MIFGS ON TRACK FOR 2022

Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show on track for 2022 return

By Michael Warner, MIFGS Chairman and Marcus Gale, IMG Event Director

We’re back! After the disappointment of cancelling both our 2020 and 2021 Shows, the MIFGS decision makers can finally see some light and planning for our 2022 Show is now in full swing.

Lockdowns have decimated the events industry, but with the ‘vaccination passport’ now firmly on the agenda, the prospects for events in early 2022 have improved dramatically. We are confident the Victorian public will embrace and achieve the targets set, and that March 30 –April 3 will see crowds back in the Carlton Gardens admiring the talents of our industries.

We have a new and exciting layout, the Flower Hall will be housed in ‘super marquees’ and adorn the World Heritage Listed Central Boulevard, we can hardly wait to see this live, the renders look fantastic. We have 10 ‘Show Gardens’ confirmed, and they will be spread through strategic areas of the gardens. The LV run ‘Boutique Gardens’ will take their regular spot, along with the Designer Bubble. A new addition will be the Ryman Healthcare ‘Balcony Garden’ competition – a series of displays focussing on smaller spaces. Retail exhibits will again be strong, and bookings are now open for sale.

There will be something for everyone, but what we really need is you!

The NGIV has suffered with the past two event cancellations, and whilst lockdowns have been difficult for many, the general mood of the industry is positive. We need MIFGS 2022 to bounce back bigger and better than before, to re-enforce the health and wellbeing benefits of what we do, and remind the public of the importance our greenlife sector has played in living through 18 months of lockdowns.

We need growers to supply stock to gardens, garden centres could consider a balcony display or promoting their garden consult services, and allied businesses and specialty growers could book a retail site to promote their products to a highly engaged audience. A Growers Avenue could be considered, please make contact if you have interest.

Start planning now and book with confidence knowing that there’s a refund policy in place. We look forward to experiencing MIFGS together in March 2022.
