Letter From The Editor When we decided to start this magazine, people said we were crazy. "Magazines are dead," everyone said, and we agree. The old standard of magazine publishing is dead because today's woman is smart, savvy and can read between the lines. They know when the advice given is masked as editorial content but really comes from a key advertiser. They know when a story has been recycled and regurgitated 50 times in 50 different ways. Newsstands are filled with magazines that are designed to line the pockets of the suits and investors, who are mostly men. When online media companies and blogs

began to pop up women flocked to this "new media" with fervor and excitement and let's face it, we all get a good bit of news, fashion tips and other lifestyle material from online resources. However, in the last few years the volume of online media content has become completely overwhelming and we felt it was time to get back to basics in a totally modern, fresh and future seeking way. So, we created Nicole Magazine to give women something to read cover-to-cover with real, engaging fresh content. Think of us as the curators of the huge wealth of information out there. We promise to

give you something you have yet to discover in each issue. We promise never to sell out to advertisers. We promise to always care about what's new, fresh, affordable, but also what's worth the "splurge." Most of all, we promise to create a magazine you actually want to read cover to cover... and the best part is we distribute it for FREE in Blo blowdry bars, salons, spas and boutiques where you actually have the time to read it cover to cover! Our Spring issue is packed with beauty, fashion insight, and viral suggestions.

Vancouver Vancouver has become one of Canada’s gem cities over the years with its mild weather, beautiful nature, proximity to Whistler and skiing and culinary prowess. We ventured to the fair city to find out what there is to do for urbanites in search of a city slickers overview of the fair city.

When to Go They say summer is the loveliest time to explore the actual city, but we recommend going in Spring or Fall during Vancouver Fashion Week. The week long fashion affair hosts a daily evening schedule of back-toback runway shows in one venue complete with free liquor tastings, amazing people watching and designers from all over the world. www.vanfashionweek.com

What to Do If you decide to go during Vancouver Fashion week, you will have the day to explore the city and there is lots to do!

Fly Over Canada The ultimate 4-d ride experience that is 15 minutes of thrilling fun. You enter into a large room with an i-max movie style screen and are strapped into a chair and your experience begins as you take flight over the entire country feeling wind in your hair and movement in your chair! www.flyovercanada.com

Where to Stay Pan Pacific Hotel It is a bit of a splurge, but the breathtaking views, perfect location and gorgeously appointed rooms make it completely worth it. Rooms start at around $325 depending on when you go.

Where to Eat Vancouver has so many food options it was hard to choose, but we found a few spots that left us wanting more.

Granville Island Ferries leave from Canada Place right next to the Pan Pacific andwhisk you away to Granville Island, a quaint little part of Vancouver with an old fashioned feel complete with art galleries, a delectable food market and home to the Sandbar restaurant, where we had one of our best meals. Ask for a seat upstairs in their outdoor dining area with gorgeous views and a beautiful fireplace. www.vancouverdine.com/sandbar

Ha Long Bay For delicious Vietnamese food in the heart of Chinatown, this is our pick for delicious Pho and traditional fair at extremely reasonable prices. 430 W Pender Street Vancouver, BC V6B 1T1

Cactus Club CafĂŠ One of the few restaurants open in Vancouver after 9 pm, this sceney chain born and bread in Vancouver has a great atmosphere, delicious food and an extensive menu. Our favorite was the Canada Place location with gorgeous views of the harbor. 1085 Canada Place
