Mr. Jermy Varghese Thomas
I warmly welcome you to the fourth edition of the annual newsletter - LUMINO - of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Here you will find the latest news about the department, its exceptional achievements and updates of students and faculty. The UG programme in the department of Mechanical Engineering is certified with NBA Accreditation status for two year term Dr. Sreejith C. C. with effect from 01 July 2016. This was made possible because of the wholehearted and Professor & Head Department of sincere effort taken by the department faculty Mechanical members. My hearty congratulations and Engineering gratitude to all the faculty members for this coveted achievement. APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (APJAKTU) instituted in the year 2015 is bringing radical change in the engineering and technology education in the state with the major objective of producing employable engineering and technology graduates from engineering colleges. In line with the guidelines and policies laid down by the university the department is practicing concept-oriented outcome based teaching-learning system. It is another feather in the crown of the department that the department occupies 5th position among the private self-financing engineering institutions in the state in terms of the first semester APJAKTU results. Our strategy for ensuring that our department remains wellpositioned to maintain its phenomenal growth includes attracting highly competent scholars as faculty members, expanding our honors tracks, and continuing to review and redefine knowledge transfer process, with an eye toward elevating the department to highly regarded position in the state level. I thank the current students and teachers for bringing their talents and fervor to continue the tradition of striving for their personal best as exemplified by their predecessors. Congratulations to Mr. Manoj Balakrishnan and his team who combined, helped in materializing this issue of LUMINO. It is endeavor of the newsletter to acquaint its readers with the achievements of the SAINTGITS MECHANICAL fraternity.
