reality the brain actually processes or interprets what our natural eyes see, thus if over time we are constantly exposed to that which is negative or bad sooner or later we are bound to be affected. How can we stay positive and motivated when we are bombarded with negative images and a steady diet of bad news? While i do not profess to have all the answers , there does appear to be some practical things we can do , for example their is the all to familiar adage ... YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT! very now and then an organization arises from the mist that is totally ahead of its time and takes the nation
by storm. TNT-ThickNThicker is that organization. Shawn Montgomery a.k.a. DJ Money Makin, from Mt. Vernon, NY, is the one at the helm and is a visionary who has the full size community at his pulse with his weekly online Officially Rated Thick Show on In the Mixx radio, Saturday’s from 5pm to 7:30pm. He is gifted when it comes to spinning the vinyl and representing all that is positive. I had the pleasure of speaking with him regarding his show and his mission for the full size community, listen in as we conversate: The first thing I wanted to talk about with you is the name of your company, what made you come up with that particular name? Well, I moved down to Texas, I was down there for a year and when I
80 NFINITEFORM 2011
was down there I was searching on the WEB and I knew I wanted to come up with a company in the entertainment business to start it off. My thing was a lot of thick ladies a lot of plus size and I kept seeing companies with the names and all kind of names and you know I thought, what is something hot that I could connect with a plus size woman or the plus size industry. That’s when I thought about ThickNThicker and I said wait a minute, it’s always plus size this, BBW that, super size BBW. I wanted to get away from all of that. Instead of categorizing someone on the name plus size or BBW, let’s categorize them under ThicknThicker. What made you want to go into the plus size arena? Well basically being around a lot of friends who were plus size and kind of catered to them, they were real cool people in my life. When I’ve seen people in the summer time, when
I use to be outside when I was younger, I use to see who was always looking at the skinny girls. I use to say, “Why are you always looking at them, the thick things are the ones who look nice.” So my thing was I grew up, now that I’m older, I might as well come out with a company that’s reppin all the thicker ladies. A lot of companies were dealing with the plus size industry but they really weren’t recognizing them. People were turning away models. They were looking good but they would look at them and turn them away because of their age or they were a little too much overweight. How do these companies say they have plus size models and the models aren’t even plus size? So my company is basically ThickNThicker, LLC and one of the first ventures I went into was the Officially Rated Thick Show and that was an off-shoot of the company. The show is the first thing I started out with under the umbrella of ThickNThicker. When did the Officially Rated Thick Show start and what would you say is your favorite show thus far? September of 2010 and my favorite show was when I had all the hip-hop pioneers on my show. Do you represent more than just the plus size community? Yes, I deal with R&B artists, Hip-Hop artists, all companies and facets of different industries but my main focus is the plus size community. What would be your favorite plus size industry show that you’ve done thus far? I’ve done live interviews with 12 Plus Entertainment and I’ve done a live

party interviewing with Brooklyn Big Boys. It was a good outlook, people came through and the clubs were promoting that, so that was an environment that I enjoyed being in. What is your vision for ThickNThicker? My main goal is to be international. We already have representatives in Tennessee, Las Vegas and North Carolina. We are getting ready to do events in Atlanta, Vegas and by the time everything manifests we should have a club probably in the mid-west, the east coast and a radio station in the east coast. Our launch party is forthcoming in August and anyone interested can go to the website www.thicknthicker.ning.com. So who is on your team that makes the big wheel of TNT turn? I have a Special Guest Co-Host who is Simone Monae Walls, my PR person is Nushylove also Karen who goes by Lady K who is also a Special Guest Co-Host and Mr. Flicz. My two models Patrice and Jennifer Laws. I know you served in the armed forces, is that where you developed your business savvy?

H.I.I.M.
When people use to come and see me they would say why do you call yourself DJ Money Makin and I would say because I make the money, the money don’t make me. It don’t matter how much money I make I still remain the same. So what would you change if you had the power regarding society and the full size community?
Stereotypical things the way people categorize a plus size woman as unhealthy. As an industry as a whole when it comes to models. If you see somebody that’s curvy and they look good, because of their age they walk them out the door and say you’re too old to be a model and that is not necessarily true. So, I am here to say that when it comes to models it doesn’t matter what age you are. If you got it going on, you got it going on.

