SPRING 2015
Executive Director’s Letter Dear Bourbonnais Township Park District Residents:
As we say goodbye to summer, we get ready to say hello to the m Parkost exciting time of the
Welcome to spring! I’m always excited for spring to make its appearance after enduring the long, dark, and often dreary days of winter. Each day brings a little more sunshine. Our parks shed their winter coats as plants start popping out of the hard brown ground and the grass slowly starts turning green. Our spring brochure has many new and exciting programs and special events for the family. Dates you will want to mark your calendar for include The Easter Egg Extravaganza and Breakfast with Bunny on March 28th; the ever popular Dog Day Afternoon on May 17th; and the Perry-Durham Farmstead Open House on May 9th. Early summer brings two newer but outstanding events for families – Art in the Park on June 6th and Family Fun Night on June 13th. What a great kick off to summer that will be! Hollice Clark III Executive Director Please check out our special needs page. The park district is excited that we are able to offer these programs and special events geared to these families. The special needs Easter Egg Hunt will be in its third year and has proven to be very well attended! May finds us celebrating our volunteers of the park district. They really are the unsung heroes of our community! We look forward to our annual volunteer recognition event every year. This is the time we also designate our volunteer of the year! We could not do all the special events without the 200+ volunteers that willingly give us the gift of their time. They truly are the heartbeat of our park district. This year we are celebrating the 25th birthday of the Exploration Station! Throughout the year we will be celebrating this milestone with different special events. But on July 28th we will have a big day planned for the community to help celebrate the actual birthday. Stay tuned for details of this exciting event. Take some time to browse our spring brochure and take advantage of the many programs and special events that we have to offer. Or better yet come and take a walk on our trails or visit our playgrounds with the young people in your life. If you have questions concerning programs, or any general park district questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at Hollice@btpd.org or call me at 815-939-9905.
