Studio Project Park View Community Centre
In my final year in Manchester School of Architecture, I have chosen an atelier which focuses on endurance and longevity as its approach to architecture. Design for disassembly forms the core of our design projects. As as atelier we explore Oxford Road, Manchester as urban territory and are to resolve its problem based on personal findings. Personally, the issue with Oxford Road has been the disconnection of the University of Manchester and the local community. The proposed scheme intends to the Arts & Cultural of the city to strengthen the locals by creating a continuous link of cultural hubs along Oxford Road - The Corridor’s Art Trail. Break the physical boundary between the university and the community Open up s site and form new circulation route for people to experience the Art Trail Involvement of the locals New public park and centre where people interact and socialise. A building designed to be programmatically flexible to adopt different activities for different occasions To design with sustainable measures in mind To design considerably so building is structurally capable for disassembly

Transformability The main feature of the building is its ability to adapt. As diagrammed below, the main hall has the ability to assume different functions for different occasions. Interior space connecting to outdoor landscapes. Performers or any potential users can make use of interior and outdoor spaces as part of the performance, where they will be able to better connect with the audience and natural elements, offering a different kind of experience for spectators. Extended Stage If required, the performance can be taken outdoor and using the outdoor landscape as part of the play, making it a very deep and large performance stage. Both Sides Opened The hall turns into almost a 360 degree stage, creating a unique space for the performers where they have to be very well planned when choosing which audience to face during performance. Amphitheatre During summer times or when weather conditon is good, the main hall ca turn into an amphitheatre taking the performance semi-outdoor Conventional Internal and exterior sliding doors are closed forming a closed space for private events, exihibitions or other functions.

Studio Project Pop-up Theatre
This project explores light and heavy weight construction methods where the design of the theatre comprised of the mixture of the two. All walls and load bearing elements will be pre-cast units and cantilever structural arms will suspend the roof on top of the auditorium. The theatre is based within the woodlands of Wythenshawe Park, Manchester and can hold a capacity of up to 100 people for every performance held. The circular shape of the building provides good circulation space for both spectators and performers which has been the main focus of the design to have a quick in and out action throughout the building.

Skills Model Making Throughout the 3 years in Manchester School of Architecture, building physical models in a wide range of scales have helped to explore design ideas and building structural systems in both studio projects and technology courses. These have provided me with the knowledge + skills in operating CAD/CAM softwares + machines (including laser cutter and basic 3D Printer knowledge) and also the practical skills working in a wood workshop.