I guess you could say that, I served years in the army; I’m a cold war era disabled veteran. When I got out I went to college and I have an Associate’s Degree in Office Technology, then I went back and got my Bachelor’s in Business Advancement and Information Systems at Monroe College. In my youth I use to DJ and rap with a lot of well known artists. As I got older I said, man, I might as well do something I love to do and my name is reflective of that. Basically I picked the name Money Makin because I use to DJ when I was in the military in G e r m a n y.

Instead of using plain old sandwich bread, put them on croissants, onion rolls, or foccacia bread. These types of breads are delicious and offer a hint of quality to the taste buds. 3.Chocolate covered strawberries...This delectable treat is not only romantic in nature but also a complimentary dessert for the health conscious woman. 4. Sam wanted an opportunity to display her vibrant display of kimonos to a western audience and give the Kean community the privilege to have first hand exposure physically and visually to authentic Japanese clothing outside of Japan.” The title of the project Henshin Kimono: Assimilating Traditional Kimono with Modern Fashion derives from Henshin or transforming our views about the kimono and incorporating it into our everyday lives. For this exhibit, Sam planned to create a series of contemporary wearable art and during the opening reception she gave demonstration on how to wear a kimono with all the necessary accessories

When you think of a Kimono, what is the first image that comes to mind? Geisha? Anime? Maybe, but these responses do not convey the spirit of the kimono. This simple T-shaped garment has evolved over a two-thousand years history, but the word itself is actually quite modern. Ki derived from the Japanese word kiru meaning wear, while mono meaning thing, was used as a term to distinguish Japanese clothing from those of foreigners’ during the Edo or Tokugawa Era (1603-1868). Though admired for its tradition, today, your average person, Japanese native or not, feels kimono are old-fashioned and difficult to wear. Sam adamantly quoted Dalby saying, “Most Japanese women are nearly as unaccustomed to the proper manner of wearing Kimono as a foreigner would be.” How could we hope to participate in this aspect of Japanese culture made complicated by rules and regulations? The answer: confluence; mixing traditional styles with that of modern conveniences. There is a small growing population around the world that is giving new life to the art of kimono and Sam is a part of this growing number and to these entrepreneurs, kimono are not exclusive to special events, such as
graduations or weddings, but something to be worn everyday as well as elements of kimonos should be incorporated into formal and casual attire. With the world becoming more global daily, it is imperative for Americans to learn of other cultures; the kimono allows your average person to participate in another culture, but in an entertaining way. This confluence allows women to take something exclusive to one culture and adopt it into their own. Sam has done extensive research on the kimono for the past year which involved: The history of the kimono, which shows the significant historical facts pertaining to the kimono. Why the kimono is extraordinary, where she learned about key facts
that not only make the kimono a unique member of the fashion world, but also what makes it special. And finally, Henshin Kimono she gained knowledge of the techniques used to create her exhibit. In preparing for her research Sam stated, “For record keeping I chose to take notations in my journal to document my research and hands on experience. Honestly, I would love to continue designing/ creating kimonos and spreading knowledge of how to incorporate them into everyday wear. In the future maybe conduct courses in how to wear a kimono. Change the hip line (right now kimonos are cylindri-
cally shaped), who knows I may want to add a waistline?

n Thursday, May 5, 2011, The City of East Orange, Division of Senior Services gave its first Annual Golden Steps Fashion Show at the newly built Bowser Family Senior Center! This was a monumental occasion for the seniors who were involved. It took a great deal of preparation, dedication and stick-to-itiveness to get this event rocking and rolling. Paula Michelle of Nfinite Form, LLC was the Commentator and made the seniors come alive. She was also the Modeling Instructor and boy did she make all who took part shine like the stars. It was a festive occasion the room was decorated in lavender and white and everyone graced the runway with style and class. The theme of the runway show was, “Casual Dress & Sunday’s Best.” You couldn’t tell these Golden Steppers that they did not represent their fair city well. The Honorable Mayor Robert L. ULTIMATE VISIONS HAIR

