Please read and observe the following:
• Excessive dirty vehicles will not be allowed entry, therefore ensure vehicle is clean before arrival.
• All vehicles transporting livestock will be subject to a documentation check before entry to market site.
• All visitors and traders must ensure they wear clean clothing and footwear before entering market site.
• All visitors and traders using car park areas please use main entrance.
• All persons delivering livestock to mart must park on the hardcore area at the back of the site and then proceed along the designated route to the biosecurity control next to the supervisors office.
• Hauliers and farmers delivering livestock must disinfect their boots before and after loading or unloading.
• Livestock purchased or unsold will not be allowed to move unless an authorised “pass slip” has been issued by the main office.
• No livestock will be allowed to remain on the premises after a sale.
• Only staff, livestock hauliers, owners or their agents are permitted to load or unload livestock.
• Wash hands thoroughly when leaving livestock pennage areas.

The Texel Sheep Society provides enhanced data collection and performance reporting services to its membership and supports the National Terminal Sire Evaluation.
texelplus indexes have been updated, making them simpler to use and understand.
The texelplus economic indexes support the breed’s development with an increased focus on commercial traits and profitability. The TERMI NAL and REPLACEMENT I NDEXES reflect the breed’s influence on industry. Both are presented as the potential extra profit per lamb born in a commercial setting, compared to the population average.
Expected change in profit per replacement lamb born
The TERMI NAL I NDEX supports increased profitability through improving prime lambs and is weighted strongly for meat production. The REPLACEMENT I NDEX includes additional maternal traits to optimise production of female replacements.
Commercial producers solely producing prime lambs should use the TERMI NAL I NDEX to inform their selection; however, those retaining female replacements should use the REPLACEMENT I NDEX.
Sub-indexes underpin the indexes to provide more information on the relative values of growth, carcass quality, reproduction, and adult size.

General Information & Sale Notes
LOCATION - The Sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle Cumbria. Motorists should leave the M6 at Junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. The Market is on the left hand side of the road within 1/4 mile of M6.
VIEWING - The Sale Sheep will be available for viewing at Borderway Mart, Carlisle from 8am on sale day or prior viewing of the sheep is most welcome by appointment with the vendors (see page 9).
CONDITIONS OF SALE - Sold under the conditions of sale as recommended by The Livestock Auctioneers’ Association.
METHOD OF SALE - All sheep will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order, unless any alteration is announced by the Auctioneers.
COMMISSIONS - The Auctioneers will dutifully execute commissions to purchase for buyers unable to attend the sale personally, upon receipt of written instructions.
SETTLEMENT AND CLEARANCE OF STOCK - Settlement in full is due immediately at the close of Sale. No animal may leave the Sale Premises without an official ‘Pass Slip’, obtainable only from the Auctioneers upon settlement.

We feel these are a great team to bring up to Carlisle for our 1st time. Some very exciting individual’s within them. All the gimmer’s will be In lamb to our exciting purchase Wedderburn Highlander purchased for 12,000gns Lanark 2024.
Claybury Texels was established back in 1991 with the purchase of 2 in lamb ewes with the primary aim to produce top quality commercial rams to sell at the local club sales and privately. We never dreamt that back in 2002 we would break the ram lamb record where we sold Claybury Istabraq for 88,000gns and more latterly the ewe lamb record at 8,500gns. Subsequently both records have since been broken.
We have had recent success in the show and sale ring. Selling Claybury Basic Instinct for 30,000gns at Carlisle & Claybury Dunkirk for 34,000gns in 2020 at the Lanark Premier Sale. Dunkirk has proven to be a influential breeder selling ram lambs to 52,000gns and Yearling rams to 52,000gns. Subsequently we have put forward relations as part of this sale.
We try and run the sheep as commercially as possible on a grass based system with forage crops used over winter to supplement the ewe lambs and x bred ewes.
We feel these are a fantastic bunch of yearlings and ewe lambs. We are confident that these females on offer will offer something for everyone and should make a useful genetic contribution to any breeder and could be an outstanding base for any new flock within the Texel breed.
Health Status:
We have always practised a preventative health plan:
• Part of the Texel Plus Recording scheme and all lambs weighed & ultrasound scanned at 12 weeks old
• On the Hep P system- received 2nd September 2024 (due booster 4 weeks prior to lambing)
• Yearling Ewes received Toxovax – 20th July 2024
• MV Accredited
• Scrapie Monitored
• Lambs Scabi-Vac – approx 48 hrs after birth
• Yearling Ewes and Ewe Lambs Wormed: Combinex 14th September & 20th September
• Yearling Ewes Mineral Bolused prior to tupping 2nd September 2024
