WHAT YOUR SUPPORT MAKES POSSIBLE We are extremely grateful for every contribution that helps to save lives. Since its inception, our Foundation has helped fund numerous projects and programs in the following areas:

PUBLIC AWARENESS AND EDUCATION Through special events, public education and community outreach, we bring awareness to the importance of donation and transplantation and give hope to the nearly 4,000 New Jersey residents waiting for a life-saving transplant.

FAMILY SUPPORT Programs and resources for families of organ and tissue donors, transplant recipients, patients waiting, living donors and caregivers provide ways to celebrate life and honor the legacy of loved ones.

Crisis Funding

Care Packages

Riley’s Dance, a program of our Foundation, is committed to assisting transplant recipients and patients waiting for a transplant in a time of financial crisis. Since the fund’s inception in 2014, more than 200 families in New Jersey and beyond have received assistance with housing and utilities, medication and equipment, insurance premiums, transportation and more. Additionally, through a partnership with Uber Health and transplant centers, Riley’s Dance provided transportation to patients to get to urgent medical appointments pre- and post- transplant.

FOR TRANSPLANT RECIPIENTS AND CAREGIVERS In partnership with the Jellybean’s Rainbow Family Fund, care packages for recipients and their caregivers were gifted to patients posttransplant to provide support and comfort along their transplant journey.

Wrapped in Love Shawls are handmade by volunteers as a tangible expression of comfort and compassion and presented to family members of organ and tissue donors through this special program.

Donor Remembrance During Donate Life Month, this LIVE online program was broadcasted on Facebook and YouTube, and featured a special program honoring organ and tissue donors and their families who so generously gave the gift of life.

Wall of Heroes Family and friends came together to celebrate their loved ones at the unveiling of two permanent displays at Saint Clare’s Health system’s Denville and Dover Hospitals. These special walls honor the hospitals’ organ and tissue donors and their families who made the selfless decision to give the gift of life.

Living Donor Council Serving as a resource and mentor for the living donation community, this council offers support pre- and posttransplant, provides educational sessions, and hosts formal receptions celebrating the uniqueness and generosity of living donors. Keep an eye out for the Living Donation tent each year at the 5K Celebration of Life, and say hello to this special group!

Clinical Donation Conversation T raining “The Carousel of Hope & Healing,” a three-day training for clinical staff, inspires organ donation through empowering hope, increases the rate of authorization and improves relationships with hospital partners.

SIMULATION TRAINING CENTER

LOOKING TO THE

FUTURE I always dreamed of borrowing a hospital ICU when it is not in use to simulate patient scenarios and provide critical hands-on training for our clinical team. Building a simulation training center at our headquarters will make that dream a reality. SHARYN SAWCZAK RN, CPTC, CTBS DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL PRACTICE AND INNOVATION

Sharyn Sawczak looks forward to developing and leading education programs in the new Simulation Training Center.

Every life saved by organ transplant represents the successful execution of carefully choreographed steps involving the cooperation of NJ Sharing Network’s multidisciplinary team, partner hospitals and transplant centers, medical examiners and donor families. Every step of the process is absolutely critical. Improving clinical training, process efficiencies and time management is key in maximizing organ transplant outcomes to save and enhance more lives. To focus on these efforts, NJ Sharing Network has launched plans for the creation of a Simulation Training Center at its headquarters in New Providence. The Simulation Training Center, which is expected to open in 2022, will offer the most realistic simulator training possible. It will feature an intensive care unit (ICU) patient room equipped with a bed, monitors, ventilator, cardiac resuscitation equipment cart, tubes, IV poles, mock medications and fluids. The latest video technologies will also be included to provide enhanced replays and analysis for ongoing training.

Rose Parade Float ® Each year on New Year’s Day, the Donate Life Rose Parade Float® provides the donation community with an opportunity to inspire millions of people across America to register as organ and tissue donors. Our Foundation was proud to sponsor Dawn Burke, Lung Transplant Recipient and Float Rider, and Janice Campbell, mother of Organ and Tissue Donor and Floragraph Honoree Dr. Jamila Irons-Johnson, to attend the multi-day festivities in Pasadena, CA.

Janice Campbell and her family attended the Rose Parade to honor Dr. Jamila Irons-Johnson, a beloved mother, wife, sister, daughter, psychologist, and friend to many. Jamila’s life ended unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm on January 24, 2013. Jamila was constantly giving her heart to the world and while her life was cut short, her spirit lives on forever.

Lung recipient Dawn Burke was among the float riders representing the thousands of lives saved each year through donation. On June 24, 2019, Dawn received a right lung transplant. Dawn gives a special “thank you” every day to her donor and her family for giving her this gift of life and hopes to one day meet them and thank them in person.

Congratulations Scholarships In collaboration with our family and partner funds, our Foundation is proud to offer scholarships to students who have been impacted by organ and tissue donation and transplantation or are advocates for our life-saving mission.

NJ SHARING NETWORK HOSTS REIMAGINED TRANSPLANT GAMES After several years of planning and preparation, our donation and transplantation community came together at American Dream for the Reimagined Transplant Games. Our very own Team Liberty set the tone and energized the crowd as they paraded around in their team uniforms led by Lady Liberty herself. Hundreds of people of all ages, races and ethnicities gathered around the main stage, information tables, and donor family displays to find out more about organ, eye, and tissue donation and transplantation. The excitement continued to grow in the four days and evenings that followed. There were so many touching moments that connected

new audiences to the power of donation and the gift of life… The Wall of Hope, donor quilts, stone dedications and other remembrance ceremonies produced many tears and heartfelt hugs. Strong news media coverage highlighted the happenings to boost attendance and expand the reach of our shared message of hope. Local, regional, and even international media outlets came with their cameras and microphones to report on the positive vibes at American Dream and conduct interviews with transplant recipients, donor families, sponsors and volunteers.
