YARN: The Fibre Company Canopy Worsted (50% Alpaca, 30% Merino + 20% Viscose from Bamboo 200 yards/50gm skein). fern, 1 skein. GAUGE: 20 sts and 28 rnds = 4” on larger needles. NEEDLES: 1 - 16” US 5 (3.75 mm) circs + 1 - 16” US 7 (4.5 mm) circs and set dpns. SIZE: 10.25” diameter, 9“ height, 24” circ at widest point. NOTIONS: Stitch marker, tapestry needle. NECESSARY SKILLS: Knitting and purling in the round on circulars and dpn, reading lace from charts.

LACE CHART:

PATTERN NOTES: The hat is knit from the top down. You will begin on dpns, switching to a 16 inch circ once the circumference of the hat is too large to fit onto dpns. DIRECTIONS: Using dpns, CO 6 sts. Join for working in the rnd, being careful not to twist sts. PM indicating beg of rnd. Rnd 1: *K1f+b, pm; rep from * around - 12 sts. Rnd 2: Knit all sts. BODY: Work Rnds 1-49 of Lace Chart - 96 sts after working rnd 49. BRIM: Rnd 1: K7, k2tog, *k14, k2tog; rep from * until 7 sts rem, k7 - 90 sts. Change to smaller ndls. Work in K1, p1 rib until ribbing meas 1.5”. BO loosely in patt or finish with a sewn bind off. FINISHING: Weave in ends. Soak in wool-wash, pin to measurements and allow to dry.
