For shoppers who want something more eclectic, Milan’s massive Cormano Flea Market holds thousands of hidden treasures and trinkets. Billed as one of the top off-the-beaten-track flea markets in Europe, you can literally spend hours searching through each of the 150 plus vendors’ stalls for chic and shabby-chic treasures. You name it, and it is there — books, furniture, glass, pottery, and silk. Yes, the Cormano Flea Market is a wonderful place to find exquisite fabrics. The massive market is only open on Saturday from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM, so be an early bird if you plan to catch your special Milano worm!

Mange!

You shopped till you dropped, and now you are affamato — hungry. A 40-mile drive (or train ride) from Milan takes you to gorgeous Lake Coma with the snow-topped Alps as a backdrop. If George and Amal Clooney did not invite you to their lakeside villa, fear not. Lake Como offers a plethora of dining options to suit any palette (and any fine Italian leather wallet).

Absecon resident, Sue Voci, absolutely loves the Lake Como area. Her “go-to” dining spot when visiting is Terrazza Metropole. Located near the

winding streets of Bellagio and perched on the lake, the views are nothing short of spectacular. Voci explains, “I have been to Terraza Metropole several times when we visit the Lake Como area. It’s a perfect setting for an easy meal like pizza and a bottle of wine or a more formal romantic dinner. Having a meal by the lake feels like I am in a fantasyland.”

If you are a Michelin sealof-approval follower, Mistral is on the A-list. Located in the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni, the restaurant overlooking the lake serves traditional Italian dishes inspired by one of Italy’s top chefs, Ettore Bocchia. For example, one of his innovative recipes is the Pike and Lacquered Eel (right from the lake) with rice cream vegetables and marinated trout eggs. For a pasta option, the homemade tortellini filled with peacock breast and fava beans is a signature dish at Mistral.

Looking for lighter fare? The Peach Pit Pizzeria, a short walk from Duomo di Como, ranks multiple stars by Trip Advisor and other blogger reviews. Don’t expect fancy, but expect delicious take-out pizza — Napoletana style. What makes it Napoletana? Simple ingredients like San Marzano tomatoes and Mozzarella di Bufala Campana cheese — no exceptions. In fact, the Peach Pit placed second in the 2019 Pizza World Championship. So, grab a slice and eat as you stroll the quaint streets, or find a bench near Lake Como to take in the majestic scenery while you have lunch. n Lunch u Dinner u Catering
