The theme of my project is Natural Organic Structure. I decided to do living Architectures which is my I decided to research living plants. Some of the features of organic architecture are openconcept spaces that flow freely, references to nature in the use of colours, patterns, and textures, and the feeling of being sheltered from the elements. There should be a balance between peace and decoration in a space to allow for reflection and uncluttered space.

• Using the flower petals of the sunflower I sketched a pavilion idea that I might use in mu project. I used the buds of the flower as a ceiling on the pavilion.

• I notice that the plant has a more layering pattern and I try to interpret it into my development by making it have a more circular appearance

• The different between the size and people ratio is too large so I decided to treat as more of an idea sketch

• Experimenti ng with circular shapes

I used objects I found around my house that I could use to sketch my models. After sketches I added some small details after each picture, I took to experiment with my pavilion ideas

• Using the objects, I'm sketching different ways I can structure my idea and be able to input them into my design.

The Heydar Aliyev Center is a 57,500 m² building complex in Baku, Azerbaijan designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid and noted for its distinctive architecture and flowing, curved style that eschews sharp angles. The Heydar Aliyev Center represents a fluid form which emerges by the folding of the landscape's natural topography and by the wrapping of individual functions of the Center

• The centre is famous for its fluid form, which the architects conceived as a reaction to the rigid architecture of the Soviet era, as well as a reference to Islamic calligraphy and elements of traditional Azerbaijani architecture.

INTERIOR DESIGN

• Using the previous building design, I want to create a model that was influenced from the centres have more of a fluid form.

• I experimented with angular shapes to see if I could incorporate it into my future developments.

DURING MY HALF TERM I SIGNED UP TO AN ARCHITECTURAL WORKSHOP WHERE WE WERE PAIRED INTO TEAMS OF 6 AND WERE GIVING A DESIGN BRIEF TO MAKE A TWOSTORY MINIMALISTIC STUDIO.

Final Colourways

• I chose this poster as my final design as the layout and composition was more asymmetrically organized on a constructed grid than the other two pieces. The asymmetry gives greater emphasis to the minimal aesthetic. I also enjoyed the contrast between the two colours ( cyan, brown and white) as it stood out to me more and drew my eyes towards the designs instantaneously.

BRIEF

• The RIBA is the client (Royal Institute of British Architects). They've asked me to design a book cover to promote the transition in building designs in the UK and Berlin, with a focus on renaissance and modern structures. This show will only be on display for a short time. They have also asked me to design a flyer for an exhibitionrelated event. They've asked for their logo to appear on both the book covers and the poster.

• During my first outcome, I noticed that the circle in my design did not have any meaning to my piece and was very distracting to eyes in my design. Exploring this I decided to redo my design so that it can relate to both my artist analysis.

BOOK COVER DEVELOPMENT Nicole Amusa-Eke UCAS ID: 1646042801

• I tried to expand my idea of the circles towards my next design where I would cut out bits of my other photography and turn them in circles for this design.

• During this time, I experimented with colour theory as well as tried to repeat previous photographs which I found gives an illusionary effect to the eyes. I also experimented with Lynette Jackson's ideas an tried to place shapes within photo itself to see if it would brighten up the book cover and be able to attract a reader's attention towards it.

• In the middle of my design, I noticed that the picture in the middle seemed a bit plain so i tried to duplicate it to have a glitch effect which I think works well with the design.

BOOK COVER FINAL DEVELOPMENT Nicole Amusa-Eke UCAS ID: 1646042801

• For the poster design I chose to experiment with Lynette Jackson ideas. I used shapes and primary photos in an attempt to make something like a collage and with a variety of colours. I have chosen to Centre more on the shapes design rather than the building as i think it puts more focus on the building itself due to the highlight of the bold colours in contrast to the grey areas, especially if I'd like to end up using this as an advertising piece for the RIBA; I think that it is important that the design itself emphasises the beauty of architecture.

• Next time I would like to explore my options a little more and focus more on the aesthetic quality of y brief as I have noticed it is a bit harsh on the eyes. Because i have pushed my developments a little far, I ended up creating a perfectly fine final design in my experiments which made me push myself more creatively in the actual exam. Overall, I think I have explored well in this examination as I have explored a lot of strategies and proven development, especially in going from my example composition to the final layout to the actual very last layout I finished up doing.
