letter from our lieutenant governor

Hello otters, It’s been a wild ride so far with only a month into the term hasn’t it? It’s also been pretty exciting too with the April DCM where Region 3 raised about $1050 to raise awareness for premature babies, and a very competitive May DCM with the annual Otter Olympics. I already seen so much potential and growth from the division, as I have started to get to know many of the wonderfully dedicated and passionate members and officers. Knowing how stressful it can be to balance school, a social life, and one’s own health is very relatable, and it makes me so proud and amazed to see that the members of Division 4 North find the time and energy to do just that. I hope to inspire all the members of not just Division 4 North or Key Club, to strive to be the best they can be, shoot for the stars. Without thinking that I can do anything I want, without anyone’s hurtful words or judgment getting in the way, I would not be where I am today. I just wanted to let all you know that you can! You can do anything as long as you try. I am overall so excited to be serving such caring and uplifting members, since I know you will all be the reason that this division flourishes. With otterly love, Christine Dang

EmilyasNgo Executive Assistant Hello helloo Otters!! I am so excited and ready for a great term full of spirit, lasting memories, and stress. My passion and love for Key Club grows stronger and stronger everyday and I truly love to serve and help others. I’m currently a sophomore at La Quinta High School where I also serve as my home club’s treasurer! I’m a super TROLL xD bee and love wholesome memes, napping, and Disney Cars!! KACHOW.

Tran Le as Executive Assistant

Hello! I am an awkward duckling who has the worst jokes ever but I am a super hard worker. Being in key club has changed my life in so many ways and I hope I can help change yours too. I look forward to going through this term with all of you as we continue our Key Club journey together. I also hope we can all reach greater heights together as Division 4 North to make this term one of the best.

Kathy Trinhas Secretary My name is Kathy Trinh, and I’m looking forward to meeting some incredible people in this upcoming term. A little about me is that I love dogs. Half of the year I’m playing volleyball and the other half i’m just running amuck. In my free time, I watch tv shows excessively, mainly comedies. I enjoy new experiences as much as the next person, and I would say I’m up for anything. 4

Isabella Nguyen as News Editor

Hello Division 4 North!! Coming into the DLT I hope to make new friends, along with improving my editing skills. As this is my first newsletter, it has been rather stressful, but the process has deemed itself worth it when I was able to see all the hard work come together. On a more personal level, I am a huge fan of Criminal Minds, I enjoy listening to DEAN, Khalid, CRUSH, Zion.T, Kendrick Lamar, and so on… Overall, I am a very open-minded person, and love a variety of things. If you ever see me, feel free to “chat me up”, we will probably get along, and find some common interests. :^))

CindyasLam Service Expo Coordinator Hello my beautiful fellow otters! I am so excited for what’s to come this year’s term and only hope that we all continue to spread love and lend a helping hand wherever our journey takes us. My overall goal is to teach you all that through service, you could make a huge impact that could change the lives of many. If you were curious xD I watch Korean Dramas, am in love with Selena Gomez, and a boba/ coffee addict. I hope to meet most of you at events and maybe that could be the start of a great friendship!

Paulian Le as Service Expo Coordinator

My name is Paulian Le and I am your new Service Expo Coordinator for the ‘17-’18 term. But, before I go on, here are some fun facts about myself. I currently attend Pacifica High School and participate in Girl Scouting. Thus, I can not wait to serve and meet each and everyone of you. We are all going to serve like no otter!

Cathy Nguyen as Member Recognition Hello my name is Cathy Nguyen and a few things you should know about me is that I am adventurous, ambitious, and outgoing. Much like any other human being, I too love to practice the act of napping and the act of consuming delectables One thing I can not do is ice skate, so until someone teaches me to so then I mostly likely would not be found at one ( unless I’m forced to). As for this term, I am excited to serve the division and to see what this term will bring. Anyways, I’d like to end with a good saying from my lovely teacher, which is “don’t be sorry be better.”

Ellen Bui as Member Relations Task Coordinator

Hi Otters! My goal is to interact with each and every member in our division this term. So, if I talk to you, expect me to be very talkative and humorous because I will try to get a smile from you! I am always open to any opinions that anyone may have, either to add their input on an event or DCM. Some of my hobbies are watching kdramas or netflix, listening to kpop or music in general, and singing.

