Table Talk Reminiscing about the past is a great way to have some lighthearted fun while celebrating all of the milestones you have accomplished. Talking about the good ‘ole days can bring up a whole lot of laughter, a little bit of embarrassment, and possibly a dash of pride when you remember how well you pulled off those bell bottoms. Whether you’re sharing awkward family photos, stories about navigating your first real job, or revisiting long lost pop culture references, talking about your “growing up” years can be a great way to connect as a couple. While we want you to celebrate the memories you have made over the years, we also want to encourage you to live in the present. It can be easy to linger on a wrong decision made in the past or think of “what if” scenarios in your head. While, yes, we should learn from the mistakes we have made, we do not want you to dwell on these things! Remember that no matter what we do or say, the past is in the past. Reflecting on a mistake is one thing; however, if we let something negative from the past constantly live in our minds, it can create unnecessary stress and anxiety in our lives that could overflow into our relationship. Make a promise to each other to live in the moment and focus your thoughts on your current circumstances. Focus on the things you can change and use your past reflections as you make new decisions in the present. One of the most exciting things about ‘living in the present’ is planning for the future. The future can be hopeful and making plans or setting goals together is a great way to bring you closer as a couple. As we move through our lifetime there is one thing that is constant, and that is change. We can always expect change. Whether it is with our children, interests, finances, relationships, goals/dreams, or any other aspect in our life, we can count on change. We want to encourage you to embrace the everchanging future together, while relying on the love you have for each other to stay constant.

Which decade do you wish you could travel to? Why?

What’s the biggest question you have about the future?

never change?

Cheers to celebrating the past, living in the moment, and embracing the future in gratitude for all the days of our lives.

Macramé Friendship Bracelets It was the crafty craze of the 70s -- macramé! You and your partner are going to create macramé friendship bracelets. A friendship bracelet is a bracelet, usually handmade, that is intended for a special person. They represent everlasting friendship. Friendship bracelets made their debut in the U.S. in, that’s right, the 1970s! Let’s get started. Grab your string and buttons and head to datenightinbox.com/so70s to see instructions on how to make them! Feel free to modify the instructions to create a friendship anklet instead! If jewelry isn’t your thing, other options include a keychain, car charm, etc.

Snacks and Trivia Whether it brings back nostalgia or this is your first time getting a taste of the 70s, enjoy your totally rad candy while challenging each other to a Candy Trivia. Grab your Candy Trivia sheet and see who gets the most correct answers. Spice it up by setting an incentive for the winner (5 minute back massage, clean up kitchen, etc.).

That’s Just 70s Talk Now that we’ve had a taste of the 70s with some retro candy, it’s time to play a game of That’s Just 70s Talk. Get ready to have some fun while going through words that will take you back to the 70s! THE CARDS Each card has 2 words on it, 1 on each side. The words could be anything from names, items, movies, songs, or even phrases. The answers are on the bottom of the opposite side of the card. THE OBJECTIVE The goal of the game is to see who can figure out the most amount of words in a set period of time. You and your partner will take turns being the guesser and the holder. INSTRUCTIONS To start, choose who will be the one guessing first and who will hold the cards. Use your phone or any timer to start the clock. The holder will set the clock for 20 seconds and hold up the first card. When holding up the card, be sure to cover the bottom so no cheating happens! The guesser will have 20 seconds to see how many words they can get correct. Once they guess the word correctly, flip the card over and have them guess the word on the back side before moving on to the next card. The guesser does have the option to skip 2 TIMES per round if they want to skip a word. So, be sure to use your skips wisely! Take turns going back and forth for as many rounds as you would like or until you go through all the cards. Be sure to keep tally to see who gets the most words!

Truth Dance Karaoke We want to end this Date Night In with some groovy fun! Nothing takes you back in time like the classic game of Truth or Dare. We have put a spin on the original game by adding in karaoke - and of course we had to replace dare with dance to give you and your partner a chance to show off your best 70s moves! Take a moment to blow up your included microphone for inspiration during karaoke. Next, find your Truth, Dance or Karaoke scratch-off board and a coin to help you scratch off. Play Rock, Paper, Scissors to determine who goes first. Then, take turns playing and reminiscing about the good ‘ole days!
