Halla East News September 2023
Message from the BM September 2023 The Year 12 girls have settled in well and taken on the Halla Ethos quickly. There were some teething issues whilst they explored their new found freedom and established exactly what they can and canʼt do. As they now all know the expectations, we will be enforcing these as we move forward. The Year 13ʼs girls had a challenging start with the iSAMs upload causing issues for several on our girls and it is a measure of their maturity and learnt communication skills that this was dealt with so well. Academically, many of them are in a great place- EEʼs done, much of CAS completed and projects signed off, final submissions of their IAʼs underway so they can turn their focus to the demands of their college preparations. The UCG counsellors have been in home to support our boarders with 1:1ʼs and there has also been excellent IA support sessions. I am so pleased they heeded advice given last year. The whole Halla East team have undergone their safeguarding training and I am currently retaking a course “Child Protection for International Schools” to compliment my “Child Protection Advance” course completed in 2022. I am very pleased with the progress made by our new ABM, Ms Yoon, who is always ready to ask questions if she has any concerns about a studentʼs well being or safety. She is an asset to our team!
Message from the new ABM September 2023
Mrs Yoon I wanted to become an ABM of Halla East, because I was a happy boarder during my teenage years. During my years of boarding, I was fortunate to forge an enduring sense of family and community with the other girls and boarding staff. I love being the ABM of Halla East, because I enjoy getting to know all the girls on both their good and bad days. I am aiming to inspire the girls to develop resilience, grit and a positive attitude when facing adversity. With Mrs. Coughlan and Mrs.Smith's guidance and support, I've learnt that being a good ABM requires commitment: Commitment in time, effort, and emotion. After long hours of work, being an ABM can be difficult at times. However, I feel lucky to be surrounded by brilliant and empowered girls who work hard to reach their full potential everyday. I hope to remain committed and vigilant to keep all students happy, safe and feel valued as individuals.

Yr12 IGCSE Halla Tea
Halla East and North Y12 boarders got together for a fun night to get to know each other. It was great seeing everyone having fun and building friendships. The Y13 house committee did an amazing job coming up with game ideas that brought the students together. We hope to have many more events where students can purely have fun and take a break from working hard!
Congratulations Y12s on completing your IGCSE! It was great seeing some of your parents at the Halla Tea Party. We hope that they enjoyed seeing where you live and enjoyed the food and music. Special thanks to the music students for performing great songs that day. Y12s, be proud of your achievements and I look forward to celebrating many more achievements with all the girls! Well done!
