Qi Gong Exercise (I Chin Ching) HAW112 I Chin Ching or Yijin jing roughly translates to the “change of tendon and muscle.” The idea is that by tensing your muscles through static holds/stretches and dynamic motions you can build stronger, more flexible muscles and tendons, while achieving better balance and coordination. That’s a lot of promise for just 49 exercises! Many of the Qi Gong exercises are similar to yoga postures and these can be done by anyone. No experience or uniform is required - just wear comfortable clothes. Instructor: R. Barrera Tuition: $59 W 6 sessions

You’re in Texas now. Conservation Is a Way of Life Here! GAR105 If you recently moved to our area, you’re very quickly going to find that all those plants you brought from “back home” aren’t going to grow here. Gardening in this area is gardening in the desert. In this class, we cover soils, plants, fertilizers, plant problems, composting, pruning, turf grass and xeriscape. It’s a lot of material to cover in a couple of hours, but it’s vital to successful gardening here.
I Want the Same Kind of Grass THEY Have! GAR106 Lawn grasses in our area can be a beauty or a beast. Some require lots of water while others don’t. All require at least some TLC in order to be lush and carpet-like. In this class we discuss the major varieties of grass that do well here, fertilizer for them, watering, and pest/disease problems.
