GALAXY STRAWBERRIES Prep time: 7-10 minutes Total time: 12-15 minutes

Ingredients

HINT

• 2 cups of whole strawberries • 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream • 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar • Food coloring (I recommend using blue and red)

Place your homemade whipping cream in separate bowls to create different color combinations.

Directions It’s time to paint the galaxy! In a medium bowl, using a hand mixer or standing mixer, have your child help make the homemade whipping cream. Mix the whipping cream and sugar for two to four minutes until stiff peaks form. Using a spatula, place whipped cream in a baking dish, spreading it evenly. Have your child add a few drops of each color of food coloring throughout the pan. Using the same spatula, gently swoosh the whipped cream a couple of times to mix the colors. Do not over mix because the colors will completely combine. I’d encourage you to talk to your children about the whipped cream and how combining colors can create a brand new color. Have your child dip the strawberries in the whipped cream and enjoy!

HOT ROCKETS Prep time: 10 minutes Total time: 20-25 minutes

Ingredients • 2 hot dogs (vegetarian option: veggie dogs) • Tube of crescent rolls • 2-3 slices of pickles • 4 cheddar cheese slices • Mustard • Ketchup

Directions Alright stargazers, in order to get to space, we need to build our rocket. Are you ready for liftoff? Please have your child help preheat the oven to 375 degrees and have him/her wrap each hot dog with one triangular piece of crescent roll, covering the entire hot dog. Place in the oven to cook for 7-10 minutes, or until golden brown. If you’d like to use the rest of the crescent roll dough, use a cup to trace a circle to make a moon and a knife or cookie cutters to shape clouds and stars. I recommend baking these pieces for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown. While the rockets are baking, have your child make more shapes out of cheddar cheese and if your child is old enough, have them help cut the pickle to resemble the fins of the rocket. Don’t forget to cut small strips to resemble fire from the rocket too! When the rockets are ready, grab a big plate and place your rockets on top. Place the fins and fire at the bottom and fill the sky with mustard and ketchup stars, clouds and a moon. The yummiest space food in all the galaxy!
