“ Geiranger is a small village comprised of a meager 250 inhabitants. However, the destination experiences an aston¬ishing 300 000 cruise ship passengers during peak summer seasons. With ships averaging 228.5 meter in length, an unequivocal scalar imbalance manifests itself. A consistent return of such mega-structures takes annually despite the lack of serviceable and supporting infrastructure within the village. “ Our concept develops from the most challenging question: how is the relationship between the existing small village and the new structure? how we can provide a collective platform not only for the tourists but also the local people? This new “SPRUNGTURM” is a multifunctional platform, which is the initial point to explore Geiranger and also suggest different eye levels to re-explore the beauty of the old village and also the massive cruise ships. In between space, there are green platforms - a vertical farm and sauna place.

Why we don’t have a new landmark structure for Geiranger? Why you don’t see your village in a rooftop cafe?
