Dear Hiring Manager, I am applying for the publishing internship position for the fall semester of 2017 at Future House Publishing. After reviewing the internship description requirements, I believe that I have the skills, experience, and desire to succeed and thrive in this position. I will graduate from Brigham Young University with a degree in English as well as a minor in editing in April 2018. I feel that this internship will both strengthen my skills in editing and align with the career goals I have for my future after graduation. The BYU editing minor requirements have helped me learn and understand the rules behind my natural intuition for editing. In August 2017, I will have completed all but one of the required courses for the editing minor, so I am confident that I am qualified for this internship position. I have excellent editing and proofreading skills, and those skills have been even further strengthened by my participation in acquisitions editing for Leading Edge, BYU's science fiction and fantasy magazine. I have provided developmental edits for upwards of a dozen submissions, and have worked alongside an editing team to provide substantive and copy edits for a short story that is to be published in the most recent issue of Leading Edge. I am currently an intern at Cedar Fort Publishing and Media. I have copyedited a young adult fantasy novel at Cedar Fort and used Adobe InDesign to typeset a novel as well. I will complete my internship at Cedar Fort in August and hope to build upon the experiences I have had there in a publishing internship and career. My experiences with the editing minor and with acquisitions editing for Leading Edge paired with my desire to work in publishing and more widely provide quality literature for those who love to read as much as I do make me a good fit for this company. I am detail-oriented, focused, and entirely committed to being a valuable asset to a company I believe in and can see myself continuing to work with in the future. I look forward to hearing from you and can be reached via email at nicoletbyu@gmail.com or phone at (832) 257-5493. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely,
Nicole Terry Enclosure
