Chapter 1: The Adventure Begins Once upon a time, there was a girl named Lisa. She didn’t have any problems. Until one day, it was time to go to school. She didn’t want to go to school. Her father asked, “Why won’t you go to school?” Lisa said, “Not unless you promise me that I’m not going to have any problems!” I can’t promise you that,” Father said. “Then I won’t go!” Lisa whined.

4

But that didn’t work for Lisa. She was at school, when suddenly she was handed an invitation to an ice skating party! Here’s the problem: Lisa doesn’t know how to ice skate! When the bell rang, she ran home as fast as she could. When she got home, she heard her sister Stella say to their father, “She’ll never be able to ice skate!”

5

Lisa’s Dad knew about the ice skating dilemma, from an e-vite. “What do I do?” asked Lisa. “Learn to ice skate,” said her father. “Nooooooo!!!” screamed Lisa. She ran to her room. She wasn’t an ice skater!

6

But the next day on the weekend, she didn’t have any choice but to learn how to ice skate.

Chapter 2: The Surprise That Saturday, Lisa was on the ice skating rink, learning to ice skate.

8

Just as Lisa said to her coach, “I love ice skating, Lisa fell!

9

“I won’t give up! I can’t give up!” Lisa sang. Soon she was gliding and twirling.

When the party came, Lisa sang to herself, “I won’t give up! I can’t give up!” Lisa had fun ice skating at the party with her friends. 10

Epilogue 20 years later, Lisa became a famous figure skater.

During her training, she always would sing, “I won’t give up! I can’t give up!” 11

Author’s Note About the Story This story was inspired by the situation when I had a birthday party to go to. It was an ice skating party! And I didn’t know how to ice skate. So I took lessons, and learned. But I still don’t like to ice skate! This story was also inspired by my remote learning assignment.