ULTIMATE VISIONS HAIR
M
elvina Boggs is the owner of Ultimate Vision Hair Studios in Bloomfield, New Jersey. She is a pacesetter when it comes to the world of hair. Having styled and cut hair on her dolls since the age of 6 or 7, she knew she enjoyed working with hair. Although initially wanting to become a teacher, through her enthusiasm for hair she is able to express her creativity. Mel as she is affectionately called has taken several steps to get where she is, from vocational school she took hair up as a trade and by the time she was a junior she had her permit and was working for a salon in Montclair, New Jersey. So Mel is no stranger to the world of hair she has been doing hair professionally for 24 years since the age of 14. It was this young woman’s desire and goal to have a salon of her on since the age of 21. This yearning desire led her to progress and launch her own shop when she was 26 and she has been going strong in the hair salon business ever since. It’s from this vast experience that she notices from her being a full size woman and being confident that it rubs off on her full size clientele. Her full size clients are confident and in her words, “They are Divas!” The name Ultimate Vision Hair Studios goes back to Mel’s early 20’s when she said, “It is my ultimate vision

P
to have my own hair salon.” She took that notion and decided that is what the salon will be christened. Mel not only has her very own beauty salon but she is also the esteemed owner of M&N Beauty Supply at 72 Dodd Street. In a market that is almost totally owned and run by Koreans, Mel is one of the few African American owned beauty supply stores in Northern, New Jersey. It is well stocked with all the products that you would find at any other shop and the prices are comparable, despite the myth that an African American beauty supply store will charge more for their products because they cannot get them for the same price as their Korean counterparts. Mel has taken great strides to make sure that the pricing is the same or lower than the Korean Beauty Supply stores, even to the point of doing a survey on social media. She also has personally gone to all the Korean Beauty Supply stores in her area to make sure her prices are not higher so her customers can be confident when making purchases. Mel clearly states, “The one advantage that M&N Beauty Supply store has that average one doesn’t have is that I am a licensed stylist with 21 years of experience. Therefore when they come in and want a particular product, they can get the right product for your hair versus someone just wanting you to purchase. In addition they don’t know hair and especially, African American hair but they will sell it to us.

Mel once a month offers her networking spa services where she has outside vendors come in and offers these services to the clientele. It’s her way of showing support for those who may not have a venue and need the business, Mel said, “It’s our way of supporting one another, one person helping another, you bring something to me and I bring something to you and together we bring it to each other. Mel feels, “You can’t be blessed if you are not a blessing to others. I am truly blessed and I try to be a blessing to others when I can.” This super woman does so much in the way of giving back, she has an organization that she created and has been in effect for two years, and it’s called, “Give a Child an Ultimate Smile.” Every Black Friday from 12 noon to 8PM, if individuals bring an unwrapped toy for a boy or girl, from a baby to a teenager, you can receive half off of your services at the salon. It takes great preparation from everyone in the salon to make this a success. All her stylists come together and work for half off and they definitely put a smile on the children’s faces. From that time all the way to December 20th, individuals can make their donations at Ultimate Vision Hair Studios each year. The donated items are then given away. Last year they were donated to the Battered Woman’s Shelter in Bloomfield, Belleville and Newark. If we can put a smile on 20, 30, 40 kids faces then I’ve done my job. In September Mel plan to work again with the Battered Woman’s Shelter and are going to be styling their hair, give proper etiquette for jobs the do’s and don’ts. They will also take donations from clients from suits hardly worn to shoes never worn, mainly business attire, in this way they can build up their self confidence and prepare them for the working work. This is needed because these women have overcome being battered and being in a shelter, now they have to go out into the world which is unknown to them because
most of the women are housewives and do not know what it is like in the working world. An ultimate Vision Hair studio offers services for men they have a barber that’s been with them for eight years, it’s in a separate section. So they get all ages from one year old and up to adult. This was not in the original plan but came later to expand and make the shop more unisex. Here is where the full size man can come and receive that special look he is looking for. Mel feels very zealous about the full size woman, she exclaimed, “I’m pretty inside and out, we come in all shapes and sizes, some of your skinniest people are ugly on the outside, Beauty is within. If you’re confident you can bring it out. A size isn’t beautiful, it’s the whole package. Mel was not always a full size woman, she said, “I have had my insecurities with my weight over the years, I wasn’t always a full figured woman but if I find someone I encounter is insecure, I try to build them up because it’s very hard and we can be our worse critic. Once you lose confidence it’s very hard to regain it and I have been there and the best thing I can say is ether you accept me or you don’t.” Mel see’s only greatness in her future. She follows God’s direction and she takes it from there and if she could change anything what would it be in society. Mel’s answer, how people perceive you, because they judge you before they get to know you. They perceive us to be greed, lazy and that is not the case. Mel feels change is needed and Nfinite Form is the organization to do it because a lot of people need help.

