Iho News January 2024

IHO Winter Wonderland

Message from the BM January 2024

This term our focus/motto is “Small moments = Big impact”. It emphasizes the idea that sometimes the most meaningful or influential aspects of our lives can stem from brief or subtle occurrences rather than grand or obvious ones. In various contexts, this phrase can be applied to relationships, personal experiences, or broader situations. It encourages our girls to appreciate the importance of seemingly small gestures, decisions, or moments, as they can play a crucial role in shaping our lives, relationships, and overall well-being. It underscores the notion that even small actions or events can have a profound and lasting impact on our journey and outcomes. Even something as seemingly insignificant like being on time to registration, or smiling at a fellow Iho sister!

We wish you a very happy Seollal. 행복한 설날 보내세요!

Weekend activities Year 5-7 Trip Year 5 to 7 students from all houses participated in some weekend activities, and for one weekend we went to Vaunce! It was an activity to play with each other in somewhere like Kids cafe. They played with zip lines or trampolines. All of the year 5 to 7 students said that they enjoyed this trip and hope to have this opportunity again.

Weekend activities Year 8 Trip In January, all of the Y8 borders went on a trip to 981 park! First, we were divided into three teams and entered the survival zone. It was a zone where we shoot each other with guns. You might hear it as dangerous activity, but actually it isn’t because they are all laser guns so we are not shooting objects physically it’s recognising the laser. Next, we rode bumper cars and it was kind of interesting and different from the other ones. The marking method is different; it only works if we bump from the back or the side. Then, we had time to hang out with our own friends where there are lots of games we can try: basketball, football, horse riding, balling, and etc. We had such a fun time while we were competing with each other, but also helping and enjoying the cafe. It was a very memorable trip during this year since we also had a chance to get closer with the other Y8s!

Weekend activities Year 9 Trip At the start of the new year, the entire Year 9 boarding went on a memorable trip to the CGV to watch Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. It was a great opportunity for the year 9 students to bond and to capture unforgettable moments. The exciting year group trip to the movies not only provided a delightful break from routine, but also fostered lasting memories for all.

Weekend activities Year 10 Trip The trip to Tapdong was a lovely time for all of us, as it gave us, year 10s especially, a time to relax for a few hours, with the many assessments and tasks going on. We all love shopping and eating, and this trip gave us a chance to spend time with our friends outside the school campus. Because my friends and I had a big test in a few days, we went to a cafe in Tapdong after eating some food and studied chemistry. Although we studied during the time, it was a nice time, where we were able to refresh our minds in a different environment for a short period of time.

Year 11 Mock exams

Year 11s took their IGCSE mock exams for two weeks right after the winter break. It must have been a very tough time for them – some girls had four tests a day!

Thankfully, now that the exams are over, they can have some time recharging themselves before the real IGCSE exam this summer.

Ice Skating Trip Jan 2023 Newsletter

Last weekend, Iho and Pyoseon girls went to ice skating in BHA. Everyone including grads, boarding mistress, junior boarders enjoyed skating. It was nice to see them working together and helping each other!

Messages Iho - January 2024

Water bottles - a reminder - please don’t send single water bottles to the boarding house as we are trying to reduce our environmental impact. We are also discussing with the girls how many packages they get delivered. Scheduled exeat 8th March - the girls are welcome to stay in the boarding home, however most go home for a break from the routine of school and boarding and we notice the girls always return refreshed and ready to focus again.
