CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF INNOVATION!

SPRING 2008 May 2008. Nida-Core Corp. is expanding its machined and converted core materials offerings. NidaCore Balsalite and NidaFoam continuous sloped chemical tank bottoms kits are not new to us. We have been manufacturing them for over 5 years. However, our changeover to produce these with abrasive wire CNC controlled saw in the USA, has greatly reduced the waste factor, cost and time it takes to build these customer specified kits; often less than a week turnaround. Compared to industry standard of 8-12 weeks, Nida-Core Corp. enables our customers to cope better with the ever changing market conditions and remain competitive. NidaCore Balsalite 12’diameter 1”- 4” continuous sloped chemical tank bottom kitshown.

NidaFoam PET and PU products are available now in the form of fillet strips, hat-sections, round bars and other complex machined shapes. Ideal compliment to NidaCore H8PP Structural Honeycomb products, fillet strips serve as a perfect transition around the perimeter of the cored section. NidaFoam PET can be also heatformed to shape. NidaFoam densities available for fillet strips and other forms are PU (2-46 lbs/ft³ ) and PET [100 kg/M³ (6 lbs/ ft³ ) or 150 kg/m³ (9 lbs/ft³ )]. Fillet strips come in 48” length and are sold by the box.

NidaFoam PU and PET CNC machined Bead and Cove System enables cold molded parts, prototypes and one-off parts to be completed fast and efficiently. Available in variety of densities in planks up to 8’(244 cm) long, and varying thicknesses and plank widths, NidaFoam Bead and Cove System offers an economical alternative to the task of building low volume parts. Combine that with NidaBond compounds and polyester, vinylester and isopthalic based adhesives, NidaFoam Pet and PU slab and sheet stock and NidaBond plug machining compounds, Nord Composites RM 2000 and RM 3000 tooling resins, Nida-Core Corp. offers one stop shopping for all the plug and mold building customers.

Our Distributor

Jeff Bootz Technical Director Nida-Core Corp.

June 2008. Nida-Core Corp. Names Scott Bader Scandinavia AB distributor for Nida-Core Corp. products for Sweden and Norway. Special thanks go out to Agne Bengtsson for his efforts in promoting NidaCore products. Scott Bader started life in 1921 as an agent for a Swiss celluloid manufacturer. Today it produces polyester and alkyd resins, gelcoats and conventional and inverse water based polymers from five manufacturing sites across the world. As they have grown, they have taken the fundamental values of participation through employee engagement and social and environmental care into every country where they operate. Scott Bader operates manufacturing and distribution centers around the world on every continent: Scott Bader was founded by Ernest Bader in 1921. The company was family owned and conventionally managed for 30 years, but Ernest was never comfortable with a capitalist governance structure. For many years he and his family sought a 'third way' of distributing the capital of the company in a less divisive manner and a method by which all employees could have a 'real' say in the company. They believed that labor should employ capital acknowledging the equality of everyone as individuals and that only a restructure of the way industry was managed would bring this about. In 1951 a radical decision was made and The Scott Bader Commonwealth was created. This changed the fundamental structure of the company and shared out responsibility for its long term future to its employees.

Sabre Yachts has been crafting sail and motor yachts for 38 years and has built over 2,500 hulls to date. Sabre currently builds three sailboat models from 38 to 45 feet in length under the Sabre name; and six powerboat models from 36 to 47 feet in length using the Sabre name. Sabre sail and motor yachts are sold worldwide, through a network of competent, professional dealers who are chosen for their reputation, location, and visibility within a local market and for the quality of their sales and after sales service. Sabre's manufacturing facilities are located in Raymond, Maine, approximately 25 miles north of Portland, and a little over two hours from Boston. In the 83,750 square foot facility in Raymond, 175 Associates assemble all sail and powerboat models. In 1994, Sabre acquired North End Marine of Rockland, Maine, at the time, a major builder of marine molds and production fiberglass parts. The company's name was changed to North End Composites in 1996 and today this shop is used for the production of fiberglass hulls and decks for Sabre's larger sail and powerboat models. The Sabre story began in 1970, when the company's founder, Roger Hewson, set out to build the finest possible 28-foot sailing yacht using production line methods and fiberglass technology. In a small, 4,000 square foot building, with a handful of employees and a vast amount of market research which he had done on the marine industry, he designed and built the first Sabre 28, and introduced it to the market at the 1971 Newport Boat Show in Newport, RI. The boat was a success, and over the next fifteen years, 588 Sabre 28's were built. Many sailboat models followed in the 35 years since the launch of the first Sabre 28 and a complete listing is available in the FAQ section of this web site. Today's sailboat range includes the award winning Jim Taylor/Sabre Design Team collaborations, the Sabre 386 and the Sabre 426. The Sabre 386 recently won Cruising World Magazines Boat of the Year Award for Mid - sized Performance Cruiser and as Overall Domestic Boat of the Year. The Sabre range is a development of the style and comfort of the traditional "Downeast style" yacht blended with the performance of a contemporary motoryacht. Typical cruising speeds, with average weight conditions and sea state, are in the 20 knot range and top speeds, with average load conditions are between 25 and 30 knots depending on the model. Higher cruise and top end speeds are available on some models. At low engine speeds, the Sabre range is very fuel efficient and at speeds of 8-10 knots, where typical trawler yachts operate, low speed gunkholing is a pleasure. Newest member of the Sabre family: Sabre 52 motoryacht used Nida Core H8PP extensively throughout its modern and efficient construction.

But when conditions or time call for higher speeds, the performance of the Sabre deep -vee hulls truly comes into it's own. In rough sea conditions, the spray rails and chines of Sabre hulls keep the deck and windshield dry. This diversity of product styles makes the Sabre range one of the most flexible and versatile ranges in the boating industry today. The production of every Sabre yacht is monitored by an extensive and thorough Quality Assurance program. Each boat has a "Boat Parent" who is an office staff Associate and who follows the boat through the production process, acting as the "eyes" of the consumer. All purchased parts and sub-assemblies are checked as they enter production and each boat is given a 600-point inspection during six separate stages of the building process. As the yacht nears completion, a 12 page report is prepared by Sabre's Head Inspector, along with a full technical inspection of all mechanical and electrical systems. And as a final check, a Gold Inspection is performed by the Boat Parent. This inspection is unstructured and is meant to judge the overall quality, feel and appearance of the boat. Once the yacht arrives at the dealership, a detailed Commissioning check list is completed by the dealer, and a detailed report sent back to Sabre Yachts. This check point ensures us that all systems were functioning to Sabre's satisfaction and standard when the yacht was delivered into service. As clients and dealers report issues back to Sabre's After Sales Service staff, no matter how large or small the issue may be, a Customer Quality Report (CQR) is developed and circulated to all members of Management and Engineering, as well as to all Production Associates affected by the report.
