Project
The goal of this project was to create a “human-scale” space from a given column design.
Constraints were the process itself, where students were required to model a real-life column in Rhino 3D software, generate height and width considerations, and create a renewed column design.
Solution
Enric Miralles designed this column as a metal tree like structure in the center of a vast metro area. He had in mind the connection of people to nature. It shows an effort to keep nature at human’s core even within the most dense built environment. This original “treelike” design informed the decisions of this project, ultimately leading to a column with the appreciation for exterior space and natural environments.
