Active Ealing

Active Ealing work to encourage participation in sport and promote healthy, active lifestyles across the London borough of Ealing. The team aim to provide and continually improve sports and leisure opportunities available to people in Ealing. Activity programmes are specifically targeted at hard-to-reach groups, improving access and increasing participation, particularly among teenagers, older adults, young women, people with disabilities and adults with specific health needs. Active Ealing also has responsibility for operating the Council’s sport and leisure facilities, managing 8 facilities directly and another three through a leisure management partnership with GLL. The Team is also responsible for developing new sport and leisure facilities with other partners and upgrading existing facilities.

www.ealing.gov.uk

The Brentford FC Football in the Community Programme, established in 1987, was amongst the pioneering programmes aimed at engaging football clubs with their communities. 25 years on and the Trust, 4 times winners of the Football League Community Club of the Year award, is now employing in excess of 24 full time staff, over 50 part time coaches and a team of volunteers whilst reaching over 27,000 participants per year. Our portfolio offers 178 projects across four key areas - sports participation, health, education and social inclusion.

www.brentfordfccst.com

The Trust is now one of the leading providers of sport, education and career opportunities in West London. It really is about more than just football we are about participation, inclusion and engagement - offering a programme of activities that educate, motivate, involve and inspire.

BOCCIA

Introduction Boccia is a Paralympic sport for athletes with disabilities. It is a target ball sport belonging to the same family as petanque and bowls.

Boccia is very versatile and can be played in a school hall, community hall or a sports hall. Both able bodied and disabled players can play alongside each other. This game, usually played in teams, relies on the skill and subtlety of the player rather than size, speed and strength. Boccia balls are propelled (rolled, thrown or kicked) towards a jack ball.
