this is the kitchen. it's really big and we have lots of space. our washer dryer is out of sight immediately behind me where i took the picture. we went food shopping on tuesday and on wednesday made the first real meal (aka not a lean cuisine) since i've been here - pork, apple, & potato saute. it was awesome! i think joe just really liked that i made it extra cheesy.
this is our living room! the couch is big and comfy. until we find a kitchen table (i'm pushing joe to go look this weekend) we are sitting on the floor and eating on the coffee table. not great, but it's not so bad. i'm pretty confident we'll find something and be able to eat like civilized people soon. joe is in no rush because he's a boy and would eat off the sidewalk if he had to, but i'd like a table.
here's the bathroom - kind of small, but it's just fine for us. joe installed that sink before i got there so i could have a place to put my blowdryer and other girly things, as the old sink had no under sink storage. the window in the shower is really nice. out of sight is a double towel rack where we hang our towels. the medicine chest opens and has lots of space for medicines, toothpaste, mouthwash, joe's razor, and band aids, etc. when you walk out of the bathroom there are two closets on either side - a coat closet and a town closet. we've managed to fill both!
here is the master bedroom. joe's closet is out of sight to the right in this picture, and to the left is his dresser, above which hangs a pretty big flat screen tv. there is no private bathroom for this room but it is pretty big!
this is the other bedroom, set up pretty much exactly like my rooms at school have been for the past three years. one night when joe was out on a service call to one of the properties i hooked up the cable all by myself which i was pretty proud of. my closet is out of sight and to the left. some kind of miracle but i've fit all my clothes and shoes in there. There is a third bedroom but it’s empty right now.
here's the front of the house ...
and the back ... (with all my moving boxes. garbage day is monday!)
some pictures of the neighborhood
our big backyard!
how cool is this tree? it sits on our property line to the right when you walk out the front door. but i guess technically the tree is joe's, because his family owns and rents the house next door.
and now for some fun stuff! joe has a house that is rented out in a town called snead's ferry, where people like to go for seafood and fishing trips. we took a ride out there the other day because the house needs some serious work after the last tenants, and joe wanted to go and help out the guys who work for his grandmother, who are currently under his supervision. the picture above is a shot i took when we went to lunch out there after going to the house of the river that runs through snead's ferry. it was so pretty and the weather was perfect!
joe pointed out lots of properties and land in snead's ferry that were owned or are owned by his family. to emphasize just how much of an impact his family has had on the development of the town, there is a street named for joe's family, the fulcher's. on fulcher's landing road is the fulcher family cemetery (which is HUGE) and fulcher's campground, a popular campground for fisherman, to name a few.
