We find ourselves at the end of another busy term during which our students have continued to excel and achieve Mulchat has competed tirelessly in a whole range of competitions Jessica Heo (Year 8) and Alvin Song (Year 10) have kindly reported on someofthehighlightsoverleaf

We talk a lot to our students about targets and goals which of course is an essential part of learning and improving The winter break offers us the opportunity to reflect, however, and concentrate on what we have achieved and how far we have already come Whether students have just joined us, started IGCSE or are something in between they all have some successes and positives to draw on I hope you can join me in encouraging them to focus on those as the term draws to an end

With the demands of academics, extracurricular commitments and various other demands it is essential that students find a timetorestandrecuperateoverthewinterbreak Thebenefitsof good sleep and positive routines are indisputable and so I hope ourMulchatiansgetplentyofrestthisbreak

Ourlastcompetitionbeforethewinterbreakwasbasketballforyear 7and8 MulchatpractisedduringMondaymorningtutortimesand onThursdayasusual Mulchat’sSportscaptains,GraceandJustin, helpedusbyteachingusvariouswaystopassandshoot Thetwo gamesweplayedwerenotaswehadexpectedbutwedidnotlose ourhousespirit Theotherstudentssupportedtheplayersby cheeringthemon.

TheHouseBasketballopenedthetermforMulchatianYear10s,andtheresultswerefantastic TheBoys’basketball teamhadthreeconsecutivewinsandonecloselossinthelastgame,finallycominginabove3rdplace!JacobKim, oneofourvictoriousathletes,saidthatMulchathad“goodteamworkanddidn’tgiveupevenwhenbehindinscores”

TheQuickCricketeventalsoallowedMuchatianstoreaffirmtheirsolidteamworkandexcellentathleticskills;Allyear groupsthoroughlyenjoyedthemodifiedversionofthetraditionalBritishsport ZiuChoi,aYear9student,said,"the Mulchatianstriedtheirverybest,anditwasmeaningfuleventhoughwehadsomelossesbecauseteamworkmatters more”Year10studentsseemtohavesimilaropinions-RyanLee,aparticipantintheevent,saidthatMulchat“can definitelydobetternexttime,andweshouldallworktogethertoimproveandrankfirst”

TheYear10studentsalsohadtheirdowns,though;Mulchathadunexpectedchallengesin theQuizshowjustoneweekbeforethebreak Manyexpectedthebig-brainMulchatianstowineasily,asthequizwas mainlyaboutknowledge,apartfrom“GuesstheStaff”questionswithhilariousphotosofNLCSJejuteachers TheYear10 Mulchatteamguessedtwoquestionsrightinarow,earning900pointsandranking1stuntiltherouletteofdoomstruck themand‘redistributed’500ofthemtoSarahhouse Recoveringfromsuchadisasterwashard,andtheYear10team finishedas4th However,theKS3(Years7to9)teamtriumphedintheHouseEnglishLiteratureCompetitiononthe sameday,rankingfirstoutoftenparticipants,restoringMulchat’sglory
