Wewillaskyourpresentschoolforareference andforGCSEpredictionsbeforewecallyou foraninterview.Whenacandidateis accepted,itisusuallyunconditionally,onthe basisofourtests.
IfyouhaveappliedforaMusic Scholarship,andarecalledbackforan interview,youwillalsobeinvitedfora 20-minuteaudition.

› BURSARIES
Sinceitsfoundationin1850,NorthLondon CollegiateSchoolhasprovidedfinancial supporttostudentswhoweknowwillthrive atNLCSbutwhosefamiliescannotaffordour fees.Weofferthisintheformofbursariesto studentsjoiningtheSeniorSchoolat11+or 16+.
Once you have registered your child, you will need to complete a bursary application form andemailittobursaries@nlcs.org.ukwith thesupportingdocumentation.
› ELIGIBILITY
Bursariesexisttoensurethatchildrenwho wouldbenefitfromattendingNLCSarenot preventedfromdoingsobecauseofthe costs.Abursarycancoveranyproportion ofthecostsoffeesincluding100%fees, lunches,mandatorycurriculum equipment,examfeesandcompulsory tripsforthosewhoareeligible.
Wejudgeeachapplicationcarefully, consideringtheincomeandassetsofthe family.Bursaryassessmentiscarriedout independently,includingahomevisitbya thirdparty.
Applicantswithhouseholdincomein excessof£86,000areunlikelytobe grantedanaward.Awardswillonlybe availabletostudentswhentheSchool issatisfiedthefee-payingparent(s) areresidentintheUKfortax purposes.

› MUSICSCHOLARSHIPS
AnumberofMusicScholarshipsareawardedat16+.Students mustpasstheentranceexaminationandamusicauditionto qualify.
TheNLCSHandelMusicScholarshipisanannualaward equivalenttothecostofindividualmusiclessonsatNLCSin uptotwoinstruments.
WeencourageourMusicScholarstostudyan additionaldisciplinealongsidetheirmain instrumenttofurtherdeveloptheir musicianship.
TheNLCSHandelMusicScholarshipwill carrywithitanadditional£110perinstrument studied,awardedannually,tohelptowardsthe costofsheetmusicandinstrument maintenance.

Studentswhodowellintheentrancetestsarecalledbackforinterview.This stagewillconsistofshortinterviewsineachchosensubject,andreservesubject/s,if necessary. Therewouldalsobeaguidanceinterview,whereyouwillhavethe opportunitytoaskquestionsyoumayhaveandforustogiveyouadviceoncourses andhelpyoudecideontherightpathwayifyouhavenotalreadymadeyourdecision.

Onceyouhaveregisteredonline,wewillbeincontactwithyoudirectlytomake arrangementsforthenextstageoftheadmissionsprocess.Studentswillsittheir entrancetestsattheBritishCouncilortheircurrentschool.Followingtheentrance tests,ifstudentsareinvitedforinterview,wewouldliketomeetyouinperson, howeverthesecanhappenremotelyifnecessary.Forsuccessfulcandidates,wecan offersupportwiththevisaapplicationprocess.