Derek Leas Spirit Coordinator

Hello!!! I am Derek Le and I’m this 2017-2018 spirit captain. Currently I am attending La Quinta High School as a junior. I am really spirited when it comes to Key Club or even school events. What I like to do in my free time is to sing and dance. So when you see me around, ask me how I feel. PS LADIES!! I am in football! ;P

Kelly Tran as Spirit Task Coordinator

What’s poppin’ Division 4 North Otters! You’re probably wondering, who? Well, let me just say I am super duper stoked to be kicking off my last year in high school being your spirit task coordinator! Please don’t be hesitant to get to know me as I won’t be to get to know you! But HOLD UP WAIT A MIN, let me tell ya a lil about myself beforehand; I love blasting music in my car and singing along to it, I enjoy spending my free time making plans with my best friends and being spontaneous, and I also really enjoy making new friends so please feel free to yell my name and engage in a conversation with me - you won’t regret it!

Ysabella Dinh as Media Task Coordinator Hi I’m Izzy and I’ll be serving as your new Media Task Coordinator! I’m currently a junior at Rancho Alamitos who dedicates most of her time sleeping and loving goldfish. Aside from sleeping, my passion resides in playing the string bass for my school’s orchestra and most importantly Key Club. Key Club gave me an opportunity to open up from my shell and allow myself to become a little more extroverted. I never thought I’d ever have the opportunity to do many things Key Club has offered me over the past years.

Truman Nguyen as Kiwians Relation Task Coordinator

Hi! People call me Truboy because not a man yet. I am a three year key club member, and going to be a senior next year. My experience in key club has been very interesting and exciting. I have been to all the fall rally’s and dcon that we’re available. With the start of the new term, I wish to see division four north at fall rally, cheering their hearts out, and hopefully all the schools in the division at dcon!

Lindaas Communications Vo & Marketing

Hi Otters, Communications/marketing is something I’ve been interested in for a while and I have even considered it as a college major. I’m currently a junior at Garden Grove and I’ve always been really passionate about Key Club, its message, and what it strives to achieve, so I’m glad I can contribute to our division. Personally, I’m a reliable and hard working person who’s always down to offer help or support. Some things you should know about me are that I love dogs, makeup, and elephants. I’m very happy to serve on DLT and I hope to get to know everyone better as the term progresses, so please don’t shy away from conversation and I promise I’ll try not to either.

Hulbert Dang as PTP Fundraising Coordinator First off,I am a very meticulous person, always making sure that everything is in tip-top shape. As the PTP FUNdraising Coordinator, I want to accomplish my monetary goals as well as my personal goals for you, the members! I hope that I can build bonds with all of you members and build bridges between each and every club. Never forget that I am here for you! I’ll put my all into this position, but this position isn’t all of me.

Kenny Tran as MNT Fundraising Coordinator Hello, my name is Kenny Tran and I’m your MNT Fundraiser Task Coordinator. I hope to work with you all in the future. Because together we can embark a journey to make Division 4 North the very best.

Division 4 North

April Banquet

From 5-8 PM on April 21st, La Quinta Key Club and other amazing schools in our division gathered at Kiwanis Land to attend the Division 04 North Banquet, ”One Last Adventure”. It was a time to reflect back upon our term’s successes, enjoy good company and start the new term. Although it was a tiring Friday for me because I had to pick up the food for banquet and work throughout it, banquet was truly memorable because of the good vibes that everyone gave. Board officers received awards and recognized members received superlatives. The talent show also made banquet more enjoyable because of the various acts from members from LQKC and other schools. As the night came to an end, it was truly great to sit down and feel the comfort of the people I grew to love this term. It felt like the end of something great but also the begin of something new. Here is a farewell to the past amazing term and a hello to an new, exuberant term!

- Emily Ngo, LQHS

On April 21, 2017, Rancho Alamitos Key Club enjoyed a nostalgic but memorable Division Banquet at KiwanisLand. The purpose of the Division Banquet was to commemorate the past service filled term and say goodbye to old officers. When I first arrived at banquet, I gathered with my club members to socialize and talk. Since the setting was very pretty, my club went around taking aesthetic photos before dinner. Following our meal, we migrated to a stage area where the talent show and awards ceremony commenced. Many talented individuals chose to dance and made everyone have a great time watching. Before the talent show was the award ceremony and closing speech from our IP Lieutenant Governor, Katelynn Lam. Awards were given out to outstanding clubs and individuals who have made a difference in Key Club. This year, I am proud to say I received the medal for being a distinguished Vice President in my division. Other officers in my club also received recognition for all their hard work and dedication during the term. Witnessing all these awards being given out made me feel pride in my club and their abilities. After the awards, our Lieutenant Governor gave her closing speech about all the events that our division had gone through together in the past year. We all reminisced as her words touched all of us, igniting pride and a sense of accomplishment in me. Even though it was a sad goodbye, the banquet also marked the opening into the new term. Even though it had its sad moments, it also had its joyous ones. Iwas glad that our division could come together and share these memories in one last adventure.
