HEART FOR THE WORLD: POLLUTION OF THE NILE RIVER
My target audience for this campaign would be people within the United States and Europe. This is because the people in Northern Africa, where the Nile River runs through, do not have the financial resources or “political importance” to make any changes to the current levels of pollution. In order for the natural bacterial levels to be restored to the water, excess waste water must be directed elsewhere and treated prior to flowing into the Nile. Thus funding would have to be generated and a proposal of how this is to be done presented to several city councils. My aim is to raise funding for such a program by making people aware of the extensive consequences of waste water and industrial pollution in the Nile River, and calling them to action.
I have decided to apply the esthetic trends and design concepts utilized in my sixth poster from Project 1 to the work in Project 2. Much of it is more visually mechanized and influenced by the work of Anton Stankowski who’s work displays “invisible processes”. I will be using the sans serif font of Bebas Neu, in accordance with 1950’s international typographical style, with the incorporation of orther type as needed. My color palette will be limited to Black, White, and several shades of grey to create a more sophisticated look that will apply to my target audience and drawing their attention to the humanitarian aspect of the campaign without “scaring them off” with a typical UN photojournalist approach. This campaign could be continued through further poster designs to educate the various people groups along the Nile River on how they can help to improve water quality.
