generative design techniques

CONCEPT Generative design is a design method in which the output – image, sound, architectural models, animation – is generated by a set of rules or an Algorithm, normally by using a computer program. Most generative design is based on parametric modeling. It is a fast method of exploring design possibilities that is used in various design fields such as Art, Architecture, Communication Design, and Product Design. Some generative schemes use genetic algorithms to create variations. Some use just random numbers. Generative design has been inspired by natural design processes, whereby designs are developed as genetic variations through mutation and crossovers.

TECHNOLOGY Gravity towards New Directions

CONCEPT In 2100 the population in TLV will be intense. Vertical construction impose a new way of life. The technology offers us the opportunity to build gravity in different directions. RESEARCH

CONCEPT

PROGRAM

The introduction of the digital media and its ability to create complex forms places new questions about the formal lenguage of the architecture. Computer use allows us to design and produce structures that are based on irregularshaped geometry. What motivates us in the architectural design process? Maybe we can plan a project that starts thinking through the form?

Implementation of digital tools for the development of an architectural language in order to locate the form in the center of the design thinking. The goal: create a formal language that will dictate the development of a specific architectural project: a series of pavilions in urban and local contexts.

CAPACITY is an urban network of Pavilions which offers a share workspace that stimulates professional interaction - an alternative for freelancers who are looking for a getaway that open them a variety of possibilities to realize their CAPACITY as future professionals.

PROGRAM develpment of a design concept to a solar tower shell

CONCEPT Our proposal for the cladding of the solar tower in Ashelim seeks to examine the relation between the tower and its environment. We ask to challenge this dimension and its visibility through a cladding system of mirror panels that will move and will reflect the environment in several ways.Thought the adjustment of the mirrors, several modes of

development of a design concept for a sculpture that will be built in the entrance of the city Yeruham (south Israel)

CONCEPT Since ancient times, has been Yeruham a unique landmark in the Negev desert. The question that guided us in the design process was: "Why exactly there?" . The town was constructed in the Negev desert that extends (within Israel) an area of 13,000 square kilometers. Our conclusion was that the location was carefully chosen.

CONSTRUCTION 3D SCHEME

YERUHAM 30.34

The word that we believe caused the town is "meeting". Multiple encounters were created throughout history and continue to be created, strengthened its specific position. A meeting is a phenomenon in which two or more elements come together at a certain point forming one whole and then separate carrying the added value received. Yeruham of today is the product of these meetings.

PROGRAM Courthouse design competition Jerusalem, Israel

CONCEPT "Order that does not interfere with freedom", said the composer Johann Sebastian Bach . Justice system , similar to Bach's statement , aims to give citizens an harmonious balance and a sense of freedom - within the law. Is it possible to express this philosophy in an architecture court?

▼ BEHIND THE WALL: urban context plan

▲ BEHIND THE WALL: typical floor plan

We chose an architectural solution based on the creation of a visible roof that looks deducted from a public square and fold in a dynamic and continuous way, while he organizes beneath the three parts of the courthouse : Magistrate Court , Juvenile Court , Family and Transport and Work Court Services. Any court keeps its unique architectural vision creating a new visual icon in the Jerusalem landscape.

CONCEPT: The new tower fot the Ichilov Medical Center restores the collaborative vision of the "Dormitories Workers" by breaking the structural mass of the tower into a series of smaller sub-structures. The morphological organization allows the creation of a variety of meeting spaces for residentials, children's play areas, fitness activities places and landscape balconies. The tower is made up of a unique structures with heterogeneous characterization. Each sub-structure has a different size and different color. This creates a unique sense of belonging among residents and also creates an iconic and uniquae tower in the landscape of Tel Aviv.

SMART HOUSE The apartment's design is made out of creating a symbiotic relationship between outdoor spaces and indoor spaces: each apartment is designed with a terrace which is actually a "confined space" between the facade and the interior. This innovative design lets stay on the porch climate protected from sunlight and winds.

CONSTRUCT The tower design is based on the existing core - that has been designed in order to establish the pillars of the tower and the existing parking lot.

CIRCULATION The circulation planing has been done thinking about the different users tower residents, employees of the medical center that use the parking and users of the daycare. We use the two existing cores (which include elevators and stairs): the one located in the central nucleus of the parking lot and the core located on the north side of the parking lot. Next to the southern entrance of the parking lot, we create a new elevator core for the residents and users of the daycare. The new core will take the users directly to the parking roof level to povide a direct passage to the tower lobby and the daycare center.
