Message from the BM

March 2024

Leadership is important for a boarding home so that our students see good role models, that we have student-led initiatives, and to have a positive future-focused environment. It’s not just the students with the title that are important, it’s many people who contribute and who can get involved.

Congratulations to the students on page 10 who will be our leaders next year. Thank you to the current Year 11’s who have done a lot of work behind the scenes from running big events, to helping younger students with prep, to completing the wonderful newsletters. We are pleased you are here for another term, but we will miss you all once you move to Halla!

KISAC- Basketball, Volleyball, and Swimming

Many KISACs took place in term 2 such as High School Basketball and Swimming, and Middle School Volleyball.

This was an opportunity for everyone to engage in teamwork and enjoy themselves while playing various active sports.

Night Market

On March 2nd, our Iho girls went to the Night Market Seogwipo Olle Market. We all enjoyed tasty street foods, fresh seafood, and had a great time exploring the stalls. The lively atmosphere helped us forget our worries, and we shared many laughs and memorable moments together. It was a fun and stress-free outing that we'll always treasure!

Singapore Exchange Trip

From March 8 to March 15, students from NLCS

Singapore stayed in Iho! We had the chance to communicate and bond with them, and participated in some fun activities all together getting to know each other.

Even though 8 days weren’t long enough for us to know 100 percent of each other, it was truly valuable time spent in each others’ schools

learning new things and hope we keep in touch with new friends!

Weekend Activity - Making Hot Pot

In February, Ms. Melody graciously hosted a hot pot gathering with junior students in Iho! This meal held great significance for both Ms. Zhang and the students, as it evoked cherished memories of their hometown cuisine and culinary traditions. Chinese students prepared ingredients such as vegetables and meat in a Buffet style which served as a cultural intersection point for junior students.

Senior Drama Production – Argonautica

On March 7th, the senior school drama showcase, Argonautica, featured some of the talented drama students of our house. This play was a tale based on Greek mythology about Jason and his companions, the argonauts, on an adventure to retrieve the golden fleece.

Year 11 Michaella and Year 10 Eileen from our house played the goddesses Hera and Athena.

Sonitas Unplugged

On march 16th, some of our Iho girls performed on the late-night stage of Sonitas Unplugged! The show lasted for 2 hours, with Harang Choi from Year 9 singing and Hannah Kim from Year 11 playing various instruments in front of a large audience.

It was a fun experience to sing and clap along with the Iho students on stage!

IHO Fundraising

The Year 10 and 11 girls organised a fundraising event where they sold various snacks in order to earn money for the installment of the Iho Shared Umbrella System. As a result, we raised over 500,000 won!

It was a great experience for everyone to buy, prepare, and sell products :)

The Next Generation

After the spring break, the Year 11s will gradually be passing on their leadership roles and responsibilities to the new Year 10 leaders.

The new leaders for 2024-2025 are:

Home captain: Madison

Media captain: Kate, Alexa

Events captain: Eileen

Academic captain: Soyul

Wellbeing captain: Julia

Environmental captain: Jungseo
