Alvernia University

Alvernia named its new downtown Reading living and learning facility the John R. Post Center at Reading CollegeTowne, and its newly established engineering school, the John R. Post School of Engineering, recognizing the school’s largest philanthropic gift in its 63-year history, given by John R. and Maryanne Post. The university launched the CollegeTowne initiative in Reading in late 2019. Since its launch, Alvernia purchased the newly renamed John R. Post Center at Reading CollegeTowne, a 240,000-square-foot living and learning facility at 401 Penn Street in downtown Reading, and completed the first phase of a $20 million renovation and retrofitting project.

Everything Old is New Again

By Beth Daly, ROG Orthodontics

ROG Orthodontics, the leader in Berks County orthodontic care for more than sixty years, is making a move. After fifty years at their current 1268 Penn Avenue, Wyomissing, location, ROG will be moving into the former Santander Bank building at the intersection of Penn Avenue and Park Road.

The partner-owners, Drs. Natalie Parisi and Dennis Mauro, are thrilled to repurpose the bank building into the new flagship location of ROG Orthodontics. Unsurpassed patient care and orthodontic results are the driving force at ROG and the opportunity to renovate the bank to fit the current needs of the practice is the perfect move to ensure that ROG patients receive unparalleled care in an amazing, facility. The bonus of 46 parking spaces and the ability to serve ALL their patients in an ADA-compliant building was the strong motivation to making the move. Already immersed and involved in the local community, it was important to ROG to stay “close to home,” creating little inconvenience for ROG’s family of patients while keeping their established connection to the surrounding area.

Construction on the 840 Penn Avenue location has begun, and ROG looks forward to unveiling their new facility later this year. ROG will announce the grand opening of 840 Penn Avenue with great fanfare! In the meantime, they will continue to serve their patients at 1268 Penn Avenue as well as at their Douglassville and Pottstown facilities. Everything Old is New Again and we look forward to seeing the new kid on the block when the renovation is complete.
