Design for a new robot Goal:
To design a new kind of robot. The main function of this robot is to help people. The students had to develop their ideas, sketching them and then use plasticine to model it.

Design for a new kitchen This was the task: “Ikea wants you to design a new kitchen space. How would you design a new kitchen for IKEA? Think about the needs of the users who would use it.

s Fir
This was the task: Think about a user and a need related to health: analyse in a deep way, present through sketching feasible design ideas, create the solution (with an aesthetic model), outline the success of the solution against the design specification.

CRIT A: Inquiring and Analyzing
PROJECT_01 User: blend people Needs: walk without making accidents, best knowledge of what around you (Different hurdles and obstructions) Factors: used material, easy to carry, light, make it smaller for eventual occasions so to occupy less space and not to be awkward and bulky. Need to be seen in the dark.
Inquiring and analysing What already exists: (analysing the market)
Evaluation: ADVANTAGES: these objects are innovative. they seem easy to carry around and you can even fold them into smaller pieces; DISADVANTAGES: however you could have accidents on crossings, you cannot see the traffic signals. Not easy to move the stick around without the need to lift it every second. Results of my research: Having analyzed what already exists, my factors, the needs and having made some researches think my walking stick at the top should have a sensor that “sees” what’s ahead your body and what you have to do, (for example) in case of a crossing and/or traffic signals it tells you to stop or to go ahead.( basically it works like a navigator). The stick doesn’t speak out loud; earphones are connected to it. If it would speak out loud it could be awkward or strange. However the sensor is not switched on the whole day every day; you decide when turning on or off the machine just pressing a single button. Since there’s already a way to fold it I developed a way even more efficient. Simply, pressing on the top of it, it goes down (something like the handle of the trolley.)I also noticed that all the sticks that already exist have nothing on the bottom. I would like to put a little wheel on the bottom so to make movement easier. I want to make it flexible, so if you ever collide or crush with something it does not brake. I also thought about eventual walks in the night; people cannot see the blind person, so to make the other people see the person I decided to add a fluo textile. And finally obviously my stick will need a whole for the charger and another one for the earphones.

Conclusion: Observing my tables I can tell that my product has both things to improve and things that are okay. I think that the best table is the one that has “specifications”, “grade” and “how it is met”; because it really tells me what my product needs to have, what I already have and if it has been done well or not, and what I can eventually improve. Finally I can say (I hope) that my product has been done in a good way. I believe that anyway it couldn’t be perfect, because there is always something that you could improve.
PROJECT_02 1. Think about a user and a need related to health: analyse in a deep way. USER: the user is an alpinist. NEED: if you are in danger this object will help you. Many alpinists die because there are many dangerson the mountains, this object will help them to call quickly for help.

2. What are the factors that you should consider in order to create a solution to the need and to associeted problem that you found? Analyse them in a deep way. FACTORS THAT I SHOULD CONSIDER IN ORDER TO CREATE THE SOLUTION:
- the object has to be small (like this you can put it everywhere/no cumbersome), - the object has to be easy to use (if you are in danger and you are nervous it doesn’t have to be complicated/if you are not good in technologic you can use it anyway)

Outline the impact of the solution on the target user. The problem of the alpinists of being in danger without something to call for help quickly has been solved with this new product. This product calls quickly but someone it’s really in danger the assistance will spend a couple of minutes to arrive at the alpinist. This problem is quiet difficult to solve but as the ambulance can see where the person is it will reach it in tima or ask to someone nearer.