There she supervised and managed the counseling staff. She also found the time to team up with The Food Pantry, to serve her community. Today, Lakisha’s organizations not only services the youth, she services the entire community. On April 23, 2011, she teamed up with Tomika Smith to have an event to help young girls who didn’t have funds to pay for a prom dress. This event was a truly wonderful success. Young girls came out from all over to select a prom dress for free that best suits them according to their body structure. Lakisha Smith believes that changes need to be made for the full size community. She believes that we should eat right and exercise daily in order to maintain a healthy life style. omika Williams was born in Washington, DC and raised in North Carolina. Ms. Williams is currently an active employee in law enforcement and has been for 15 years. She is currently completing her certification towards a Nurse Practitioner. Tomika participates in many different types of organizations which are all about giving back to the community. Night of Elegance, Tomika’s company, is also an event that she gives every year, where she travels across the country giving away free prom dresses to young girls. A few years ago, Tomika’s daughter was in need of a prom dress. During that time, the economy was in bad shape, people were facing hardships. Her daughter’s friends were facing the same issue. It was difficult for them to obtain money to purchase dresses for their proms. With her finances being tight, she had to find another way to help these young ladies. Tomika turned to Myspace, face book, bullet board and a Ebay, to find a dress for her daughter and her

friends. This led to Tomika beginning her company in 2008. As Tomika began to advertise for donations, she caught the eye of Ashley Taylor, who owns, “Once upon a Prom.” Ashley had seen her ad asking for donations and she quickly responded by saying, “Hey, I am not doing my prom dress event this year, would you like some of my dresses?” Ashley donated over 1000 dresses for Tomika ’S event. From then on, Ashley has donated over 300 dresses, shoes, and accessories each year. Tomika has also purchased dresses to add to her collection. Once it began, boy did the donations come in. So, Tomika decided to travel to other cities promoting her Night of Elegance prom dress giveaway. Going through that experience showed her that during prom season many girls and their families cannot find a nice prom dress. Once Tomika completed her educational goals, her vision was to build a health and wellness center for the youth. she plans is to finish her studies in Forensic Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and then open up a Health and Wellness Clinic service center. This health center will be for young people ranging from 5-18 years of age. The center will help these young people by providing instruction on nutrition education, weight management to fight obesity, physical examinations, immunization, and counseling to adolescents on dealing with everyday issues. For a few years now, she has devoted her time and efforts to develop healthy choices for children in the community. By working with children, she wants to assist them and remind them how it is a constant process. This reminder will show them how important their education is and that living a healthy lifestyle through physical fitness and proper nutrition is the best way. Tomika feels that society has finally learned to accept the full size woman and man. She feels that the clothing that they have for women delivers more style and class to them. She feels that the market has improved and it’s forcing the buyers to select a better look for the full size woman. Tomika will continue to travel and change the lives of young teenage girls. Tomika has joined Nfinite Form’s movement for attention, awareness and acceptance of the full size community. She is all about Nfinite Form’s Motto, “Giving Back, Giving Love, and being Real.”
