The History In July 4, 1885, Addie Orne first opened the doors of Orne’s Candy Store in downtown Boothbay Harbor on the coast of Maine. In 1960, Wollcott Webster purchased the store, with the promise that he would preserve the atmosphere of an oldfashioned 19th century candy shop. In 1978, John and Jean Webster assumed operation of the store. They operated the store with Arthur Webster and Faith Foster. Today, John and Jean are still at the helm, along with Areth and Adam Foster-Webster, Arthur and Faith’s sons. The store still looks very much the way it did in 1885.
Currently Orne’s Candy store is rich in history and tradition. Prior to housing the candy store, the building was actually a shed where fishermen housed their dories, hence the boat logo. Orne’s has progressed over the years to becoming a more modern candy store while maintaining an old fashioned candy store feel. They have loyal customers, instagram followers, and Boothbay Harbor tourists eager to support their store. The branding of Orne’s needs to reflect that it is an authentic, professional and reliable business.
