ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUPPORT

The Opportunity Scholarship Program/Educational Opportunity Fund (OSP/EOF) admits students who demonstrate a desire to obtain a college degree and are motivated to explore new opportunities for personal development. OSP/EOF serves students who come from backgrounds with limited financial resources and academic preparedness in an effort to improve chances for success, ultimately shattering stereotypes that stigmatize these communities. OSP/EOF provides individualized, holistic support services such as personal, academic, career and financial counseling, and tutoring.

First time college students, if you were not designated as eligible during your admissions process, you could be reconsidered in the future.

Transfer students who never received an EOF grant at previous institutions or students currently attending NJCU with no previous history of EOF, who come from backgrounds of limited financial resources and academic preparedness, could be considered for admission to OSP/EOF. THE OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR

The Registrar’s Office is the “Keeper of the Academic Record.” Our office is dedicated to maintaining the integrity and security of academic records while facilitating essential academic processes. At NJCU, we manage course registration, update student records, confirm degrees, process transfer evaluations, and schedule classes and exams. We ensure compliance with university policies and regulations, provide guidance on academic procedures, generate reports to assist university decisionmaking, provide enrollment information for student loan deferrals, and confirm V.A. benefits and NCAA eligibility. Committed to fostering a seamless and efficient academic journey, the Registrar's Office is a reliable resource for accurate information and responsive service.

TIPS TO BE SUCCESSFUL FROM THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE:

• Always check your Email from the Office of the Registrar!

• Any Emails you get from the Registrar are really important. We’ll alert you to specific deadlines or information about your registration or academic record, which could impact your graduation!

• Understand Dates and Deadlines

• Colleges and universities have many important deadlines for students, and the Registrar’s Office publishes all of this information in our Academic Calendar. These deadlines are important for registering, scheduling changes, clearing any holds, taking advantage of new course opportunities, and applying for graduation!

UNDERSTAND FERPA

• The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 is a federal law that protects one’s right as a student to privacy over their academic record.

• Parents will need to have written approval from their student on file with the Registrar’s Office to access certain information regarding their student.

IT’S IMPORTANT TO KNOW YOUR RIGHTS UNDER FERPA. THESE INCLUDE:

• The right to view your education record.

• The right to request an amendment to your record if you believe there is an error.

• The right to consent to disclosures of your information, except in cases where FERPA allows disclosure without consent, including to school officials with legitimate educational interest or verification of directory information.

• The right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education regarding a noncompliance with FERPA.
