My name is Nicoletta and you're reading HOME MEETS DESIGN Magazine (thank you!),

Issue 02

This is ISSUE02 and while I'm still a "magazine dummie", here comes Christmas. OMG. I freaked out 'cos that means "extreme do-it-yourself!" It's that time of the year. The world splits in two: the Grinch ones and the Santa's Little Helpers. If you're reading an home decor magazine, you're probably the Santa one! Great, because I'm here to instigate your festive DIY instinct and your deepest romantic feelings!

Have a good reading and a Happy Holiday Season, Nicoletta homemeetsdesign.tumblr.com

DĂŠcor

inspiration WHITE BEDROOM A white bedroom is like a white canvas. You can fill it with colors or you can add just a few elements and you'll be sure that those elements will pop out, because white is also the perfect background, no matter what. White pairs well with both contrast and graduality and it matches with its opposite: black. Opposites attract.

" it's like a white

canvas "

White color has always had beautiful meanings: innocence, holiness, relax, peace. An all white bedroom can easily turn into the perfect place to rest. Nowadays white's also associated to "minimalism" (togheter with black), because it indicates the absence of color itself. Tips and tricks: an outstanding color is a great way to avoid monotony who might turn a relaxing place into "boring". A plant, for example, can be the perfect solution. (see next page)

Christmas

There is no doubt: Christmas really is the best time of the year. As we get to reunite friends and family, we want to celebrate with them and create the perfect atmosphere. Those of you who read my blog already know that this year I fell in love with the "Moments" catalogue from the Danish brand "House Doctor". Not only because of their products, but for the entire scenario they created and the atmosphere they gave to it. I really wanted to share some of those photos with you, for it is a perfect example of organic, minimal and warm dĂŠcor. Decorating with organics elements is really simple and unexpensive. To get those pine branches (photo on the left) you can take a walk to the nearest park or, if the tree doesn't grow in your country, a florist will definately sell them. Small wooden logs are really romantic too, but if you want to get even more crafty, try a simple plywood christmas tree DIY (photo on top). The festive table doesn't need a baroque dĂŠcor, here you can see how just a tiny branch on the table and one on a plate already give a special touch, plus, of course, some candles and some ball ornaments give the final touch (photo on the left). The pine branch on the table can also be used as a place card by just adding a little white piece of paper rolled as a scroll with the guest name written on. My mom is a very cunning and crafty woman: every year she go picking up some branches when she comes back from work and she manages to create a garland for our frontdoor...but when she doesn't find what she wants, she uses some rosemary branches instead, because it grows in our garden during all the year. I can garantee you that it almost looks like pine branches, but of course it is more suitable outdoor than indoor, because of its characteristic scent. Well, I hope you found some good suggestions! Keep reading to find out more and have a Merry Christmas!
