EachBoardingHomehasanon-residentialMatronwhoisresponsibleforthebasichousekeepingofthe BoardingHomeandforensuringthequalityofourlaundryprovision,cleaning,andmaintenance Theyare amazinglywarmandwelcomingtoourboardingstudentsanddosomanysmallthingswhichhelptosupport ourmainaimofprovidingahomeawayfromhomeenvironment
5.5AcademicSupport
Studentsarelikelytobeintroducedtoanumberofothermembersoffacultystaffwhogivesomeoftheir timeintheeveningstoensuretheboardinghousesofferthebestboardingprovisionpossible.Weexpectour boarderstomakegreatacademicprogressandthefacultystaffmakeavaluablecontributiontotheboarding houseswithafocusondeliveringacademicchallenge,stimulationandsupportforourboarders.“Academic Support”isaverybroadtermandtheacademicneedsofourboardingstudentsarejustaswideanddiverse. Anacademicsupportdutycouldincludesupportforidentifiedstudentsandʻdrop-insʼforboardingstudents, orenrichmentandrevisionlecturestoalargergroupofboarders,forexample.TheAcademicSupport ProgrammeiscreatedwiththecollaborationoftheVP(Academic)andAVP(Boarding)sothatitcanbest meettheneedsofourstudentswithoutjeopardisingtheNLCSeducationalethos

ItisimportanttorememberthateveryoneatNLCSJejuandallourparentswantthesamething;everyone wantsthechildrenunderourcaretobehappyandtogrowandmatureintothesuccessfulyoungadultsthat weknowtheycanbe.Wefeelthatwecangetthebestoutofyourchildrenifweworktogetherasateam,and thatcanonlyhappenifweallmakeanefforttomakesurepositiverapportsareinplaceandpositive relationshipsareinpractice.

7.TheBoardingRoutine
Ourboardersfollowregularroutineswhilstintheboardinghomesandwerecognisethattheycansometimes takeabitoftimetounderstandandbecomehabitual.Theroutinesaredesignedtoensurethatourstudents makethemostoftheirtimeatNLCSJejuandthatthereisahealthy,balancedlifestyleforallourboarders Noteveryoneagreeswithalloftheroutinesbuttheyareanicecompromise,mergingbothKorean,British, andInternationalculturesintosomethingthatmakesusproud

StudentsofSeniorSchoolageandaboveareencouragedtohavealarmclocksandtakeresponsibilityfor gettingthemselvesupanddressedeachmorning;matronsandboardingstaffcanandwillsupportthis.This isobviouslyanimportantlifeskill.However,entrenchingthislifeskillformanyteenagestudentswillneed ongoingsupervisionandguidancefromanadultteamandsoBMsandtheirteamstaketheoverriding responsibilityforthiseachday.

JuniorBoarderswillleavetheirBoardingHomewithalltheyneedfortheday.Thisisbecausetheywillhave theirCCAsstraighta ertheirlastlessonoftheday.A ertheiractivity,theywillbereceivedbythestaff memberonduty.Theywillusethetimebeforedinnergettingreadyfortheirhomeworktimeanddinner. Dinnerwillbecompulsoryforallourchildrenandtheywillbeaccompaniedbytheboardingstaff.A er dinner,theywillhavesomefreetimetosocialiseundersupervisionbeforetheybegintheirhomework. HomeworkwillbesupervisedandassistedbyJuniorSchoolspecialistteacherstodriveforththescholarship ofourchildren
StudentsinYears7to11returntotheirBoardingHomesa ertheira ernoonlessonsandcangetchanged beforetheirCCAifneeded.StudentsmustleavetheBoardingHomeingoodtimeiftheyaretobeattheir a ernoonactivitiesontime BoardingstudentsreturntotheirBoardingHomesa erCCAswheretheyare welcomedbythestaffmemberonduty.Allstudentsshouldmakesurethattheyattendsupperinthedining hallbetween17:45and18:45.Thedutymembersofstaffattendsuppertogetherwiththeirboardingstudents andaninformalregisteristakenduringthistimetomonitorattendanceandensurehealthyeatinghabits.
7.3Evening
ForJuniorBoarders,theywillbeexpectedtobewithintheirhousea erdinner.Thestaffaccompanyingthem todinnerwillensurethatthechildrenarereadyandsettledforprepat18:30andworkuntil20:30withan appropriatebreakinbetween.Theywillthenprepareforthenextdaybeforegoingtotheirroomsat21:00 andthenlightsoutwillbeat21:30
By19:00,atthelatest,allSeniorSchoolboardersshouldbebackintheBoardingHomeandtheevening routinestarted;onlybypriorarrangementcanexceptionstothisbemade.Eveningregistrationandhouse meetingtakeplaceat19:00andprepshouldbestartedbefore19:15.

Betweenprependingandlowlights(reading)time,itisimportantthattheboardersgetthemselvesreadyfor thefollowingday Uniformsneedtobeorganised,schoolbagsneedtobepacked,andweo enhaveto remindthemtocallhomeiftheyhavebeentooexcitedorbusytoremember.

NostudentmaysmokeontheSchoolsite,bringcigarettes,ore-cigarettes/vapingparaphernaliaontothe Schoolsite,smokeduringtheirjourneytoSchool,smokeonaSchooltrip,norsupplycigarettestoother pupils.StudentsshouldnotsmokeanywherewhilstwearingSchooluniformandastudentwhoisnot smokingbutwhoispresentwithanotherstudentwhoissmokingmayalsoreceiveanappropriatesanction.
Nostudentmaypurchasealcohol,bringalcoholontotheSchoolsite,supplyotherpupilswithalcoholnor arriveataSchoolfunctionhavingconsumedalcohol Theserulesapplytostudentsonanyschooltripand anyonefoundtobeinvolvedwithsmokingoralcoholcanexpecttoreceiveaserioussanction.

11.1ArrivingtoBeginaTerm

OutsidethefrontofNLCSJeju,thereareagroupofshopsandrestaurantswhichtheboardersareallowedto accessatcertaintimesthroughouttheweek.Themajorityofthesetripsoutoftheschooloccurduringthe weekendalthoughweareconstantlyreviewingthepoliciessurroundingstudentfreedoms.
