DCON 2017 Hello everyone! So I know that many of you already know, but if you don’t already, the DCON 2017 Promo Video is now out! DCON is Key Club’s annual convention where fellow Key Clubbers from different clubs, divisions, states, and even countries come together for one weekend to dive even deeper into the purpose of Key Club as well as have fun and meet new people! Reminder that you need at least 20+ hours of community service, attendance of at least 10+ meetings (2 meetings if you’re a running start student), and 2 DCM’s.

Seattle Area Rally In addition to DCM’s that our Ltg, Ashley Villanueva, hosts monthly we have rallies which are usually held in the summer! Rallies are where a couple of our divisions in the Seattle, Tacoma, Eastern Washington, Canada, and etc. gather individually together and have a chance to experience DCON but on a smaller scale. Here’s some of the videos and pictures that were captured at SAR (Seattle Area Rally) this year! Click the middle picture for a video made by one of our members, Leanna Delacruz!
Relay For Life Relay for Life is another annual event where our division’s clubs gather in an overnight walk to help end cancer! We stayed up playing Jenga, celebrated someone’s birthday at midnight, and most importantly, walked the track at KM in cause of cancer. Not only did we raise money for Cancer research, cancer treatment, helping cancer patients and cancer survivors, but we had fun doing it! Check below for another fun video made by Leanna Delacruz!
Community Service Hi hi! This is the page in the newsletter where you, the members, get to see yourself featured at past community service events! Don’t worry, most of the time I will post the group photo to ensure that everyone is included so be sure to stick around the end of the event to take the group picture with everyone!
President: Tera Chea Q. What’s your favorite thing about Key Club? A. My favorite thing about Key Club is how at home I feel. The thing with Key Club is everyone that’s in the club shares the same mindset when it comes to community service. With that kind of mindset, everyone’s always willing to help out someone in need which tends to make really nice and welcoming people. I’ve met so many amazing individuals through this club and the memories I’ve made are irreplaceable. Key Club is not just a club, it’s a family. Q. What is something that you would like people to know about you? A. I have a cat named Beyoncé and she’s fat and gray and very cute. On another note, I’ve been told I’m intimidating because I don’t naturally smile and I don’t talk first but if you really want to know the truth, I’m actually really shy and this one time I took a nap for six hours and then started crying over Sailor Moon. So please don’t be afraid to talk to me! I promise I don’t hate you, it’s just my face.
VP: Cayla Dreisbach Q. What’s your favorite thing about Key Club? A. My favorite thing would have to be seeing everyone coming together and helping out our community.
Q. What is something that you would like people to know about you? A. I’m a hardcore musician and I practice a LOT whether it’s listening to the piece or screaming into my saxophone while my finger bleed. So peaceful.
Secretary: RuthAnne Kepler
Q. What’s your favorite thing about Key Club? A. My favorite thing about Key Club is that you can get to know people that you never would’ve talked to which is really cool because I’m not very good at making friends on my own. Q. What is something that you would like people to know about you? A. I guess I want people to know that if I talk to you and I’m not very open it’s not because I don’t like you, it’s because I just have some trouble talking to people I don’t know.
Treasurer: Taryn Nourse Q. What’s your favorite thing about Key Club? A. My favorite thing about Key Club is how it connects people. You meet new people and create friendships that can change your life.
Q. What is something that you would like people to know about you? A. I’m really awkward when you first meet me but once I get comfortable I really enjoy getting to know you.
BE: Kaitlin Nguyen Q. What’s your favorite thing about Key Club? A. I love knowing that a bunch of diverse people are coming together for the greater good of their community and can bond on that idea while still making new friends.
Q. What is something that you would like people to know about you? A. At first, when I meet you, I may be slightly shy and introverted. But the more that I hang around you and get more comfortable, I eventually become really talkative and energetic. In my free-time, I’m usually on my phone so feel free to contact me by text or social media. I am almost always hungry and eat a lot more than I should. PS. I like kpop so if you like it, then we’re automatically friends.
EP: Bernadette Sheran Q. What’s your favorite thing about Key Club? A. Meeting new people and making new friends in new places, especially at DCON or DCM’s.
Q. What is something that you would like people to know about you? A. I’m a pretty good chef and baker #ChefBernieInTheKitchen

Even though my term is already halfway over, I will still try my hardest at everything this year! Don’t be afraid to approach me or one of the other officers if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to talk. I hope to see you guys at the future Key Club events and watch you grow as a person as my peers did for me when I had first joined Key Club! In love and service, Kaitlin Nguyen
