“THE NEW LESS DEVELOPED BATMAN” Batman’s been doing particularly well at it so far, but things will definitely change when the assassins come to town. Beating up mob bosses is one thing, but taking on the likes of Bane or Anarky or Deathstroke will require Batman to up his game substantially. The panel also revealed that a villain would put Batman through another psychedelic sequence like we saw from Scarecrow and the Mad Hatter in the previous two games.

ARKHAM ORIGINS The team behind the next Batman Arkham game played to a packed house at this year’s Comic Con. And while the presence of developers from Warner Bros. Montreal studio was enough to get us interested, the inclusion of DC superstar Geoff Johns and the game’s two best known voice actors, Troy Baker and Roger Craig Smith, no doubt contributed to the massive turnout. The session opened with the same information we’ve heard in previous demos. It’s Christmas time in Gotham City and the Black Mask has put out a $50 million hit on a brand-new vigilante known as Batman. Batman’s been terrorizing the mob for nearly two years now, showing the Falcones and Maronis of Gotham that they’re not untouchable. Eight assassins have decided to take up Black Mask’s offer and they’ll each be taking a shot at Batman over Christmas Eve. As a prequel to the previous games, Arkham Origins presents an earlier version of Batman than we’re used to playing. Rather than nerfing the Caped Crusader to make him seem less effective in combat or with his detective skills, the developers are relying on story and character to provide that additional context of a less developed Dark Knight. The tension of seeing Jim Gordon chase down Batman as the head of the vigilante task force, for instance, is just one expression of this new perspective.

The AMC hit follows a (shrinking) band of
survivors trying to build some kind of a life
after the world that they know has been taken
over by zombies. Characters are routinely
killed off and last season, in addition to the
walkers, our heroes had to face off against
the tyrannical Governor of the seemingly harmonious town of Woodbury.
Well the show’s producers think things may
have gotten a bit too easy for our heroes and
they’re planning to make life much tougher in
season 4 which debuts October 13th.
