ARC 150 11 Multiply 8

Divide 5

Subtract 2

Add 1

Addition Begin with 6 individual grids that are 1/2” scale. Randomly place 5 lines horizontally and diagonally on each of the grids. Take each of these grids and box off 5” x 5” of the grid in a square. Using these new squares, connect them on a sheet of 18” x 24” paper in a formation that would allow them to be cut out and formed into a three dimensional cube.

1

Subtraction Take the drawing you made in Addition and cut them out in one piece. You will then fold it in a three dimensional 5” x 5” x 5” cube. Using this cube and the lines you created, highlight portions of the cube which you will remove in order to take 1/3 of the volume away from the cube. Using chipboard, you will recreate this model in three dimensional form.

2

Division Take the 5” x 5” x 5” cube you have made and cut it down the center. Now you will have two pieces. Take these two pieces and combine them together to create a cube that is now 2.5” x 5” x 10”. You will take this model and make it at twice the scale so that it is now 5” x 10” x 20” and made out of foam core.

5

Multiplication Take the cube you have created through division and divide it into four parts. You will then take these four parts and create four individual modules made of musuem board, plywood, basswood, and a recyclable material. Using these four parts, combine them to create one module that interlocks or connects so that all pieces are relative to each other.

ARC 150 Mind Map

The mindmap is my personal journey from my suite in Vista de las Estrellas (Building 54) to Building 1 for studio. It shows not only the time period, but the change in elevation, commentry from my personal experience, colors corresponding to my moods, and the actual map of my journey.
