Crisis Funding
SUPPORTING FAMILIES
Created in memory of 5-year-old Riley Kogen, Riley’s Path offers vital financial assistance to transplant patients and their families in times of crisis. Riley’s Path remains a constant resource for transplant center social workers and their patients.
In 2023, Riley’s Path awarded more than 65 grants totaling over $100,000 to assist patients pre- and post- transplant with housing and utilities, medication and equipment, insurance premiums, and transportation through Uber Health, as well as scholarships for high school students who are advocates for our lifesaving mission.
Transplant is a happy event for patients, but it also brings change and uncertainty. This program has eased financial stress and helped our patients to focus on their precious gift and second chance at life.
Programs and resources for families of organ and tissue donors, transplant recipients, patients waiting, living donors and caregivers provide ways to celebrate life and honor the legacy of loved ones.
Wrapped in Love
Shawls are handmade by volunteers as a tangible expression of comfort and compassion and presented to organ and tissue donor families through this special program.
Living Donors Unite
Our Living Donor Council provides resources and mentorship to the brave heroes who come forward and save lives by donating their organs to others. In collaboration with Team Liberty, the council spearheaded a National Living Donor Day reception that brought together dozens of living donors and their loved ones.
Donor Family Remembrance Ceremony
Two celebrations were held over the summer at our headquarters in the Landscape of Life Meditation Garden, bringing families of organ and tissue donors together to remember loved ones who gave the gift of life. They shared a meal, had heartfelt conversations, and dedicated river stones with special messages of love and hope.
Donor Family Resource Guide
Materials produced for donor families include a resource guide and special ways to get involved and stay supported on their journey after their loved ones’ gift of life.

NJ Sharing Network launched an extensive outdoor advertising campaign featuring custom billboards, bus, and PATH station posters in English and Spanish. The advertisements have been seen in diverse communities throughout the state, including Newark, Jersey City, Elizabeth, Camden, Trenton, Bayonne, Rutherford, and more.
NJ Sharing Network’s award winning #DonationNeedsDiversity initiative honors the generosity of multicultural donors and their families, while also underscoring the critical need for people from diverse communities to register as organ and tissue donors.
Our Foundation was proud to support the following NJ Sharing Network events and programs during National Donate Life Month in April, National Minority Donor Awareness Month in August, and year-round!

EDUCATING OUR COMMUNITIES
Through special events, public education and community outreach, we bring awareness to the importance of donation and transplantation and give hope to the nearly 4,000 New Jersey residents waiting for a lifesaving transplant.
One Legacy Donate Life Rose Parade
On New Years Day, liver transplant recipient Missy Rodriguez of Short Hills, NJ, was part of the world’s most visible campaign to inspire organ and tissue donation as she served as a float rider on OneLegacy’s Donate Life Rose Parade® float in Pasadena, CA.
The 2024 float, Woven Together: The Dance of Life, showcased the culture of the Hopi, native to the American Southwest. Transplant recipients (including Missy Rodriguez) rode on the float and living donors walked alongside it. Memorial floragraphs honoring organ and tissue donor heroes were also displayed on the float. The floragraphs were made entirely of flowers, seeds, and organic materials.
Being part of the Rose Parade was an overwhelming experience.
I was honored to meet countless incredible people and spread our message about the power of organ and tissue donation and transplantation. I felt my donor angel proudly watching from above as I rode on the float, sharing our message loud and clear. My own journey drives me to advocate for this cause. It’s about giving hope to those waiting for the gift of life.
- Missy Rodriguez
Running with the Devils
Riley’s Path and our Foundation sponsored RWJBarnabas Health’s Running with the Devils 5K Run & Walk in South Orange to spread awareness for organ and tissue donation and support efforts to protect and build healthier communities throughout New Jersey.
Team Eversight
We’re proud to partner with Eversight through our 5K Celebration of Life to provide grant funds that help to restore sight and prevent blindness through the healing power of donation, transplantation and research.

WHAT YOUR SUPPORT MAKES POSSIBLE
MAXIMIZING THE GIFT OF LIFE
Every life saved by donation and transplantation represents the dedication, commitment, and careful collaboration involving NJ Sharing Network’s multidisciplinary team, partner hospitals and transplant centers.
Launched SPRING 2024
The Joseph S.Roth Simulation Training Center
Improving clinical training, process efficiencies and time management is key in maximizing organ transplant outcomes to save and enhance more lives.
Monmouth Medical Center
Donor Wall
On July 13, the hospital dedicated an Organ and Tissue Donor Honor Wall to pay tribute to donors who have given the gift of life at Monmouth Medical Center. The Honor Wall design recognizes donors on plaques displayed within the wings of a butterfly – with green plaques representing organ donation and blue representing tissue donation.
To focus on these efforts, NJ Sharing Network has officially launched the Joseph S. Roth Simulation Training Center at its headquarters, named in memory of NJSN’s former President and CEO. Equipped with cutting-edge patient simulators, monitors, ventilators, and advanced video technologies, this center will replicate real-life situations, enhancing clinical training, streamlining processes, and maximizing time management to further our mission of saving and improving lives through organ and tissue donation.
Employees Giving Back: Landscape of Life Meditation Garden
To learn more about funding opportunities for this exciting project, contact our Foundation Office at 908-516-5566 or contactus@sharingnetworkfoundation.org.
Dedicated in 2016 and funded by our Foundation’s Employee Giving Campaign, this special place continues to honor organ and tissue donors, transplant recipients and members of the community, and also acknowledges contributions made in their honor. Special personalized plaques are installed annually to recognize milestone contributions to our Foundation.

The impact can be seen throughout New Jersey and beyond with unwavering support of our signature programs — the 5K Celebration of Life and Golf Classic & Tennis Tournament — to creative, grassroots events organized by our team captains, volunteers and advocates. These initiatives are vital to our efforts and help pay tribute to donor heroes and celebrate the gift of life. Here are a few noteworthy moments!
