PATTERN Using A and 4.5mm needles, cast on 102 (115:128) sts Work 14 rows in garter stitch. Next row (RS): Using A, K11 then slip these sts onto a stitch holder for right hand side of border, join B and K to last 11 sts then slip these sts onto second stitch holder for left hand side of border. Continue working on the central 80 (93:106) sts as follows:
Note: You should be able to fit all the stitches on a long straight needle but may find it easier to work back and forth on a 60cm / 24in circular needle.
Adding repeats: You can easily adapt the pattern to be as large as you like by adding extra repeats of the 8 row stripe pattern but you will need more yarn. Purchase all your yarn in one batch to keep the dye lots consistent.

Leave the central sts on a spare 4.5mm needle or scrap yarn and continue as follows:
Border Slip left-hand border sts back to your working needle, rejoin A and work in garter stitch until strip, when slightly stretched, reaches the top of the main panel. Slip these stitches back onto the holder, break yarn leaving a tail for weaving in, and complete right-hand border in the same way, but do not break yarn and continue in garter stitch across main panel stitches and left-hand border. Work 14 rows in garter stitch. Cast off loosely. Making up and finishing Pin side borders in place and join seams. Weave in ends and block to measurements.
