Air Austral, the “French Airline of the Indian Ocean”, has more than 30 years experience linking the French overseas island of Réunion with its neighboring countries, Mayotte, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, South Africa and France.

An island of true contrasts, the French department of Reunion is little known to many travellers. This unique island in the western Indian Ocean is simply one of the most intriguing places on earth.

Air Austral currently operates twice weekly from Sydney to Réunion Island with convenient connections to its Indian Ocean neighbours as well as the French cities of Paris, Lyon. Marseille, and Toulouse. A full service carrier offering passengers personalised and welcoming French-style hospitality, in Business - Premium Economy and Economy class cabins. The Aircraft fleet includes Boeing 777- 200 and 300 series (long haul), as well as Boeing 737’s and ATR 72’s (short haul).

Not as well-known as it’s neighbour, Mauritius or the not-so-far-away Seychelles, little Reunion seems but a speck in the vast ocean, dwarfed by Madagascar, some 800 kilometres to the west.

1

With one of the Worlds most active volcanoes, as well as 27 kilometres of warm, welcoming beaches, coupled with mountains and forests, Reunion Island offers vacation opportunities ranging from relaxing to truly exciting. If you’re looking for a place to “chill out”, you’ll find it here. But if you’re the kind of holiday maker who prefers an adrenaline rush over lying in the sun, the possibilities are endless. From hiking Reunion’s unique “Cirques” or canyoning the island’s many waterfalls, to scuba diving or surfing in the clear waters that surround this 40 Kilometre wide island, adventure activities abound for holiday makers hoping to experience something a little adventurous on this Island of contrasts.
