NUTRITION EXPLORERS KIDS NIGHT IN BOX

Dear adults, Welcome to your Faith Family Fun discussion guide! Thank you for letting us join in as you encourage your little one(s) to experience the love of Jesus. Our hope is to offer an interactive and enjoyable way for your little one(s) to connect with the Gospel’s beautiful message.

now lives in you and in me. The Bible also says “Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31). One way we can take care of our temple (our body) is by eating and drinking what is healthy for us—by being Nutrition Explorers! Nutrition Explorers: How do we take care of our temple?

Taking care of our bodies isn’t just good for ourselves. We can teach our children that taking care of our bodies allows us to do more for the Lord’s kingdom. During your discussion with your little one(s) today, our prayer for each child is that they see their Heavenly Father’s love as He invites them to be a temple of the Holy Spirit.

MY BODY IS A TEMPLE SONG

MEMORY VERSE

My body is a temple.

1 Corinthians 6:19 “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you.”

Sing along to the tune of the nursery rhyme “Tiny Tim”!

A house for the King. The Holy Spirit lives in me and so I will sing.

Words to remember: “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit”

Give thanks to the Father.

MY BODY IS A TEMPLE?

Give thanks to the Son.

Today’s memory verse tells us that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Wait a minute—what does that mean?! Paul wrote this verse to teach his friends something very important. They were having a hard time understanding why it was so important to take good care of themselves. He used the example of a temple to teach them that Jesus cares about how they take care of their bodies. Nutrition Explorers: Why do you think Jesus cares about how we take care of our bodies? Take a look back at your memory verse!

A BEAUTIFUL PLACE Long before Jesus was born, people would visit a place called the temple to meet with God. This is where the Holy Spirit lived on earth. Some people even walked for days to visit the temple because it was very far from where they lived. The temple was a very grand and beautiful place covered in gold, statues and beautiful fabrics. It took 20 whole years to build! God’s children took very good care of it because they wanted to honor Him.

Give thanks to the Lord above for all that He has done. Yes, my body is a temple. A house for the King. The Holy Spirit lives in me and so I will sing.

LET’S PRAY TOGETHER Will you say your memory verse with me one more time? 1 Corinthians 6:19 says, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you.” Let’s pray together to thank Jesus for living in our hearts. “ Dear

Jesus ,

Thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to be with me always. Help me to remember to take care of my body because it is a temple for the Lord!

Nutrition Explorers: Can you imagine what it was like to visit the temple? What is the biggest place you remember visiting?

WE ARE GOD’S TEMPLE When God sent Jesus, He gave His children the most beautiful gift! God made a way for each and every person to talk to Him without visiting the temple. He told His children (you and me) that we are the temple! Can you believe it?! He loves us so much that He would rather live in our hearts than in the temple. That’s why the Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:19 that our “body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.” Just like how God’s people took good care of the temple because the Holy Spirit lived there, God wants us to take good care of our bodies because the Holy Spirit

Amen .”

CARRY THE CONVERSATION FORWARD: •

Continue to recite the above prayer with your little one(s) this month.

“Encourage your little one(s) to recite their memory verse (1 Corinthians 6:19) or the words to remember this month.” Extra points if they can recite the whole thing!

As you witness your little one(s) making choices to feed their bodies well, don’t miss an opportunity to praise and encourage them by acknowledging their good choices.
