PLAY IT COOL Before you begin your date, locate the sealed cards labeled Partner 1 and Partner 2. Do not let your partner see your card for the rest of the evening! On each card are 3 phrases, the first of which each partner will begin with, attempting to use it casually throughout the date. If your partner suspects you are using your phrase, he or she should call “Phrase!” and if correct, you will move on to the next phrase on your card. If you use your phrase without your partner catching it, make a tally without your partner noticing (or keep a mental tally). Continue using the same phrase as many times as possible until your partner correctly guesses it. Whoever has the most tally marks on his or her phrase card by the end of the date WINS.

BLACKJACK We hope you’re feeling lucky for this next game! Did you know that the game of blackjack has been around for hundreds of years? While historians debate the exact origins, they believe the game originated in French casinos in the early 1700s. HERE’S HOW TO PLAY: The goal of blackjack is to have a hand total 21 points or get as close as possible. Alternate turns being the dealer. Before each round, the dealer will shuffle the cards well and allow the other player to cut the deck. Whether or not you choose to include betting in your game is up to you! If you decide to place bets, all bets must be registered before the cards are dealt. Then, the dealer gives one card face up to each player. The dealer gives an additional face up card to the other player and takes a second card for his or herself face down. Kings, queens and jacks are 10 points, aces can either be 1 or 11 (up to the player) and all other cards are face value. The player who is not dealing can then choose from the options below: Stand: the player will not receive another card and will play using the two cards they already have. Hit: the player will receive another card from the dealer in an attempt to get closer to 21. A player can receive as many cards as he or she wants, one at a time, until he or she reaches 21. Bust: the player’s cards exceed 21 points. The dealer collects the bet.
Once the player has completed his or her hand, it is the dealer’s turn. When the dealer reveals the face down card, he or she must hit until the cards total 17 points. Once the dealer’s cards total 17 points or higher, the dealer must stay. Then, the dealer’s cards are compared with the other player; the better hand is the hand where the sum of the card values is closer to 21 without exceeding 21. OUTCOMES:
•
If the player is dealt an ace and a ten-value card (called a

DICE POKER It simply would not be a Vegas date without some version of poker! Locate your included dice and poker chips and follow the instructions below for playing. ROLL RANKINGS:

HOW TO PLAY Each player will keep two dice, and the remaining three are community dice. Alternate turns rolling the community dice. At the same time, both players will roll their two dice and then place a bet based on their roll.
•
For example, if a player rolls two 6s, he or she might want to place a high value bet because he or she started off with a good roll.
One player rolls the remaining three dice, which are then used to complete BOTH of your rolls or “hands.
•
For example, if a player rolled two 6s and then one of the community dice was a 6, he or she would have three of a kind. Unlike in poker with cards, there are no straights and no flush.
Aces (1s) are high, then 6s, 5s, etc. The player who has the highest-ranking roll wins the round and receives the poker chips that were bet that round. Continue playing until one player has all the money, or set a time limit and see who has the most money when the time is up!
CARD CONTEST Before you put your cards away, divide the deck between the two of you. Then, set a 2-minute timer using your phone or a stopwatch and see who can create the largest card pyramid before the time runs out. After that, work together to create one using the whole deck of cards. Snap a photo or video on Facebook or Instagram and use #DateNightInBox for a chance to win a $100 Amazon gift card.
Contest details: One lucky couple will win a $100 Amazon gift card! Submissions must be posted on a public Facebook or Instagram profile. Join us on Facebook (@Date Night In) or Instagram (@datenightinbox) for more contest details.
