FA14/T-04 Guided Tour The special Noh performance is coming to ACT Theater in Seattle for only 3 days! The premium performance ‘The Beauty of Noh’ will, for the first time, present a double-bill performance featuring Noh, the traditional dance-drama of Japan, alongside a modern Nohinspired opera based on the same story. The traditional Noh play ‘Tomoe’ will be performed by Munenori Takeda, one of Japan’s most talented Noh masters, and the Takeda Noh Troupe. The Fisher Ensemble and Munenori Takeda will then perform ‘YOSHINAKA’, a modern opera based on the story of ‘Tomoe’ written by Seattle-based composer Garrett Fisher. After the performance, you will have an opportunity to meet with the artist. The group will enjoy lunch on your own before matinée show in downtown Seattle (Restaurant is TBD) English supertitles provided at the ACT Theatre performances. Warm up on a crisp autumn day with simple Japanese soup and delicious rice dish. Let’s enjoy autumn’s bumper crop of vegetables with intense flavors and a variety of textures. LUNG CANCER 101: ABOUT THE DISEASE, SCREENING AND WHO IS AT RISK
In this hour-long seminar, Allison Moroni of American Lung Association will introduce the basics of lung cancer: what it is, the risk factors, current statistics on who is getting the disease, and how to treat it. The presentation will also focus on early detection and reducing your risk. Participants will be provided with up-to-date facts, information to help determine their risk, and the suite of resources available to help patients and their families cope with lung cancer. Please note that the talk is introductory. We will not delve deeply into the very complex medical details of lung cancer or the many stages of diagnosis or tumor development. Participants are encouraged to speak with a medical professional for any questions about their personal lung health or individual risk.

AARP SMART DRIVER COURSE
AARP Smart Driver is the nation’s first and largest driver safety course designed specifically for drivers age 50+ and is intended to help drivers live more independently as they age and to ensure that they remain safe on today’s roads. This course covers defensive driving techniques and the normal changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time associated with aging, and also provides practical techniques for adjusting to these changes to ensure the driver’s own safety and that of others on the road. During the course, participants learn about current rules of the road and how to operate their vehicles more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. Although the course is geared toward drivers 50+, it can be taken by licensed drivers of all ages, and there are no tests. Course participants may be eligible to receive a state-mandated, multi-year discount on their auto insurance premiums. Nikkei Horizons Investment Club (NHIC) brings individual investors together to learn about buying, holding and selling stocks and other investments. The Club’s mission is to provide a program of sound investment information, education and support while making it fun at the same time. Participants are all novices learning in a hands-on manner – active participation is expected. NHIC is one of thousands of clubs throughout the U.S. with membership in the National Association of Investors Corporation (NAIC). NAIC dues ($30) are collected on a yearly basis and Club investment contributions ($75) are collected each quarter (Jan, Apr, Jul & Oct). The Club meets the first Wednesday of each month. IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGISTRATION: On-line registration for summer quarter will begin on August 18, 2014 and paper registration for summer quarter will begin on August 25, 2014. Registration will NOT be accepted prior to this date. Summer quarter starts the week of September 15, 2014 with the exception of some tours or classes. PAYMENT: Payment by check, credit card and cash is accepted. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card and American Express. MEMBERSHIP FEE: $30 annual membership fee (non-refundable) is valid from September 2014 through August 2015. PARKING: For classes at the Seattle Buddhist Church (SBC), students may use the church parking lot on the corner of 16th Ave. S. and S. Main St. For classes at Nikkei Manor, parking is limited. For classes at Bellevue Children’s Academy, parking is available on site. Please carpool or use public transportation whenever possible. Nikkei Concerns is not responsible for any loss or damage for parked vehicles and/or contents at any location. TOURS: Most tours depart from the SBC parking lot (SBC/PL) on the corner of 16th Ave. S. & S. Main St. Return time is always approximate. Only those with confirmed reservations will receive a reminder telephone call from Nikkei Horizons staff prior to the tour date. CLASSES: Classes are scheduled for 8 weeks, unless otherwise specified. CANCELLATION: Nikkei Horizons reserves the right to cancel a class, workshop or tour if it does not meet minimum participation requirements. In general, for a class or workshop, the minimum number of participants is four to five students. For tours, the minimum varies.

In the event of a cancellation, a refund or a credit will be provided. Full tuition credit will be granted for classes, if you withdraw before the start of the second class. For workshops and local tours, you must withdraw 10 days before the date of the workshop, in order to receive full tuition credit. A credit will not be granted after the second class, except in the case of a medical emergency. In such cases, a copy of a doctor’s order is required. Credits are valid until they are used up to take other classes. Refund checks take 2~3 weeks to process. Annual membership will not be refunded or credited in any case. WAIVER: All participants must sign a Nikkei Concerns Waiver on the registration form each quarter before attending any class, workshop or tour. IMPORTANT NOTES: Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
