White paper Watercolor paint palette with paintbrush Cup of water Napkin
Allow plenty of time for it to dry! For your art project, you will need time for the background to dry before completing it. Prepare your painting space (we suggest painting over a craft mat, another sheet of paper or paper towels), get a cup of water and have a napkin handy! To create the background, use the BLUE paint from the paint palette. Make sure to use a fair amount of water with the paint to give it the watercolor effect. Use your included paintbrush to cover your entire sheet of white paper with the blue paint and set it aside to dry. We will come back to finish your artwork later!

It’s time to put your brain to the test to see how much you know about recycling! Find your recycle sheet in your Kids Night In Box and study the recycling facts. Practice your literacy skills by reading the facts aloud OR practice your listening skills by listening carefully as they are read to you! Once you feel that you’re a recycling expert, flip the sheet over and use your included stickers to complete the activity. Go through each row and place a sticker on the picture of the item that CANNOT be recycled or reused. The answers are upside down at the bottom of this page so you can check your responses once you finish. Good luck!

It’s time to make a bubble-blowing machine. When you upcycle something, you reuse materials in a way that makes them better than before. For this activity, you will reuse a cardboard tube and a mesh bag to create something FUN!

Cardboard craft tube Mesh material Craft tape Bubbles Bowl
Steps Step 1
Get a bowl from your home and pour some of the included bubbles into it.
Step 2
Find your included mesh bag and slide it onto one end of your cardboard craft tube. Then, use the craft tape to make it stay in place; we suggest taping the corners down at the top so that the mesh material lays flat.
Step 3
(Optional): Decorate your bubble blower with paint, stickers or more craft tape.
Step 4
Dip the end of the craft tube with the mesh material into the bubbles and blow into the end of the craft tube that does not have the mesh! You can use the strings on the sides of the mesh bag as handles if you would like.
Bubble Games Here are a few fun games you can play using your upcycled bubble blower! Feel free to use the included bubble wand if that works better for you.
Popping Bubbles:
Blow bubbles and time yourself to see how many you can pop in 15 seconds! The catch? No hands allowed! Pop the bubbles using your head, elbows, feet…anything but your hands! If there is more than one person playing, race to see who can pop the most.
Floating Bubbles:
Blow bubbles and choose one bubble and try to keep it floating in the air. A good way to keep the bubble in the air is by gently blowing underneath it to make it go upward. See how long you can keep it from touching the ground or popping. If there is more than one person playing, have each person pick a bubble and see who can keep theirs in the air the longest (the key to this game is to not blow TOO hard or you might pop the bubble with your breath)!
Racing Bubbles:
This game is a lot like “Floating Bubbles,” except now you are trying to keep the bubble afloat while moving it to your finish line. Pick a start and finish line before you begin, then blow a few bubbles. Choose one bubble and try to blow it all the way to the finish line. If you are playing alone, time yourself to see how long it takes you. If you are playing with someone else, make it a race to see who can finish first!
Catching Bubbles:
Blow bubbles and try to see how many you can “catch” on your bubble blower. The trick is getting them to land without letting them pop! If more than one person is playing, take turns to see who can catch the most.
Make flowers by reusing a sheet of a newspaper and paper straws!
Items Needed:
Check to see if your background paper is dry so you can complete your artwork! Visit this link to watch an instructional step-by-step video on how to create your artwork kidsnightinbox.com/art.
